  1. 6. John Danks (#4 now with Samardzija and Hammel traded but interesting to see him this high) Ugh, Heyman said Danks had TJ..... 19. Alexei Ramirez 33. Adam Dunn 43. Gordon Beckham 48. Dayan Viciedo
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 11:03 AM) Then you don't trade him. This has been said before. Exactly. Like others have said, Quintana is a key piece to the Sox "retooling". Sale and Quintana at the top of a rotation for a combined 14 years worth 108 million is a steal. Most teams would love to have their top 2 starters locked up long term with those terms.
  3. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 10:53 AM) Quintana is the only trade legitimate trade chip that will bring back a significant amount of talent that can help in the near term. The Sox have consistently struggled to attract top tier talent in free agency, so if this team is going to improve it is going to need to be through the trade market. A deal with the Jays with Beckham for Sanchez, Norris and Pompey would be something to consider. Based on his age, contract status, and performance, he should have as much value as Smardzjia did in a deal. That would never happen. Jays have focused on Prado/Hill and Headley I believe.
  4. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 7m Sources: White Sox are willing to move Gordon Beckham in the right deal now, but Jose Quintana remains unavailable. @FOXSports1
  5. I thought Tim Anderson was going to be on there? I know he's on Jason Parks' top 50.
  6. Barnum and Coats both 2-2
  7. Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo · 13m Source: No "significant talks" between #Mariners, #WhiteSox on a trade for Dayan Viciedo http://sbnation.com/e/5637244
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) and is sea going to be forced to trade or make multi trades as well. remember sea just made a crap load of spending in the offseason. they made that spending for what, to come in 3rd in the American League West? Agreed. They are "All in" this year so it seems to the fans eye. If they don't make the playoffs with everything they did in the off season, then some people in the Seattle front office better not to close to his seat because its going to be hot.
  9. I was there yesterday, and the crowd was just awesome. It was good to see just over 30k attend the game. Sox put on a show in the game and the fireworks after.
  10. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) CC is out for the year and someone else posted that the Yanks were looking at him. KW has long loved Betances and Banuelos apparently, though I'm not sure how much that flame flickers anymore, but Hahn has been on their catchers since at least the offseason. Seems like it could work, but I'd want something back, not just a dump. Danks looks like he could still be a winner, and if so the salary isn't a problem, really the move would be more about clearing a lefty slot for Rodon IMO. Thoughts/rumors on this? Rosenthal just tweeted that Yankees and Cubs were in discussion for Samardzija. Obviously didn't have that piece like the A's did, but hopefully they start looking at Danks.

  12. Angels and A's both make moves to strengthen their team. Who else is waiting for the Mariners to overpay for Viciedo?
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 11:21 PM) Well, that's a lot. You can add Beckham and probably Petricka and Putnam too. Alexei must be put front and center. Ah yes you're right. Forgot about Beckham.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 10:27 PM) The sox have lots of trade chips though. It's not like they don't have a chance to add. Who exactly? Viciedo, De Aza, Danks, Alexei, Dunn, Gillaspie, Belisario, Lindstrom (when healthy). That's all I got.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 02:36 PM) I don't see Tank being a great fit in Fenway. He's never been great at getting loft on the ball and he isn't a pull hitter in the air, either. Unless you throw him a hanging curveball lol
  16. Braulio Ortiz gets promoted to AA, Sanchez to the Dash
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 02:14 PM) That was my point? Ok, didn't know if you meant it during the season or not. Then if Hahn does acquire a LFer, then with the departure of Dunn, move Viciedo to DH.
  18. Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo · 19m Could the #Mariners finally land Dayan Viciedo this summer? Maybe if they send Brandon Maurer to the #WhiteSox http://sbnation.com/e/5635370 Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo · 17m Heard yesterday that #Mariners are targeting RH bats at the deadline. Viciedo, who they've liked since 2012, fits. http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2014/7/4/58713...est-from-giants …
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 02:07 PM) I am saying the Sox bring someone in the offseason. No one was pushing De Aza out of CF last season but the Sox do have a new CF this year don't they? None of this was communicated nor will it happen. Some writer was throwing names like he knew what he was talking about. Yes but acquiring that CF was during the off season and De Aza in CF was worse than Viciedo in LF.
  20. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 02:05 PM) The alternative is a roster spot, which as I've been arguing, is more valuable than a .5 WAR player. Hahn has found some under-valued players (Eaton, Conor) so I'd rather give him the flexiblity to aquire another LF in the offseason rather than again being tied to Viciedo. So you have the opportunity cost and the very real return that you might get for trading him. So, trade him. Yes you can trade him, but you have to make sure the value is there. If it's not there, then there is no point of making the deal. Sounds like you want him traded for pine tar.
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) The White Sox need to add value to the offense and his marginal play is covering a position that could address a need. So there is incentive to move him so they can bring in someone who actually plays to their potential and provides a middle-of-the-order type output. I'd love Brandon Belt in the offseason. I don't know if he can still play LF but I'd love for him to be the left-handed 1B/DH/LF middle-of-the-order power source. He just turned 26 and could be pushed out of SF with Posey shifting over to 1B and Susac/Sanchez taking over the catching duties. Talk about a guy finally figuring it out too. He hasn't done anything until this year, and then gets hurt.
  22. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) Actually I like DeLa Rosa the best. I do get the benefit to see them at AAA and Boston. Webster gives up too many homeruns although maybe that can be fixed. Workman seems to be struggling once he got in the Red Sox rotation. The Cubs really worked him over this week. But I would take a package of DeLaRosa and guessing they will throw in Nava which would would give us another LH outfield bat. Hopefully Cherington feels Viciedo could tear up the wall in Fenway. Boy that would be a steal. The second player would not be from the current roster, it would be a prospect.
  23. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) We're rebuilding. We have a 25 year old with tremendous power to all fields. He's still under team control. It's pretty simple really. Chances are he never figures it out, but there absolutely no prospects pushing him. I'm. It sure what the big deal is really. I don't give a s*** if the Sox deal him or not. I just don't see much sense in moving him for little to no value. Boom. Some guys just don't see that.
  24. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 3m Cardinals are inquiring with teams about starting pitching, source says. They have Wacha, Garcia, Kelly on DL. @FOXSports1 Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 3m Cardinals also in the market for a hitter. They have not had much production at second base this year. Maybe Danks and Beckham could intrigue them?
