Also logical landing places for Abreu/Frazier/Cabrera

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) I don't see that happening unless they dump Peralta's contract first. I'd take Peralta's contract in a Frazier trade, he only has 1 year left I believe. Flip him at the deadline then. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) I know Illinois basketball fans are pretty down right now too but honestly feels like Missouri basketball has been destroyed in a way that is hard to come back from. Three straight years of nearly all sophomore/juniors transferring away after season. It's like what happened to kU football post Mangino. Missouri is BAD. They're gonna get killed in the SEC this year. -

Grayson Allen trips another player and throws a hissy fit on the bench. In other news, water is wet. Dude needs to be suspended. Jay Williams and Seth Greenberg absolutely grilled him at halftime of the UK/UL game -

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
GGajewski18 replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (peppers312 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) is it at all possible that a sub-par White Sox team affects Quintana's value if he goes into the season as the #1? i mean what if the wheels come off because of a crappy team surrounding him and he has a bad year...? That's why you trade him now. Arguably, Q's value will never be higher, especially on a bad White Sox team. The time is to trade him for both the Sox and Q's sake. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) Meadows and Bell for me. I like Glasnow, but cementing the lineup around the arms we're developing already is exciting to me. Same. Glasnow could be special, but getting those bats and a nice cheap offense could do wonders for this team. -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) I heard that Meadows is unavailable, because they still expect to trade McCutchen, and Meadows would be the heir apparent. If so, then Bell, Glasnow, and Newman have to be in the deal. -

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go

Vicente: What kind of prospects Pirates have to offer to get Quintana? Dave Cameron: Would imagine Chicago would want some kind of package built around two of Meadows, Bell, or Glasnow, with some other stuff involved. I'm drooling if this were the case. Of the 3 there, which 2 would you choose? What other pieces would be included with those other 2? For me, I'd easily go Meadows and Bell with Hayes and Escobar as the final pieces. Although, I could see the Pirates be pushing Glasnow and Bell/Meadows plus others because Q would essentially replace him in the rotation. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 07:58 AM) I'm saying our hypotheticals have been over each time. It's unlikely we get three top 100 prospects when one of those is a near ready top ten. Meadows, Newman, Hayes, and Diaz/Escobar? -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 07:43 AM) I honestly think if Newman is the second piece coming back, also getting a lesser top 100 prospect like Hayes is fair. Kopech & Lopez both had a ton of helium and are better prospects than Newman IMO. Also, it's not like getting three top 100 types is unheard of. The Nationals were offering three for Sale with two of those guys being top 10 types. The Phillies got three top 100 guys for Hamels, although I don't think there was a headliner like Meadows involved. Regardless, it all depends on where these guys are ranked on these lists, as not all top 100 prospects are the same. Agreed, Kopech and Lopez are definitely better prospects than Newman. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 07:04 AM) Meadows and Keller fit with what the sox have been doing this winter. Top prospects in BA who are about 23 and younger. I'm just glad Meadows recovered from that gruesome eye injury. Big fan of his. His arm isn't that great, power is meh (although in our park can certainly help there) but that kid is an incredible player with instincts. Too bad they gave up Reese Mcguire though. Meadows hit 12 homers in just over 300 ABs as a 21 year old. His power grade is 55. I absolutely love the Pirates as potential trade partners. As most of you, been waiting for this to get out. That's now 3 teams publicly interested in Q. Meadows is the headliner for me. Meadows, Newman, Keller, and Hayes for Quintana and Jennings. -
QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 12:51 AM) They have Basabe ahead of Fulmer. Does that mean they have Basabe as Top 100, or that they're low on Fulmer? BA has always been pretty low on Fulmer, but i remember reading one of their chats saying he still might be in the top 100. So, Basabe has a chance to crack the top 100.

QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 20, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) Agreed. In Jack Curry's video on YES from earlier he was saying Hahn is going to want the yankees top 4 or 5 prospects to land Quintana; sounds great...Also said its unlikely this deal gets done. Duh Hahn is gonna say that, then you negotiate and go from there. -

I don't see us getting both Torres and Frazier. I think pick one of them and go from there. I'd go Torres (SS), Rutherford (OF), Andujar (3B), and Fowler (OF) for Quintana -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) KLaw also raved about Carson Kelly and thought Sisco could be a solid starter at catcher I'd love to get Chance Sisco on the Sox. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) We should sign Greg Holland specifically so we can trade Drob to a more desperate team. Saw this on twitter. Derek Holland and Greg Holland = Dutch Brothers.

AJ 12:35 Hi Dave/ When the smoke clears, who else do the White Sox move? I think Robertson is a definite. Don't think there is enough of a market for Abreu and Frazier. And I don't think anyone meets Quintana's asking price. Thanks. Dave Cameron 12:36 I'd bet Robertson, Quintana, Melky, and Frazier all go before Opening Day. Might take an injury in spring training to jumpstart a deal for one of those guys, but I don't think they hold onto any of those guys. Abreu sticks around until next year when there's a thinner RH 1B free agent class. Chat Guy 1:01 If Kopech is getting Syndergaard comparisons, what comparison was Syndergaard getting at the same development point as Kopech? Dave Cameron 1:02 Well Syndergaard didn't throw 100 when he was in the low minors. His velo spiked as he climbed the ladder.

Minty 12:16 How does the switching of the Sox affect your outlook on Moncada? Dave Cameron 12:17 Probably helps him, as the White Sox won't try to rush him to help a team contend. Plus, more likely he can switch to CF now, which is probably his best long-term position, I think. Rob 12:20 What team do you see as the most likely landing spot for Quintana? Could Pittsburgh be a sleeper considering his contract? Dave Cameron 12:20 Houston makes too much sense. Charley 12:20 Is it smarter for Rick Hahn to hold on to Abreu until July or next off-season considering the glut of hitters available this year? Dave Cameron 12:20 Yep
-
Zonk 12:08 After years of dithering, the White Sox seem to be running the offseason as you suggested. Are you impressed so far? Dave Cameron 12:08 Yeah, hard to argue with what they've done. I think Giolito is a bit overrated, so I don't think the Eaton deal was the huge steal other people are talking about, but these were good moves. CarrotJuice 12:09 Clearly the Nats had soured on Giolito. To the best of your knowledge, have multiple teams soured on Giolito as well? Dave Cameron 12:09 Yep. Pretty much everyone I talked to at the winter meetings said their internal rankings were much lower on Giolito than the public ones.

Matt 12:07 What would the Jays have to give up in a hypothetical Melky Cabrera trade? Dave Cameron 12:07 Probably just take the contract.
