  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) Scot Gregor ‏@scotgregor 2m White Sox GM Rick Hahn: AAA Charlotte 2B Micah Johnson ( hamstring) done for season He's had a successful season even though it looks like injuries plagued him all year. That should tell us something. Does he need to be placed on the 40 man this next year?
  2. Nathaniel Stoltz @stoltz_baseball · 10m Have a long thing about him coming up. Rotation ceiling. RT @wildabeastt Tyler Danish? Reliever or rotation ceiling?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 04:11 PM) Colleen Kane ‏@ChiTribKane 47m More White Sox minors news: The Sox have requested waivers for the purpose of granting the unconditional release of LHP Charlie Leesman. Good. He was nothing much.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) Dunn. Keppinger and Downs, to a lesser extent. Swisher. Javy. Edwin Jackson. Manny Ramirez. Liriano, Myers and Youkilis. Griffey, Jr. Although none of the players that KW gave up for these guys have amounted to anything.
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) I like it, though it is obviously far-fetched. Here it is: Trade Viciedo, Beck, Hawkins and Sanchez for Jay Bruce and Sean Marshall. Why would the Reds make that trade? Sign relievers Andrew Miller and Luke Gregorson. That's going to cost $35-40M. 3 years at $6M per for Miller; 4 years at $5M per for Gregorson Trade Danks to anyone that will take on most of his contract. Don't see that happening. Sign Justin Masterson to a one year prove it again contract. Would love this, although I hope the SOX at least dabble with Shields. Sign Michael Cuddyer to a 2 year contract. DH him and let him play OF for when someone needs a rest. Like the idea, but Cuddyer's days in the OF are over. Sign Emilio Bonifacio to play a utility role. Love it. They reportedly made Latos available this trade deadline. Phillips is on the wrong side of 30, Votto although great, is very injury prone, Bailey and Latos are both injury prone also and Latos is getting expensive. I would love to get Shields, but I obviously went another route focusing on the bullpen with 2 of the better arms on the market and a starting pitcher in Masterson that can net you a good return if he pitches well, or extend if you feel like he can be part of the future. He's a sinker baller who's experienced in the AL central. Cuddyer would strictly be DH and could even rest Abreu at first too. Every contending team needs a guy like Bonifacio in my opinion.
  6. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) I really think the majority of additions to the roster next season come from the trade market. I expect Alexei will be made available for the right return in the winter meetings and that Hahn will make a run at Tomas and probably at Pedro Alvarez as an alternative to re-signing Dunn. I think Alexei could go for a pretty good return as the Red Sox and Yankees are both likely to be in the bidding along with the Dodgers if they feel that Hanley either won't sign or has a future at 3B. If Red Sox want Alexei, I'm asking for Boegarts.

  9. This next off season is going to be huge for Hahn. It'll be interesting to see what he can manage to pull off trade wise. In terms of free agency, its pretty bare other than the bullpen arms. I think Hahn has something up his sleeve and will make a huge move this off season. Trade Viciedo, Beck, Hawkins and Sanchez for Jay Bruce and Sean Marshall. Sign relievers Andrew Miller and Luke Gregorson. Trade Danks to anyone that will take on most of his contract. Sign Justin Masterson to a one year prove it again contract. Sign Michael Cuddyer to a 2 year contract. DH him and let him play OF for when someone needs a rest. Sign Emilio Bonifacio to play a utility role. CF Eaton SS Ramirez 1B Abreu RF Bruce DH Cuddyer LF Garcia 3B Gillaspie/Davidson 2B Johnson/Semien C Flowers Bench Nieto Bonifacio Danks/Sierra Davidson (splits time with Gillaspie) Rotation Sale Quintana Masterson Rodon Noesi Bullpen Petricka Guerra Webb Marshall Gregorson Miller Carroll/Johnson/Rienzo (long relief) Remember, Sox have money to spend and if they want to contend next year, I can see at least some of these moves or lateral moves to my ideas happen.
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 11:03 PM) So it's realistic to think that Spencer Adams will finish next year at Winston Salem right? If he continues to perform, I can see a Danish path he takes.
  11. QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) Gord0n doesn't even look like he cares at this point. Is there a reason we are still forced to watch him? Honestly, why not bring up Semien or whoever now to get a few more at bats. Do you have to wait for September? I just don't understand the thinking. He has a 0% chance of being on the team next year, right? Please, someone help me out. Then you gotta send someone down. Just wait another couple weeks.
  12. Given his age, I'd love to see him in AA next year.

  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 12:20 PM) Seriously. I mean, Andy Wilkins didn't get a lot of love from us at FutureSox because he's 26, but we understand that he can hit. But Ravelo? This is a guy who is 22 years old hitting .318/.397/.491 at AA and showing ever increasing power. I don't want to go all crazy talk, and I'm not outright making this comparison, but at similar ages, Ravelo and Votto were putting up similar numbers. Votto walked and struck out more (so more good and bad), but they do have similar bodies of work at this point (including height and build). Like I said, I don't want people to think that I'm saying Ravelo is the next Votto, but there's a lot of reason for optimism. Completely agree. I believe I remember someone asked Callis why he was off the top 20 and Callis said that he had no hit tool. Don't quote me on that but its just remarkable how he wasn't on that list and Braulio Ortiz is.....
  20. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) I wonder what Markakis will get by comparison. I would love to get Markakis for 4 years 60 million (assuming the O's don't pick up his option). Durable, walks, doesn't strikeout and plays good defense, then move Avi to left.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 08:43 AM) Not sure if it was mentioned somewhere else, but Buddy Bell said Spencer Adams' next start would be for Great Falls. Well the kid sure has earned it.
  22. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 07:20 PM) God damn I love Ravelo. The power is coming on! Next at bat, he got HBP, pitcher got tossed from the game.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 06:48 PM) Jake Peter's numbers falling hard, never buy into the hype of Pioneer League stats. He goes 3-3 tomorrow and all is respectable again. It's a new level. Just slow down.
  24. Mitchell 1-2 RBI Sanchez 0-2 Semien 0-1 BB Wilkins 1-2 Phegley 1-2 Davidson 0-1 BB Barnette in action as Zaleski got lit up. Engel 2-4 Hawkins 1-3 HR, 3 RBIs Trey 1-3 Barnum 1-3 Peter 0-3 Dykstra 7IP 5H 1ER 0BB 4Ks Connor Walsh got lit up in his Kanny debut out of the pen. Robbins continues to hit for Great Falls. 1-1 2B average up to 315.
