  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) The White Sox need to add value to the offense and his marginal play is covering a position that could address a need. So there is incentive to move him so they can bring in someone who actually plays to their potential and provides a middle-of-the-order type output. I'd love Brandon Belt in the offseason. I don't know if he can still play LF but I'd love for him to be the left-handed 1B/DH/LF middle-of-the-order power source. He just turned 26 and could be pushed out of SF with Posey shifting over to 1B and Susac/Sanchez taking over the catching duties. Talk about a guy finally figuring it out too. He hasn't done anything until this year, and then gets hurt.
  2. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) Actually I like DeLa Rosa the best. I do get the benefit to see them at AAA and Boston. Webster gives up too many homeruns although maybe that can be fixed. Workman seems to be struggling once he got in the Red Sox rotation. The Cubs really worked him over this week. But I would take a package of DeLaRosa and guessing they will throw in Nava which would would give us another LH outfield bat. Hopefully Cherington feels Viciedo could tear up the wall in Fenway. Boy that would be a steal. The second player would not be from the current roster, it would be a prospect.
  3. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) We're rebuilding. We have a 25 year old with tremendous power to all fields. He's still under team control. It's pretty simple really. Chances are he never figures it out, but there absolutely no prospects pushing him. I'm. It sure what the big deal is really. I don't give a s*** if the Sox deal him or not. I just don't see much sense in moving him for little to no value. Boom. Some guys just don't see that.
  4. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 3m Cardinals are inquiring with teams about starting pitching, source says. They have Wacha, Garcia, Kelly on DL. @FOXSports1 Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 3m Cardinals also in the market for a hitter. They have not had much production at second base this year. Maybe Danks and Beckham could intrigue them?
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 01:20 PM) Care to expound on this without using the word upside? Whether you can see it or not, his plate discipline has gotten better. I mean of course your going to swing at balls out of the zone but he has gotten better of laying off the curveball or slider in the dirt. His K% has gone down each year while his walk rate has gone up each year including this year. It's just his swing of course is that he takes a home run hack every single time it looks like, with his bat speed, and the way the ball flies off his bat, if he can just shorten it up a little bit, he could hit for a better average. Time will tell though, and I know some have given up. Whether its with the White Sox or not, the kid is 25, yes we as a board have given examples of late bloomers but with the raw talent he has, you don't want to give him up for nothing like some teams have done in the past. It's all about patience with some players, in my opinion Viciedo is worth waiting for whether its in LF, RF or DH. With that said, if the right deal where the Sox can get a couple of quality pitchers, I would trade him because pitching is indeed more important and Hahn can replace his bat within the system (or stop gap De Aza), free agency, or trade.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 01:05 PM) Those speculative Red Sox offers are silly. I would throw in a bag of balls and drive everyone to the airport to make that happen. I still think Viciedo is worth a lot more than what you guys think of him.
  7. Huge Illini fan here, Illinois has 3 scholarships left for the 15 class. I really think they'll get Jawan Evans, Elijah Thomas and Bragg/Doral Moore.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 12:50 PM) The fact that teams are talking about sending young pitching for Viciedo probably tells us that the league doesn't think as little of him as Sox fans do. Completely agree. Teams know he has high potential.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 11:55 AM) Any cheap bastards thinking about going tonight, $20 gets you in the k zone with a t-shirt, fireworks and $1 hot dogs. Today is 1$ hot dogs, or just in the K Zone?

  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 11:10 AM) As opposed to nontendering him? Yes. As opposed to trading him? What's the return? If he put up those numbers, of course I would love to still have him, but if the right offer was there then I think I would deal him. If the Mariners offered Brandon Maurer and Austin Wilson then yes I would say yes. If the Red Sox offered Allen Webster and Anthony Raunado/Brian Johnson I would say yes to that too.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 10:53 AM) I get that too, but I'm looking at his 2nd year arbitration status next year and realizing that the time it might take for him to figure it out will start getting a lot more expensive soon. Say Viciedo hits 265 with 20 HRs and 65 RBIs this season, do you keep him next year and part of your young core?
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 10:41 AM) Agreed. I'm shocked teams are actually still interested in Dayan. It's like they haven't watched him the last few months. Because teams still see potential in him. He's only 25. Just a matter of figuring it out like some of us have said the whole time.
  14. I'll be at the game tonight. Section 148 row 1 seats 3 & 4. Let's go Sox!!
  15. Honestly, any one of those 3 have me giddy from the Red Sox, just add another pitcher with one of the 3.
  16. Maurer scared me a little bit. I wouldn't mind Allen Webster and Anthony Raunado from the Red Sox though....
  17. Micker 2-2 with 2B and RBI
  18. Wendelken gives up solo blast in the first to Nick Williams. Then blew a fastball by Alfaro. The fence to left is 308....
  19. Thompson with a 2R HR
  20. Ravelo 2-2 with 2 doubles lol. Trey 1-1
  21. Ravelo with another double.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 12:37 PM) People still sleeping on Coats. He gets overshadowed in that OF by Hawkins and May, but Coats is becoming a real prospect in my view. At 24 already, if he continues well, I'd send him to AAA to start next season.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 11:35 AM) So no Hawkins or Anderson tonight on TV. I've seen Keenyn Walker! At least May, Barnum, and DeMichele could be interesting.
  24. Hawkins placed on the DL with a concussion. Sox can't catch a break in the show and the minors. Jeez.
