  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:25 AM) Also listening to Hahn talk, I got a couple of impressions. #1, the "target" isn't anyone who has been talked about by the media. It would surprise me if it were someone with the Yankees catching group (just based on Hahns words.) #2, I didn't get the impression that the Sox are going to hand out a big contract to starting pitching this winter. When Hahn talked about the off-season, there was no mention of free agent starters. He specifically mentioned he won't do anything, just to do something, and staying out of a "short term mindset". The interview is worth a listen. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/?podcast_url=h...mp;dcid=CBS.CHI Very good listen. I like the Rodon talk. Hahn loves Eaton as he should be. I like how he wants this player, wants to get him in the winter meetings. Interesting talk on Alexei, saying he listens to offers to know what he's worth but only if overwhelmed by an offer.
  3. Maybe Dombrowski should be questioned by Tigers fans because their bullpen has cost them the last 3 playoffs....
  4. I would IBB Eaton to get to Beckham. BTW, Fryer has a cannon.
  5. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) Would you recommend them trading away prospects to get bullpen help? Miller, Gregorson, Belisle, Hochever, Howell, Rodriguez are all free agents next year.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:11 PM) Thompson, Beli, Petricka, Surkamp, Guerra, Webb, Rienzo. That's the bullpen. Pretty sad. I see one guy that is a lock for next year.
  7. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) Let's not make out like Q is the victim totally, either. You CAN'T continue to labor through 5 innings, with a s***ty bullpen, and wonder why you aren't getting wins. 116 pitches for 15 outs is abysmal, but seems to be the norm for Quintana. Before this outing, I'm pretty sure he had gone at least 7 innings in 7 of his last 8 starts.
  8. Nester Molina has been very good lately out of the bullpen.
  9. I smell a Jim Johnson signing and a Guerra DFA soon....
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) If the Sox would have won last night, I'd actually be enjoying scoreboard watching right now. That second wildcard may fall to 84 wins. Sox win today, they are 4.5 gb....
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) The run being unearned as well. Does anyone know where I could find Hahn's interview from yesterday? There was a JR interview saying that Hahn will have the resources in the winter to acquire a starter and bullpen help. JR specifically said everyone knows we need another starter and some bullpen help I'm hoping for Shields, Crain and Miller.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:49 PM) Gotta think Semien is being prepped for MLB 2B with the way the lineup was today I sure hope so. Beckham is just lost at the plate.
  13. Quintana didn't have his best stuff again today and still managed 5 innings only giving up 1 run. Hell of a job battling.
  14. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:36 PM) He's got an option that I'm sure they pick up, but I'm just throwing him out there hypothetically. Did not know that, but thank you.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Q deserves a "5 and Fly" win. Completely agree. Side not, Lindstrom got shelled in an inning with the Knights. 1IP 4H 2ER 0BB 1K
  16. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) I think they should to be honest. Maybe not Scherzer/Lester/Cueto, but Shields/Masterson? Yes. I'm really hoping the payroll is back up around 80-90M next year. That would mean they spent about 30-40M which should mean we have a quality RH starter, a quality bat or 2, and some quality arms in the pen. Wow, I forgot about Cueto, I would love to add him. And he'll only be 29 next year... I'd give him 5 years/75 million
  17. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:24 PM) As I recall, avi had some issues with being able or unable of getting out of the way of inside pitches. Honestly, a lot of guys do. With the velocity these days, if you even think about swinging and its inside, there is essentially no chance you can get out of the way.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) This doesn't sound good Seth Lakso ‏@SethLakso Hearing that after being hit by pitch, Garcia slammed his helmet to the ground and walked off the field. I want Beck to retaliate.
  19. Besides 1 inning, Beck has done a pretty good job. 8 hits, 0 walks and 5 strikeouts Thompson 0-2 with 2 walks Smith 2-4 Bassitt 6IP 3H 2ER 3BB 4K
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) just a question, do you think that the sox is ready to make that kind of move, maybe in the offseason with a high free agent salary player. I would like your opinion. imho my thoughts will be yes. Yes I believe they will. Not necessarily a free agent position player but maybe a pitcher (Scherzer, Lester, Shields) all come to mind that would fit well in between Sale and Quintana. Other than that, I expect a busy winter with trades for position players.
