QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 11:06 AM) I have a theory that if his name wasn't "Beer" we wouldn't even be talking about taking him that early. Maybe But for me I'm hooked on his 2016 stats and highlights 2018 ain't that shabby either Batting Statistics Year Team POS AVG OBP SLG OPS GP AB R H 2B 3b HR RBI HP BB SO SB CS 2016 .369 .535 .700 1.235 62 203 57 75 13 0 18 70 15 62 27 1 0 2017 .298 .478 .606 1.084 63 218 51 65 17 1 16 53 14 64 35 2 1 2018 CLEM .284 .441 .632 1.073 28 95 27 27 3 0 10 24 4 25 13 1

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 11:36 AM) Get on the Blaze Jordan (MS) bandwagon...the next Bob Horner/Dave Kingman/Pete Incaviglia/Rob Deer, haha. Actually very intrigued by this kid, have to watch more of him Seems to be more a slugger and less of a 5 tooler than Harper

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 11:32 AM) BA was the high group on Singer for a while so it's notable to see that correction. I don't know about our pick of McClanahan. I love the stuff, I think he'd bein majors soon. I don't know that the sox would take a TJ guy. I still think sox may cut a deal with Turang and really play deep in this draft. I'm thinking this more and more as well Hahn wants a HS IF (not necessarily Turang) and to keep the system deep and maintain it consistently as a Top 10 farm Both a HSer in the first and deeper steals with the remaining cash with massive potential would ensure this Makes plenty of sense to me, much more than taking yet another arm Keep an eye on Turang, Gorman, and De Sedas at 4

QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 09:22 PM) With the bat that Beer has he will go top 10.. I wouldn't even hate it if the Sox reached and took him at 4. He's that good of a hitter. He won't last past 10 despite his defensive... shortcomings? honestly wouldn't complain either

QUOTE (Quin @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 07:44 PM) Following this thread, it's kinda funny how at any point Beer, Turang and Singer were all #1s that we salivated over. Baseball scouting is insane. Only two draft prospects I remember going 1 a year ahead of time were Strasburg and Harper, maybe Appel

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 01:42 PM) At the time we moved him, Clippard was by far the most reliable player in the bullpen. On s*** team in a s*** 'pen as a FA at the end of the year coming off a MISERABLE stint in NYY

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 01:42 PM) When I saw him take his ABs during spring I couldn't believe how skinny he was. I know he's still young but he looked like a 16-18 year old HS player. One with a good frame sure, but very thin. He needs to hit the weight room. Couldn't agree with you more Saw him with Kanny almost immediately after the trade Looks like an average Joe
-
QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 01:41 PM) This is likely irrelevant, as he isn't going to go #4, but Beer has homered in each of his last 4 games. He now has 10 and his average is up to .284. He also has walked 25 times, in 95 at bats, so his OBP and Slugging Percentage are very good. Where do you think he'll be drafted? Mid-late first round steal
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 12:22 PM) I mean, the bullpen recovered, but when they sold off Clippard for cash I thought they would lose every game in the 8th/9th innings. That was definitely a tanking-esque "we don't care anymore moment". That was more of a "Tyler Clippard sucks, if someone wants him, take him" move
-
Fantastic article BUT it's not tanking... It's rebuilding correctly which this organization has never done before

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 12:54 PM) He Micker and Robert seem to be injured often. Really rough Spring injury-wise

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 01:13 PM) Never heard of this but don't think I can route for anyone pulling an Elisha Manning This reminded me of how current Sox farmhand/future backend starter/former NYY first rounder Ian Clrakin was a loyal LAD fan and hated NYY http://www.espn.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/i...ew-york-yankees It was then I became a fan
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 08:48 AM) Didn't the same think happen with Rutherford/Yankees in 2016? "Don't draft me, I want to play for NYY" Several teams passed on him that very well might have taken him. Never heard of this but don't think I can route for anyone pulling an Elisha Manning

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 11:28 AM) Charleston had good numbers, wow Wonder why Hayes hasn't announced

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 11:42 PM) https://minorleaguerosters.wordpress.com Stumbled upon this while Soxtalk was down. I don't know where they get their info, but it's spot on every time. Wow, never heard of this but there's some other interesting releases if true: Lowry, Charleston, Schnurbusch

QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 10:14 PM) Kahnle and Drob are not off to good starts. 6ER in 4IP. It's still early but that doesn't surprise me It's okay, I just hope we get a MLer outta it Rutherford isn't projecting too well, Clarkin hopefully can be a backend guy one day and hopefully Polo can be a 4thOF

QUOTE (buntforahit @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 10:24 AM) Will there be a "loaded up" MILB team this year? Seems like last season's Kanny squad may have been! WS perhaps?? Seems like Birmingham's will be with Jimenez, Collins, Hansen, Zavala, Adams (who I still can't believe isn't even 22 yet), Clarkin, Guerrero, Stephens, Puckett there early and likely Cease, Dunning, Basabe, and Call later on, maybe even Robert, Adolfo, and Sheets eventually
-
Avilan and Jones seem like they'll be here when this team is ready to contend which I'm all for As said before, can't win with ALL rookies Same goes for Avi and Abreu This team doesn't have many guys I'd ship and the need for prospects really isn't too major That being said I'm entirely open to shipping Farquhar, Shields, and Soria most realistically for low level prospects Saladino and Smith both seem like guys who's days can be numbered as well
-
QUOTE (onedude @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 01:19 AM) Gotta have that veteran leadership, Abreu and Avi fit that. Hell, Konerko was 29 when we won it all, Dye was 31. Abreu would be 33, and Avi 28. Unless we get a crazy deal on either of them, I'm fine with keeping them...Their production works for the team. Couldn't agree more Not sure why so many people are so eager to ship these guys

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 08:46 AM) The Sox two best hitting prospects are likely corner OF (Robert could play CF as of now I guess). Moving Avi might make some sense as the Sox should have depth there. Don't see much in the 1B pipeline though (I would think that Davidson might learn the position). No objection to extending Abreu, unless they see signs of decline. Don't see any reason to sign veterans for the sake of veteran leadership; get them to plug holes or shore up the pitching, based on talent need. As of now, 40% of the 25 man consists of veterans anyway. As major as prospects as Robert and Jimenez are I'm not one to bank on prospects, I'm all for keeping Avi regardless

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 07:33 AM) Add Burdi as closer and a few other interesting relief prospects and the makings are there for a dynamite staff. If it all works out, it will allow us to splurge on the positional side in free agency which is a much sounder approach than buying pitching. Just got hope these can keep developing and make this dream a realization. Too add to a lineup with Moncada, Robert, Abreu, and Jiminez (not to mention Anderson, Avi, Davidson, Collins)

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 11:16 PM) Danny Hayes was released from Charlotte. Makes sense given his age and the logjam of bats that need playing time there. Where did you see this? Can't find it Really nice guy, met his father when he was with KAN

QUOTE (beautox @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 11:35 PM) sox have the 6th highest pool a $10,589,900 pick at 4, 46, 81, 108 and 138 etc Can't wait to see the Prospect rankings going into '19 with this ammo Doubt Jimenez, Kopech, or Robert graduate and should all be Top 10 prospects league-wide 2019 Prospect List should look like: 1. Jimenez...Top bat in baseball, in Opening day 2019 roster discussion 2. Robert...Top 10 prospect in baseball, in Opening day 2019 roster discussion 3. Kopech...One of the best arms in baseball, in Opening day 2019 roster discussion 4. 2018 first rounder 5. Hansen...Ace potential, in Opening day 2019 roster discussion 6. Cease...Takes major leap, should be up at some point in 2019 7. Dunning...Continues dominance, should be up at some point in 2019 8. Collins...Continues to improve, up at some point in '19 9. Basabe...Have a feeling he rounds out the Top 100 a year from now after a monster '18, probably has a 2020 ETA 10. Adolfo...Hits very well in '18 and is borderline Top 100 This doesn't mention Rutherford who I'm not big on for '18 and Burger who was projected to have a big '18 before the injury nor the 2018 second rounder, Sheets, Burdi, etc. Jesus Looks like 6 Top 30 guys, and 9 Top 100 guys a year from now
