Hoffman's stat line so far this season: 0-1, 21.1 IP, 14 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 6 BBs, 26 Ks, 2.53 ERA, .182 BAA Beede's stat line so far this season 3-0, 18 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 5 BBs, 24 Ks, 1.00 ERA, .085 BAA

Never mind I found one. At least Eaton had a strong game. Davison got a double and Viciedo went 1-2.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 1, 2014 -> 09:23 AM) Some no-name pitcher....Latin. Poveda. At first I thought we brought back Aaron Poreda and it was a misprint. Is there a box score on the game anywhere?

Who gave up the other 3 runs besides Petricka's 2 run HR he gave up?

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 06:07 PM) Hoffman with a dominating start vs W. Ky today Beede with a great start against Stanford Turner 0-4, still only one XBH this year With a strong year, Beede can make himself into a top 5 pick. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 06:14 PM) 8IP, 1R, 0ER, 1BB, 14K for Hoffman That's dominance from Hoffman. How good is Western Kentucky?

NorthSide, thank you very much. Great list, I'm going to copy and paste on an excel document as we go on. Few comments: You really think Mitchell is going to start the year in AA? At 25, and a strong fall, I would think he would start in AAA. I would not have Leury Garcia on the bench in AAA. Have him get everyday reps in CF ahead of Tekotte, and then give him time in the infield when one of Davidson, Sanchez, and Semein need rest. That Birmingham starting rotation has me all sorts of giddy. Winston Salem is going to be fun to watch with all the development of the offensive players and pitchers like Olacio, Ortiz and Montas. I believe Danish will start in Kanny, but expect him to finish at Winston Salem.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 01:45 PM) Um, no it wasn't, the rationale was that he was 1 year away from free agency and was hurt all the ****ing time so there was virtually no chance the Sox would even think about extending him. Considering that he has played 1/2 a season each year with the Padres and is being very well paid to do so, I'd still say that was the right move. Plus, wasn't Viciedo coming up around that time? If so, It was his time to be given a shot.

Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan 6m Batter man up. Robin Ventura models cap. pic.twitter.com/SmcTNS5Jit The ever popular 83 jerseys are back sporting a new hat. I would love if the Sox wore these jerseys every home game.

I was wondering if any of you can give me the run down of the rosters for the minors this year for AAA, AA, A+, and A. I'm really excited for this upcoming season both in the majors and in the minors with more promising prospects the Sox have in the system now. If you guys can help me out, that would be great so I can generate some expectations.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) I'm really looking forward to following Chris Beck this year. Beck is one of many minor leaguers I have my on this season. It's nice to have some exciting prospects in the system again.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 03:32 PM) Any other notes from the scrimmage? How did Beck look? As someone said, faced the minimum. Also, 5 of those outs were via the ground ball.

Pitcher: Jordan Zimmerman Position: Freddie Freeman

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) Hoffman goes 6.2 IP, 5 hits, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K Not the best. Faced a good Virginia team though.

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) +1, especially given the White Sox lack of trust in high school pitching (at least, according to Hawk and Stone) Exactly. Turner is off to a fast start this season batting 8/16 (all singles), 4 RBIs, 2 BBs, 0 K's, 5-5 in stolen bases and has a 1000 Fielding % through 4 games.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 03:06 PM) Last 5 #3 picks: 2013 - Jonathan Gray 2012 - Mike Zunino 2011 - Trevor Bauer 2010 - Manny Machado 2009 - Donovan Tate So.... Two appear to be busts, one is elite, and the last two are too early to tell though Zunino is moving toward the bust column, but still has a lot of time to recover. After Rodon and Hoffman, there aren't any guys that you can look at and know a guy is a MLB'er. If the Sox miss out on those two, I am all for them saving money in the first to spread out on guys throughout the draft that slide, like they did with Michaleski last year. Of course another guy could have a great year and vault himself into the conversation, but at this point, I dont see that can't miss guy. If those two are gone, I'm taking Trea Turner. Not a doubt in my mind.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 01:27 PM) The Sox were rumored to be willing to spend $120 million on Tanaka. Say they're willing to spend that on other free agents too of a similar ilk. If you give out the $48 million, that pool of money has now decreased to $72 million, and over the 6 year deal, you can now only commit $12 mill per year rather than $20 mill. That is a huge, huge difference. Players like Price, Latos, Iwakuma, and even Fister become virtually impossible to sign 2 years from now, and we don't know what's going to come over from Cuba, Japan, and even Korea. If the Sox trade for someone, they may not be able to extend them. They may not be able to re-sign all the guys they'd like to on the current roster to extensions, thinking specifically of Quintana and Jones right now. It's like when you get a big check and someone says "don't spend it all in one place." This is like that, except that the Sox already had that money. If Scherzer becomes available in two years, I think Hahn would definitely take a run at him. He would get more than Tanaka but by then, Hahn will have Dunn, Keppinger, and Beckham off the books. Use that money on Scherzer and your rotation is set for the next 5 years. Sale Scherzer Quintana (extension) Danks (will become FA after that year) Beck/Bassitt

I really like Abreu's professionalism so far both on the field, in the media, and in the clubhouse. Beckham and Eaton already gave him the nickname "Yogi" because he looks like a bear lol. Like a poster above said if this all goes as planned, the core of this line up has so much potential. The core of Abreu Garcia Davidson Eaton Viciedo Semein Mix in couple key free agents and this team can be competing for a while, but everything has to go as planned.

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) Would love for Hoffman, Rodon or Turner. Not sold on Kolek Same. Any one of those 3 and I would be beyond happy.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 09:45 PM) Short BA piece on Trea Turner's debut as well. Video too. http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/gam...ss-trea-turner/ If he has a good year, Turner would be number 1 on my board.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) Source? Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo 1h Source mentioned #WhiteSox, #Marlins, #Dodgers, #Mariners in connection with Chris Capuano. Have heard his ask price is still high.
-
Tyler Beede stat line yesterday against Long Beach State. 5 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K. And got the win. Solid line.
-
White Sox interested in LHP Chris Capuano according to Chris Cotillo. Asking price remains high though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 01:36 PM) People have noted Montero in this thread right? Lol wow. That's just awful. I see he's letting himself go a little bit.

Not saying I'd be happy with this but what Sox got Santana for 3 years 36 million with an option year. If he does well, those 2 years, Sox fan flip him for better prospects most likely for the 2nd round pick Sox would give up by getting him.
