In 11 games batting 3rd Alexei now has 10 RBIs
-
Semein sac fly to tie game at 3

Miguel Gonzalez with an RBI double cutting the lead to 3-2. What's the word with this kid? Only 23 years old and already in AAA. Is he much of a prospect?

QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) Joey DeMichele homered in his first AB. He's finally showing some life in August. I really hope he puts it together for next year. Loved when the Sox picked him.

First off, I would not trade for Logan Morrison. This is what I would do if I were Hahn. Sign both Morales and McCann to 2-3 year deals. Next would be finding left handed relief help. JP Howell and Pedro Feliciano come to mind to try and help this bullpen. I would pick up Lindstrom's option to just to give a little depth to the bullpen. As far as the starting rotation goes, I think if Erik Johnson isn't ready, sign one of Josh Johnson, Edinson Volquez or Tim Lincecum. But if Johnson is then push Rienzo to the bullpen to take Axelrod's spot. As far as trades, this is how I would go at it. I could definitely see the Angels being interested in Santiago and/or Quintana. I would rather keep both but for the sake of making the team better, I would trade Santiago to the Angels for CJ Cron, Alex Yarbough and Mike Morin. I then would still try and trade Alexei so I would trade him to the Cardinals for Pete Kozma, Charlie Tilson, and Tim Cooney. Line up would be CF De Aza 2B Beckham C McCann DH Morales 1B Dunn RF Garcia LF Viciedo 3B Gillaspie SS Kozma Bench C Phegley UTIL Garcia OF Danks Free Agent Rotation Sale Quintana Danks Erik Johnson Josh Johnson/Edinson Volquez/Tim Lincecum Bullpen Rienzo Lindstrom Howell Veal Petricka Jones Reed Thoughts?

QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) Would you be ok if Hahn traded Santiago to the mets for a package like this: Wilmer Flores and Ike Davis with a low level high upside arm coming back? Honestly I don't know if the Mets need anymore starting pitching with Harvey, Wheeler, Gee and Niese. But yes I think I would do that trade.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) He will be 30 next year. Not young, but controlled, since injuries delayed him immensely and allowed for us to grab him. Not a lot of mileage on him though. Just for discussion, if the Sox were to sign Choo or Ellsbury. De Aza would be solid in the middle of the order. Choo/Ellbury Beckham Ramirez Dunn Garcia or Konerko/Free Agent/Wikins De Aza Garcia or Konerko/Free Agent/Wilkins Keppinger/Gillespie Phegley

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) De Aza with an absolute BOMB!!! So dynamic in that leadoff spot......Just only if he could walk a bit more & shore up the baserunning. That's why De Aza sticks for next year and possibly a few after that. Still young. And Reed with a 1-2-3 and struck out Mauer. Sox Win!
-
Sale vs Albers Konerko RBI groundout Sale strikes out the side. 1-0 after 1.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 05:43 PM) I'm probably Webb's biggest fan (liked him since his draft year and was my sleeper pick for two years) but I find it funny people are adamant on trading Reed who is only six months older than Webb, has major league experience and is cost controlled. Reed's been a closer for years. No doubt in my mind he's good enough and has the mindset (who knows with Webb). Completely agree. Can't argue with a guy completing over 85% of his save chances and a WHIP right around 1 and about a strike out an inning. Reed will be the closer.

Thompson with a bomb in his first at bat. Hawkins and Ravelo both 1-2. Jaye struggling tonight.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 04:51 PM) I still say Q counts. His jump was crazy. I agree, just didn't know if people would consider that. But yeah, hopefully Petricka and if/when Webb and Johnson come up, this pitching staff can be very very good next year and the rest of this year.

http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130817 Snodgrass and Jaye both pitching tonight. For the Dash, both Cose and Jaye have been pitching well and efficient. Barnum also back for Kanny. Hopefully the offense shows up tonight for all teams.

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 04:40 PM) Has anybody informed Keith Law that the Sox farm system has developed another piece for the big-league club? You can now say that the entire pitching staff has been through the Sox system minus Purcey and Lindstrom. Possibly Quintana?
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) I think Petricka is best suited as a 6th-7th inning guy. If he does well. He'll take Lindstrom's spot in the bullpen. Having Jones and Reed in 8 and 9 is still very good.

QUOTE (lord chas @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) Safe to say looks like Sox will be getting a very minimal return for Crain Hayes said the deal is based on appearance. But anything is better than nothing
-
Earliest Crain will be back is August 29th, got transferred to the 60 day DL.
-
Troncoso goes to the 15 day DL and hopefully stays there. Petricka is 5-0, 1.81 ERA with 58 strikeouts in 54.1 innings. Really happy about this.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 09:39 PM) another K for Jacobs....at least Thornton has been a non-factor for the Red Sox Still be patient. Just in a slump. Hasn't even had a full season in AA
-
Never seen Konerko run that fast before
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) Grand slam for Engel I think we should see him in Kanny soon
-
Quintana sure has battled tonight. But good pitchers step up and he's been proving that. Will still go 6 possibly 7 innings.
