  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) Talk about leaving a pitcher in for way too long. Oh well, just a terrible start by Johnson today. With his next start in Colorado, he better be a lot sharper. Our bullpen is probably gassed already...
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 04:37 PM) Minnesota has two of them. Call 'em up, we can give them De Aza. I hope this is sarcasm
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) Sox need a legitimate long reliever in the pen. When you're going to lose anyway, you need one guy that's going to take one for the team, so you have a fresh pen the next day. Dyland Axelrod
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 01:16 PM) About 2/3 of the games he's played in the minors he started at SS. I was thinking this earlier today too. I would love an infield of Abreu, Micah Johnson, Semien and Davidson.
  5. What games have you guys chosen? I'm gonna do the Sunday Rays game.
  6. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 12:56 PM) Like wite said..I don't expect them to be prolific all year, but I do like the 3rd in OBP. If they can even get to the middle of the pack on that this year they would give themselves so many more opportunities to score runs. The problem last year is no one was ever on base. I think with the additions of Eaton and Abreu and Semien to an extent, they should be at least seeing more pitches and driving the starters out of games earlier than last year and get to the bullpens.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 12:45 PM) Ready for Perez, Guthrie, Cy, and Butler to kill us for another season? Only if they're ready for Eaton, Abreu and Semein to kill them.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 09:33 AM) Wind blowing left to right 10-20 mph. De Aza 2 more? I'll go out on a limb and say Abreu gets his first career HR today to right center.
  9. Good first test for Johnson against a good Royals line up. Let's win another series.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 09:14 AM) People have disagreed and said that there is a mechanical change he may need to make to exploit his power - that he drives the ball too much into the ground, and thus hits too many ground balls/bloops. I can see that because I think he's trying to get inside on the ball on inside pitches and try to take them the other way when he needs to pull those for doubles and home runs, so I can see your point right there too.
  11. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20140404 Rienzo starting for Charlotte. Jaye starting for Birmingham. Goldberg starting for Winston Salem. Danish starting for Kannapolis.
  12. Encouraging to see Davidson and Micah start off the season well. I still can see Micah play a quality second base, he played pretty well at second in spring training. Also nice to see Barnum draw 3 walks last night. Disappointed in Thompson going 0-5
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 09:07 AM) I dont think its things like Mechanics or balance like Beckham has struggled with, I think his pitch recognition needs work and it will come with playing every day at the MLB level. This is rebuilding folks, young players WILL struggle and learn. I hope everyone hasnt forgotten that. I agree. It's not mechanics, its definitely pitch recognition.
  14. Holy crap. 4 errors for WS, this time Wendelken. Dykstra has given up 2 runs.
  15. Sucks that Lindstrom couldn't close out the game this afternoon but I'm excited that this team fought back on two occasions to regain the lead. Winning 2 out of 3 isn't bad at all. Let's keep doing that.
  16. This is why you need good starting pitching that can go deep into games. That's why I see Sox drafting a pitcher come draft day.
  17. If you're going to critique him. At least spell defense right. He's 22 years old. This team is young and inexperienced. This season will be full of emotion just like Hawk said during the game today. Exciting and heartbreaking all year. This team will grow and the young players (hopefully) will grow as the season goes along. It was game 3 of 162 today...
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) You guys think I'm a moron for saying this all the time, but Nate Jones' arm delivery is awful. I only saw one other guy throw like that, Keith Foulke. I don't know how any pitching coach can allow him to pitch that way. Some of you guys who were pitchers ... do u agree with me?? His arm delivery is not conducive to anything positive. No. Some guys are unique. Look at Paco Rodriguez from the Dodgers as an example and had a great year last year.
