Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
ChiSoxJon replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Can't wait On Yolmer and Leury though, they're the types of guys that winning teams have off their bench Yolmer brings a Gold Glove at 2B and can play SS and 3B competently as well with a respectable AVG. Leury brings speed, a consistently high average, and versatility (every OF spot and middle infield) I'd love to see them on the bench of our winning team/teams Let's see what Mendick can do at the pro level, I think Leury and Sanchez offer great value off the bench I haven't seen a strong bench here in ages -

Even if you swap out Nimmo for a FA, this team should be really fun to watch next year...I don't people realize the super-stardom that Robert is going to bring -

Betts is the dream for 2021 Castellanos wouldn't be awful, his age fits in nicely AND he can hit, BUT I feel he likely gets overpaid a ton Still not comfortable trading prospects yet, I'll only become comfortable once this team starts competing...so maybe Deadline? Puig is interesting, not sure what his relationship is with Abreu, but if he can be had for fair value, I love it...Big time name for marketing FWIW Don't forget about the plethora of OF prospects in the system however, why I'm more comfortable on short term guys like if Puig can be had short term or, yes, even Avi for cheap Yup, if Adolfo isn't the answer (who knows), there's still Rutherford, Basabe, Walker, Gonzalez to try out...all of these guys should be ready at some point in 2020 or early 2021 latest Not the worst idea, EE should be had for cheap and obviously short term 2020: C- Grandal, McCann, Collins 1B- Abreu DH- EE Obviously I expect Grandal to DH some and Abreu to get rest at 1B in which Collins steps in...While I appreciate what McCann did last year, it screams fluke...oh, and he didn't hit too well post ASG...like night and day 2021: C- Grandal, Collins 1B- Vaughn DH- Abreu McCann leaves as a FA and the logjam becomes clearer and younger and more long term Collins finally gets a fair shake of ABs (there's really no such thing as a starting C anymore) -
I'd complain and yeah it sucks, but this still can become a dynasty based on their young core Abreu, Grandal...Robert, Moncada, Jimenez, Anderson, Vaughn, Madrigal, Collins Gio, Kopech, Cease,...Rodon, Lopez, Dunning, Stiever, Lambert, Thompson, Dalquist With money to burn AND the #11 overall draft pick Time to keep stocking the farm and start winning ball games
-
What a group this will be in '21 with Vaughn at 1B, Abreu at DH, and Grandal/Collins splitting time at C...not to mention Moncada, Jimenez, Anderson, Robert, Madrigal
-
Adam Jones makes a lot of sense to man CF until Robert is here and then be a supersub, cheap too and short term
-
Literally had the highest AVG of that trio last year...20 bombs consistently...Believe me, I've seen worse
-
Interesting because it seems the majority of this thread isn't fond of him...I'm a big fan myself
-
I'm not a proponent of moving any assets for anyone at this stage If you can steal nay of these guys in a fleece or near fleece you do it Mazara a FA in '22 and only 24...As this team takes shape, guys will become expendable (Collins? Sheets? OF prospects?) and as this team competes needs will become more clear If the money is right I'd rather sign Castelanos or Puig...and if they whiff, look into Avi as a stop gap for Adolfo/Rutherford/Basabe/Walker/Gonzalez
-
Any of the 3 greatly improve this ball club Haniger>Mazara>Benintendi
-
Bold and not sure I agree, although I am a fan of Collins...But with Grandal and Vaughn in the picture long term and likely Abreu...hard to see a role here If you can get someone of value under controlled with a package around Collins I'd do it (Benintendi, Haniger, Mazara)
-
Mehhhh long term and lotta change for an inconsistent injury risk like Wheeler
-
Cool to see...I think people forget about the plethora of options we got in the OF in the system (Adolfo, Rutherford, Basabe, Walker, Gonzalez) Perhaps a short term option in RF is our best bet in FA this winter
-
I've never watched a BP video and been unimpressed...until now
-
If the money is close to NYY or CLE or TOR he's going there
-
And people thought the return of Avi is a bad idea
-
Nearly forgot how crucial a defensive first baseman is
-
Will Madrigal be ready for 2020 opening day?

The better question if is Hahn and JR stop being penny pinchers and try and win out of the gate -
Not sure why this was laughed at...fully support that...very little negative in that All for Haniger if he can be had for cheap, but hardest of hard passes on Corey Dickerson
-
Loved him asa draft prospect, always thought he'd be more than an "opener"
-
Have always thought the same, this team can start worrying about who hits from what side once this team starts...hitting
-
or $400M

Jimenez doesn’t want to DH until mid 30’s
ChiSoxJon replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Obviously these comments are light and meant to be positive, but I'd so much rather hear a player say he'll "Do what's best for the team" -
For the right price I'd be interested in a handful of these names (Mazara, Haniger, Frazier, Nimmo)

Rendon is a phenomenal player, but tough to see him here for both money and attraction, frankly I'm fine with Moncada at 3B long term and anxious to see Madrigal up, no they're not at Rendon level yet, but let's see what we have Regardless, this is the type of offseason Sox ans should not expect and frankly don't want Abreu will be back and Grandal would be a great add, but both Bumgarner's and Keuchel's best days are behind them..and last off season proved CWS won't pay what it takes for a big name bat I'd be interested in Puig, I saw one deal saying we'd get him for 3/30 and I think that's more than fine Not sure what the relationship is between him and 79 is nowadays however, had issues in Cuba regarding his work ethic and attitude I believe
