  1. Yankees get: Cutch and Glasnow Pirates get: Quintana and Adujar Sox get: Frazier, Rutherford, Newman, and Keller Thoughts?
  2. Going off the original tweet of raBBit and WSD, I think a package of Glasnow, Newman, Rutherford, and Andujar would make sense for Q.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 07:57 AM) Totally. I also have a lot to do today so I kinda don't want it to happen Selfish! I definitely want it to happen today.
  4. Illinois beats out Iowa for Kendrick Green. Huge get for Illinois. Now rank 42nd in recruiting rankings according to scout.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:46 PM) Unfortunately the Padres are trying to throw out a starting rotation inspired by the expendables I laughed more than I should at this post. I think as currently structured, were a bottom 5 team in the league. We trade Quintana and Robertson in the next few weeks, I'd be convinced we'll be having a top 3 pick. Trade Frazier and Melky at the deadline, were contending for the #1 pick.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) My impression was that woof was a bad thing, origin: Home Alone "Buzz's girlfriend...woof" Us millennials have changed the definition. Sorry about that, bud
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) I don't know if I like the pitching potential, or the offensive juggernaut potential of that team more You would have power: Beer, Collins, Abreu, Moncada, Meadows, Basabe, Machado Speed: Anderson, Moncada, Basabe The ceiling of the rotation is absurd Scary thing is that Sox would still have enough money to acquire an ace pitcher too because of how cheap the lineup is.
  8. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) You just beat me to it! hahahaha LOL, that is fantastic, but yes, that lineup is insane.
  9. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) C- Collins (fingers crossed) 1B - Bell 2B - Moncada SS - Anderson 3B - Machado OF- Meadows OF- Basabe OF- Beer DH - Abreu Fixed it for you, and all I gotta say is Woof.
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:27 PM) And they'll all be unable to resist the shine of "guaranteed rate" branding. Sorry to bring the Cubs into this, but having this young core and hopefully they succeed because the attractiveness from free agents in 2 years, they will take notice. Lester did (it helped that Theo was there), but saw the potential. Hahn and the young core could do the same.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) Or somehow Tilson went really, really right. At age 26 with the money the Sox should have, I'm down of he'd be the last piece. Same. I have a buddy who's a diehard O's fan. I said just watch the Sox sign him in 2 years, he said no way and if it happens he'll buy me a jersey lol.
  12. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) http://www.dailyherald.com/article/2016122...orts/161229711/ No source provided, but speculation that the White Sox asking price to the Pirates is Glasnow, Meadows plus either Bell or Newman I love it. Keep the pricetag really high and force a team's hand. Quintana's contract is especially valuable given the massive free agent deals being handed out left and right. The key for the White Sox is getting the Pirates to agree in priciple for Meadows and Glasnow to headline the deal...and then possibly allow them to negotiate you down to a player like Hayes as the final piece I'd do Q for Meadows, Glasnow, and Bell. Sign me up.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) I agree. The whole purpose of the trade would be to improve the team to make the playoffs. I don't see losing McCutchen and his replacement in one deal making sense for them even with improvement of the pitching with Q. Exactly. Are the Pirates really going to put that much faith into a rookie expecting to put up similar numbers to Cutch? Cutch had a down year, but I don't think Meadows could reach that in his next 2 years given his age. Very well could, but unlikely.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) I guess that would be a very pirates thing to do trying to offset the very cheap Quintana contract by moving Cutch and getting Conforto, but in my head if Q going to the Pirates requires Meadows it will just be a straight up deal and they will avoid the fan headache of losing the hometown star. Agreed. With McCutchen, that lineup is still a really good lineup. Add a really good lineup to a really good rotation and they can be thinking of possibly winning the division or hosting a wild card game.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) Exactly, especially since I'm not quite sure why they are focused on McCutchen to start with Yeah, i don't get it unless they don't want to play Cespedes in CF. They have Cespedes, Bruce, Granderson, and Conforto in the OF already.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) This will be very interesting if its a 3 way trade but super complicated. I haven't seen one yet where I completely get motivation from all three sides. Yeah I agree. I don't see a scenario where the Pirates don't get fleeced and the Mets don't give up enough
  17. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Why would the White Sox want to acquire Bell and Smith? Makes no sense since both are 1B/DH only players Feels light from the Mets Just realized this lol. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) That would be a horrible trade for the Pirates IMO. Yeah I thought so. I was just spit balling. I failed.
  18. Pirates get: Quintana and Granderson (1 year left) Mets get: McCuthcen and Robertson Sox get: Bell, Glasnow, Conforto, Smith, and Dunn Thoughts? At first though, I think this is light from the Mets side.
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) It'll probably be harder to deal him at the deadline. Right now your asking about guys not currently playing in MLB. But some might be come the trade deadline. Ding ding ding. Give me 2 of Meadows, Glasnow, and Bell now that they're not in the majors contributing. If rumors were true like at the deadline regarding the Q to Boston deal for Benintendi, Kopech +, don't want that to happen again in case any of these 3 players from the Pirates break out and won't be available.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) I don't know if it says it's imminent, but perhaps a stamp of approval that it seems to be the case. I don't get the crap Merkin gets, he's a first division beat writer. Hayes is very good too. Doesn't have the 10-15 years of relationships Merkin does but covers the necessary stuff and is a real baseball fanatic. I agree, Rabbit. Love both and are my 2 favorite beat writers. Hayes answers a lot with the fans too on Facebook and twitter. Like you said, with them retweeting the Quintana rumors, I think this rumor actually has legs because they didn't do that with the Yankees or Astros I believe.
  21. Now both Hayes and Merkin have retweeted the Rosenthal tweet saying Pirates still trying to acquire Quintana. I don't recall them usually doing that, so might there be more smoke here?
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) https://www.sny.tv/mets/news/mets-havent-ru...r-him/212078742 Often injured? Has he been hurt in his MLB career? I mean yeah he had surgery in the off season, but I don't think he's ever been on the DL. At least not with the Sox.
  23. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 08:07 AM) If they're asking for Conforto from the Mets they are probably also asking for Robles from the Nats. I dont think anyone will buck up and pay those prices for Robertson's mediocrity. Asking for Conforto lol. Always ask high, then negotiate.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) Man, if he can pitch like he did for them over those final 2 months AND traded for Q: Cole, Quintana, Nova, Taillon 1-4. Exactly. Their rotation would be very good along with their lineup. Quintana, Cole, Nova, Taillon, and Kuhl/Hutchison/Williams is a formidable 5. Maybe signing of Nova is a sign that they will be going for it with McCuthen's last 2 seasons with them. Quintana and Jennings for Meadows, Glasnow, Escobar, and Diaz
  25. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 09:00 PM) Peralta is unflippable. Sox will just be picking up the money and letting him wallow somewhere on the diamond. As for Bader, looks like he'd fit the theme of grabbing guys who have had their stocks slip a bit for dubious reasons. Disagree, he's still a good contact hitter and that could be valuable to a playoff team down the stretch.
