8/3 Game-thread- Quintana vs. Gibson. 1:10 CSN
GGajewski18 replied to BigHurt3515's topic in 2014 Season in Review
Quintana hitting 94 this first inning, I like it. -
QUOTE (daggins @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) Wonder what the Reds would want for Latos. MLBTR had a blurb saying they were "dangling" him at the deadline. About to get expensive but definitely good and still young. I'd love to add Latos and/or Bruce in the off season.

Freudenberg also making his debut tonight with Kanny.
-
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:08 AM) Ben Brewster with a nice A+ debut: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 3 SO. He has been moving through the system real quick.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) Jason Castro comes to mind Ahhh great call. I'm kind of hoping a pitcher

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 05:41 PM) Brian Clark has been pretty good so far: 23 IP, 5 BB, 26 SO, 1 HR I liked that pick quite a lot, though obviously he should be good at this level. Hopefully it continues tonight. Honestly, that whole pitching staff of the 2014 draftees in Great Falls have been pitching pretty damn well.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 04:50 PM) Viciedo can't even get the start against a lefty. Pathetic year from him, frustrating that this team can't seem to develop a position player in house. Or maybe they just weren't looking at the right type of guys under the previous regime. Who knows but Viciedo just the last in the line of promising young position players that for whatever reason stalled out around replacement level. Sierra has been playing real well lately. Hitting 297 and playing a solid RF. -
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) I'm guessing they had something lined up with the Mariners but then Detroit got them involved in the Price talks and Franklin went to TB. Franklin would have been a decent fit in Chicago, guy you give 150 PA to in the next 40 odd games and see if he hits enough to come into next year as the starter. Seems like Marcus is bound for a super utility guy career. Franklin would not be on the Sox. They don't need more IF prospects.

Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN · 33m Rick Hahn said #WhiteSox were working on 3-team deal to get someone they've long targeted on Thurs. No other details provided. Really interesting. Targeted someone who they have been on for a while. Maybe in the off season this will be brought back up? I wish names or teams were mentioned.

According to Bruce Levine Bruce Levine @MLBBruceLevine · 23m White SoxGM Rick Hahn said he thought had a significant three way trade that fell though at the deadline . Bruce Levine @MLBBruceLevine · 22m Hahn said he still hopes the white sox are active on waiver wire deals that can be made this month . Bruce Levine @MLBBruceLevine · 20m Hahn said the reporting on trade rumors for his club were at an all time low for accurate names and destinations . Bruce Levine @MLBBruceLevine Hahn on watching 7 All Stars traded without his club participating " I felt like the kid looking out the window ,watching his friends play "

He was just designated for assignment by the Indians. Had a pretty good year last year but has struggled this year. Sox do have an open spot on their 40 man roster now. I would definitely put in a claim on this kid. Not to mention, he is from Illinois. Sorry its McAllister.

Lindstrom and Garcia starting rehab assignments 2nite
GGajewski18 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I cannot wait to see these guys back in Sox uniforms. Avi in terms of development and just the fact to see another part of the young core Sox are building playing. And Lindstrom bringing the veteran presence in the bullpen. I really think he gets resigned in the off season. -
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) I still maintain that Leury is a great addition to a contending baseball team, especially an NL one that likes to put all its PR/defensive utility eggs all in one basket given the need for competent PH and the DH for interleague games. But here on a garbage club he just looks useless. Sox aren't garbage. They're average. They're are a bullpen away from probably being in the race for the wild card.

Let's get over the hump of getting to 2 games under lol -
C Flowers- If he can hit at least 250 with these magical glasses, I don't mind him at catcher, it really seems that he is seeing the ball better and has more confidence with these glasses offensively and defensively 1B Abreu- No explanation needed 2B Semien- Just get rid of Beckham and give this kid the starting spot SS Alexei- He's not going anywhere if Sox want to compete soon 3B Gillaspie- Really improved offensively and defensively. Turning into one of my favorite players on the team LF Garcia- Part of the core. Move him to LF because I have a feeling Hahn is going to make a huge move. CF Eaton- Catalyst of this team, leader already, plays the game right and is good at it. RF- Jay Bruce- Acquired for Viciedo, Beck, Sanchez and John Danks DH Matt Davidson- Platoon with Gillaspie at 3B Bench Nieto L Garcia Sierra ?? Rotation Sale Shields (4 years/70 million) Quintana Rodon Noesi/Rienzo/Johnson Bullpen Putnam Webb Gregorson Marshall (acquired with Bruce) Petricka Belisario Another lefty than Surkamp

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 11:30 PM) So this might not been as close as we would have hoped, and I am told the money and players changing hands pretty much put them at an impasse. do you know of the teams that were discussed for Danks and money or players?
