  1. 1. I called the poster "Nostradamus" because he was trying to tell me what DeAza will do IN THE FUTURE. No offense was intended. 2. I have been reading the posts on this site for quite awhile; calling someone "Nostradamus" is VERY mild as opposed to how other posters speak to one another.
  2. Yeah, really. I want the Sox to succeed, and I want DeAza to be great, because he'll be the Sox' starting CF.
  3. Bourn has been an all star, has won 2 gold gloves AND stole more bases last season than DeAza has in his entire career. If I was writing the check, I'd stick with DeAza, but, I'm not, so I'd rather have the better player.
  4. Intelligent response. Seriously, you cannot judge a player's ability based on one season as a full time player. There are a ton of players that have had 1 or 2 good seasons and then sucked after that.
  5. He did that ONE TIME! Beckham had a damn good rookie season too, look at him now.
  6. Assuming that AJ isn't coming back, the Sox should go hard after Michael Bourn. He would give the Sox a REAL lead off hitter, a left handed bat, 30-40 stolen bases, gold glove defense, etc., and he's only 28! He'd also give us the flexibilty to trade one of our OFs, maybe for a REAL 3B or a REAL C and/or some bullpen help.
  7. I'd love Trumbo at 3rd...with Keppinger as a late inning defensive replacement/spot starter. (Unfortunately, I think that KW's love for Chone Figgins will show itself very soon!)
  8. Here's the situation...right now, the Sox are no better than they were at the end of last season. In fact, if anything, they're worse. (Flowers for AJ is a downgrade, Keppinger for Youk is a "wash", losing Myers, etc.). Meanwhile the Tigers have added Torii Hunter and have Victor Martinez coming back, the Royals have improved, as have the Angels, Blue Jays, Red Sox, etc. The Sox either have to make some serious upgrades/acquisitions, or they need to trash what they do have and rebuild. IMO the AL Central in winnable, I don't want to rebuild...not yet.
  9. Uribe wasn't that good when he was good!
  10. That's what sucks...with the Sox it always boils down to money. I wish current ownership could find someone like Mark Cuban to buy the team!
  11. Looks like the Rangers could really use Rios in their OF right about now!!!!
  12. Seattle is looking for more power. Just sayin'....
  13. Here's another random thought I've had. Assuming the Rangers do not re-sign Josh Hamilton, they'll have a gaping hole in their lineup/outfield. Wouldn't they be a good trade partner for the Sox? They have an abundance of good young IFs, we can send them one of our starting OFs and Floyd and/or Thornton. Thoughts? Or, since the Red Sox JUST signed Shane Victorino, the Sox could (should) make a move for Elsbury, even though he'll be a FA after the 2013 season.
  14. IMHO, Ackley will never be the fielder that Beckham is, nor will he ever hit as many HRs as Beckham does (will). That said, the Sox are too right-handed, and can definitely use Ackley's bat in the lineup. I would make this deal, especially if the Sox don't re-sign Pierzynski.
  15. Just wondering...a previous poster mentioned that DeAza was a better ballplayer than Ichiro; could somebody please try to explain this inane comment?
  16. As long as AJ is better than any option the Sox have at C (he is!) he should be back!
