  1. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) Gooch was one of my favorite players on the `05 team. He was constantly hitting weak ground balls to the right side of the infield to advance a baserunner from Second to Third. For that reason, Ozzie thought he was that team's MVP. I'd love to see him coaching here, but I'm sure there's a language issue. Pretty sure he's fluent in English That '05 team had so much character, Ozzie/Iguchi/Harris remain in coaching world while AJ and Blum are analysts
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 08:03 PM) Why would Alolfo spend another season in Kannapolis? He'll most certaintly get moved up to A+ to start 2018. Here's how I see the OFs shaking out to start the year, although I think there will be a lot of early promotions. Birmingham LF - Fisher CF - Polo RF - Jimenez 4th - Hawkins Winston-Salem LF - Rutherford CF - Basabe RF - Adolfo 4th - Call Kannapolis LF - Gonzalez CF - Robert RF - Dedelow 4th - Mercedes I'd prefer to see Polo at Charlotte, Fisher in WS, and Rutherford in KAN
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) I would love to see Luis Robert play at Great Falls in the Pioneer League Doubt he ever plays there, if he does well in Spring he'll likely go to W/S and if not he'll go to KAN Despite his age and lack of playing experience in the States he can be a very fast riser It isn't unrealistic to expect him as the OD CF in '19 between Avi and Eloy
  4. Sounded like Hahn will start to discuss extensions in the middle of '18, with obviously only interest to extend Abreu and Garcia Abreu is the leader of this team and can still hopefully produce 2-4 more high level years, with him being a UFA in '20 there is 0 need to extend him now Garcia, just 26, still has to repeat success to show '17 wasn't a fluke, but I'd be thrilled with him as the long term RFer if he can prove that Next year's OD lineup of SS Anderson, 2B Moncada, 1B Abreu, RF Garcia, LF Delmonico, DH Davidson, 3B Sanchez, C Smith, and CF Leury looks like they can surprise a lot of people, especially in a weaker division...Not to mention the probable call-ups of LF Jimenez and C Collins next year along with CF Robert, 3B/1B Burger in '19 Next year's success in the W column really relies on pitching, which is off to a bad start with Rodon likely missing a month or so, but the rotation starting off '18 should feature Giolito, Fulmer, Lopez, and Shields (along with a cheap vet FA) with Rodon coming back in May and Kopech up in the summer 19's rotation should be Kopech, Rodon, Giolito, Lopez, and Hansen thus setting up '19 to be a major year and start of dominance for the ChiTown Sox
  5. QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 09:09 PM) Pathetic showing. Really disappointed in Rutherford this season Again, I was proudly and am proudly not too of of his chances of making The Show Good idea by Hahn packaging assets but bad return
  6. Actually hope Hahn continues to stay away Not big on this kid
  7. Former White Sox farmhand RF Jose Martinez had a hell of a year for STL, injury plagued with CWS https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/martijo08.shtml
  8. QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 03:57 PM) The Cubs drafted Schwarber 4th overall knowing he probably couldn't catch and without any defensive position. He was considered a major reach at the time as well I believe
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 07:00 AM) Sheets finishes the season on a 10 game hitting streak. Absolutely awesome to see, on to playoffs for KAN
  10. Former Sox farmhand Mike Marjama made his debut last night for SEA
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 4, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) I think Clarkin was a fantastic get. Before his injury, he was a damn good prospect and the Yanks were very high on him. Clarkin still has a good pitching repertoire so if the Sox can get his health back on track, he's one to keep an eye on for sure. I second your nomination of Polo as the fourth outfielder. Have read some good stuff about Polo and Yanks fans liked him alot. Plus, I admit, I just love the name Tito Polo. Tito Polo!!! Still think D-Rob alone was worth a Top 100 prospect, Frazier netting 2 top 12-15 org. prospects, and Kahnle nets a small package as well...Combine that and the return is better than Rutherford...Yanks had much more talented prospects to offer as well
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 4, 2017 -> 01:37 AM) Yes it is confusing so far but I have to trust the Sox see something there. I mean the Sox obviously have access to the same numbers that us internet GMs have. There must be a reason they sought him other than good draft pedigree. And mercy, it looks like they hit on every pitcher they traded for. The guy is a '16 first rounder and a top 30 prospect in baseball (at the time of the trade) so that likely sold them. Also KW was big on him prior to the draft. His numbers are just very disappointing.
