QUOTE (flavum @ May 16, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) 30 seconds in. Nice. Lol that was launched. Pretty wild. But that could be nerves, pitching in an all star game.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 16, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) I'm firmly on the Aiken train. Sorta kinda preferring an underslot Freeland over Rodon currently too. He's getting rave reviews. BA loves him. Getting a Chris Sale vibe from him. Lanky lefty, similar armslot, similar pitch mix too (though the change isn't stellar). Sale's wasn't stellar coming out either. He had to develop that change up. Sale was all fastball slider coming out.

Trey 1-1 with a run Dykstra 2 IP 1 hit and 2 Ks so far

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2014 -> 02:19 PM) Bassitt told me he's targeting an ASB return, so not likely him. Other possibilities... Adam Lopez was targeting May originally, but I doubt they push him straight to to AA. Montas has looked good in A+ but again, seems like a rush. Bucciferro is more age-appropriate in AA but he's been just OK at W-S. McCray is supposedly out for a long time, Cose is gone for the year. For now, they may just have an AA reliever with some starting history do that for a while. Nester Molina...

I would love 1 of Aiken, Rodon or Kolek. Why are many down on Kolek?

10 consecutive games and 13 of the next 16 games all against teams not in the playoffs last year. Hopefully Sox can capitalize on this. -
Terry Doyle gets released. Roster now at 24. Figure Bassitt is back or they call someone up

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 16, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) Yep. Another groundballer. Seems like an org-wide philosophy may be taking hold, possibly. Need to see him in more age-appropriate level before long. True, but remember he was only drafted last summer.
-
Dykstra is pitching for Kanny too. He's worth mentioning, he keeps it up, he will earn himself a promotion also.

McCully gives up 5 in the first. Smith with a bomb.

Reinsdorf is on Commish search committee

Say JR got the commissioner job, who would take over the White Sox then? -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 15, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) Sorry, missed Surkamp. Wheeler? Andre? He was drafted. Now if you want to consider his 2013 draft, that's another whole list. Yeah, was Hahn the GM during the 2012 draft? Because I was only doing 2013 key players that I think can get to MLB from that draft.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 15, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) Peavy Rios trade obviously need to be evaluated on dollar terms, but the Rios for L. Garcia is kind of a huge bust for me right now. Yeah, looking in hindsight, Rangers got a major steal, wonder what Sox could of got if he was a deadline deal last year. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 15, 2014 -> 05:06 PM) Love the index in the OP, nicely done. LHP Eric Surkamp as a waiver claim might be worth mentioning. Also there are a handful of minor leaguers he has picked up that are still down there, most are non-prospects but a couple have a little interest maybe. Guys like Mike Recchia, Jake Sanchez, David Putman. But not sure it is worth even assigning those to him, he probably only signed a piece of paper in those cases. Thank you. I was considering Wheeler also. I did mention Surkamp in the waivers by the way.

I have saved this to my laptop and will continue to update this along with minor league rosters as we go on.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 15, 2014 -> 02:11 PM) The only move I didn't like at the time was the Peavy deal, as I've long thought Avisail overrated before we acquired him. I'm still not a big Avi fan, but I do believe it was the best deal that was on the table, and I think moving Peavy then was the right thing to do. I really believe Avi is a huge part of the core and is pretty solid considering his age (only 22), he still has plenty of time to develop, just like Viciedo. Not to mention Montas has had 2 great starts so far, Rondon is in the 260s with a great glove in Kanny and Wendelken has average numbers as a starter but he K's a lot of people and doesn't walk anybody, I think he'll be best in the bullpen. Remember, Avi is the oldest player in that deal too. Those 3 are all 21 or younger.

IMO, like I'm sure most of us, he has done a tremendous job overhauling this team to make it a young yet competitive team that can push for the playoffs if not this season but for sure down the road. What are your guys' thoughts so far on his moves and if I missed anything, please tell me and I can edit this and possibly we can sticky this while we monitor Hahn's moves in the future. I think it would be beneficial to us to see how well he has done so far for this team in a short period of time.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 15, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) All good moves to see. Recchia didn't belong in A+, and I'm interested to see what Lowry brings to the table as a starter. FYI, talked with Bassitt, he says they are targeting a return around the all star break. Non-baseball injury, but don't know anything beyond that, and didn't want to push the subject. Really hope Bassitt can come back soon, he's already 25 and in AA, I think it would be huge if he lost a year. I too am very interested to see Lowry with Kanny. I also want to see Chris Fruedenberg in Kanny at some point this season.

Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 17m Hahn on Keppinger decision: "We are focusing on the future as opposed to trying to justify a decision from the past." Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 17m Per Rick Hahn, Jeff Keppinger is healthy. Shoulder has responded well. Move was made to give more PT to Gillaspie, Semien, Beckham. Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 16m Hahn on the signing: "It didn’t work. That’s on me." Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 16m Hahn had a brief conversation with Keppinger this morning. He understood CWS rationale for move and they wished each other well Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 7m Hahn said a position change for someone in the plethora of Minor League infield talent is "conceivable" down the line. But .... Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 7m The goal is development with these players. So they are not throwing something new at them as they are getting comfortable. Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 1m Rick Hahn also thanked chairman Jerry Reinsdorf for flexibility to DFA Jeff Keppinger, which could cost Sox whats left on $8.5 mill deal.
