  1. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 10:06 PM) Dane Stone with another gem of a start. 8.0 IP, 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 6K. Posted this about him last week: Northside? He deserves a promotion. He needs to join McKenzie at Kanny.
  2. Winston Salem will need to make a move.
  3. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20140716 Birmingham- Scott Snodgress Winston Salem- Marin Kannapolis- Brennan Great Falls- Stone AZL- TBD Charlotte is off
  4. Royals acquire RP Jason Frasor from the Rangers for minor leaguer RHP Spencer Patton
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) I agree, esp with Hahn at the helm, that is unless JR say different. Agreed. Beckham needs to go. With Semien, Johnson, Sanchez and Saladino waiting in the wings, he's very expendable and it would be dumb to hang onto him when those players can provide the same production at a fifth of the cost.
  6. I love Conor. Wouldn't be opposed to trading him. But we are most likely losing Dunn next season, if Gillaspie and Davidson could be a platoon at 3B and DH next year, I think that would suffice pending other moves to be made. Right now, I'd rather have Davidson in the lineup rather than Dunn anyway.
  7. Brennan to Kanny. Dykstra to Winston Salem.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 08:45 PM) Honestly not the best video of Micah there. Looked horribly fooled on most swings. They were talking about his 2 strike approach and his ability to fight off pitches...
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 11:27 AM) The quality of the player matters though too. Ramirez is not the defensive player he was 2-3 years ago and his offense hasn't gotten any better (or worse, for that matter). He may be the best SS on the market, but that doesn't immediately make him worth a top 25-50 prospect or two top 100 prospects. Peavy was coming off a very good season and he hadn't pitched poorly leading up to his trade last year either. Again, I'm not saying they have to deal Ramirez, but I think you have to be more willing to deal him than you are suggesting. Alexei is hitting .282, 15 doubles, 2 triples, 8 HRs, 41 RBIs, 15 SBs, slugging 400 and an OPS of 718. Of course he was going to hit some sort of slump because he was not going to maintain the 330-350 average that he was hitting before. Those are still great numbers for a SS who is on a great contract and has a solid career. You can definitely net a great deal.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:26 AM) That's fine, if we don't get a top 10 in MLB prospect that's ok, but if we can't get somewhere in the range of top 25-ish or couple top-100 then I don't have any good reason to listen. What'd you think of my proposal then?
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) I think a Samardzija like return is asking for too much unless the Sox package another player with him. The Cubs traded Shark and Hammel to get Russell (plus those other pieces, which are nothing to be scoffed at). Also, Alexei Ramriez is 32 years old. He turns 33 by the end of the season. Samardzija is 29 and doesn't turn 30 till the offseason. Maybe if the Sox included someone like Gillaspie they could get that return, but that's about it. I also have no problem with a Peavy-esque return for Ramirez whatsoever. I agree. The Peavy return still netted the Sox Avisail Garcia who was a top 100 prospect in the 50-60 range I believe. If we can package in Viciedo or another player like my proposal above, I think we really can net that package for Alexei and Viciedo.
  12. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20140714 Birmingham- Snodgress Winston Salem- Bucciferro Great Falls- Ball Charlotte and Kannapolis off
  13. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 09:33 AM) Alexei would have net us a Samardzija like return about a month and a half ago, but his BA dropped about 50 points since then. Nonetheless, I would like to see a pitching or catching prospect ranked in or just outside the Top 100, and I think that's realistic. People are forgetting Semien already, I think he can still cut it as a SS. Quietly, he picked up himself bounced back nicely in Charlotte since demotion. Exactly. He's easily the best SS that will be available. I think of the Mariners, and they have interest in Viciedo too. So if I'm Hahn, I would offer Alexei and Viciedo for Taijuan Walker, Brandon Maurer, Gabriel Guerrero, and Tyler Pike.
  14. Semien 2-3 HR, 3 RBIs Davidson 2-3 HR, 3 RBIs Taylor 2-2 HR, 4 RBIs Hawkins 0-3 2Ks DeMichele 2-2 Coats 1-2 2B Rondon 1-2 2B May 0-2
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) 3-run homer for Davidson. Finally not a solo shot!
  16. Doren is having an Erik Johnson outing. Goldberg has sucked this whole year.
  17. Goldberg is starting instead of Olacio today for the Dash.
  18. Max Wildstein ⚾️ ‏@MaxWildstein 7m #Reds Chien-Ming Wang will opt out of his #MiLB deal and will sign with the #ChiSox, sources tell @GSIntegration. #MLB lol
  19. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) Question - where do Carlos Sanchez and Micah Johnson fall into the minor league rankings of IF prospects? I had heard Jim Callis say he thinks he'll become any everyday/solid MLB player, but, as fans, are we setting up ourselves for a fall if these guys are just average players? Granted, we may need both of these guys in the near future with Ramirez being a free agent and Beckham being Beckham, and our minor league system does need to produce lower cost options.... Micah Johnson is ranked 3rd among MiLB 2nd basemen and Carlos Sanchez is not ranked in the top 10 but that's understandable.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) You don't "use an option" on a guy when you bring him up. You use an option year when he is on the 40-man roster and assigned to the minors at any point during the season. So Sanchez has already burned an option year this year and no amount of bringing him up and sending him down affects that. Thank you for the clarification. My apologies.
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 10:07 AM) Maybe we can dump Gordon over the break Exactly what I was thinking. It would really suck to use an option on Sanchez for one game...
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) Who the hell is Doran? Is he related to Bill(y) Doran who used to play for the Astros in the 80's? Bill Duran Doran, etc. Bobby Doran. They just acquired him the other day from the Astros for SS Jeffery Santos. Big right hander. 25 years old.
  23. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20140713 Charlotte- Doran Birmingham- Jaye Winston Salem- Olacio Kannapolis- Leyer Great Falls- Freudenberg
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 09:52 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/cubs-sit-th...&ocid=yahoo How much would the Cubs have to eat in salary to take Edwin Jackson back from the Cubs and for Cooper to rehab him into a top-flight starter again? Impossible to happen? Probably. But it would be sweet revenge. I'd give them Scott Snodgress and they eat half of remaining contract.