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 11:38 PM) Crazy that not too long ago our righty to lefty SP ratio was the exact inverse of that prospective rotation. I've said that before on here and say it all the time, pretty funny From Sale, Q, Good Santiago, and Rodon to Kopech, Gio, Hansen, Lopez, Dunning, Cease, etc.
  14. Awesome One of the few on this forum who still had faith in him Kopech-Rodon-Giolito-Lopez-Hansen looks better by the second
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 09:08 PM) Kanny has some strange offensive slumps. Rutherford just doesn't do anything offensively. He needs major work this offseason or he's going to quickly fall off the radar Agreed, least exciting headlining acquisition of Hahn's for me Still think CWS should have got more in that deal Clarkin I still think will be an MLB starter (if healthy) and Polo a solid 4th OFer
  16. Alex Call batting .324 over his last 10, hopefully stays healthy and keeps this up in '18 starting in WS and ending in BIR
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) KLaw recently said Singer has huge reliever risk Give me a college hitter (Beer) over a HS arm any day of the week
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 2, 2017 -> 09:33 AM) Reyes and Guerrero were right there with Nunez and Alfaro in signing bonus. Obviously too early to tell on them but it seems they both have pop I didn't even realize (and forgot) because I was using MLB.com's top INTL prospects list
  19. Why not both? The need for pitching is endless and this system is still light on bats CWS's 2017 Draft class seemed hitter and reliever friendly which I don't mind at all, I have faith in a lot of the draftees
  20. QUOTE (GermanSock @ Sep 2, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) I don't think the return is that good but then again there wasn't really a market for Gonzalez. At least the guy has physical tools evidenced by his second round selection even though he has not hit in pro ball. Still I don't expect him to make the majors, his k to bb rate is really bad and while he has some raw pop it hasn't translated to game power. Problem is is that he hits too many grounders (50%), he needs to elevate more to maybe become a poor mans roughned odor. I also have my doubts but what's a month of MiGo really worth? Worth taking a shot on a toolsy project, can't fleece every team like Hahn did for Jennings or Swarzak
  21. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 2, 2017 -> 01:58 AM) Start looking at Fulmer as a reliever Giolito and Lopez have flashed enough that we likely won't need him in the rotation with Kopech, Hansen, Stephens, Dunning, and others on the way. Firm believer Giolito and Lopez will be quality MLB starters (Giolito I think may even be better). Yes the depth is in the system with Kopech (elite ace potetial), Hansen (ace potential), Stephens (back end guy), and Dunning but you can never need enough pitching, look at NYM with Syndergaard, Harvey, DeGrom, Matz and more (Fulmer, Lugo, Gsellman, Montero, Ynoa) Pitching isn't always a lock My ideal 2019 rotation remains Kopech-Rodon-Giolito-Lopez-Hansen with a pen featuring Burdi, Fulmer, Danish, Guerrero, Fry
  22. Would like to see Fulmer make a couple starts this September but I do think he can (and will) be a helluva reliever in Chicago starting in '18 Biggest weakness is his control issues and hopefully he can get his velocity up again, was hitting 97+ at Vandy (I thought he was the best NCAA (and overall) P available in '15 and was absolutely siked when we got him)
  23. Looks like Sox will have the 3rd overall pick at this rate Good enough for one of Turang, Singer, Rocker (next year's "big 3") or Beer (whom with a strong junior year should be the top NCAA bat available) I want the Sox to take a BPA approach (as seen with Rodon and Fulmer in '14 and '15) but am rooting for us to take an improved Beer While his defense is still suspect, a bat returning to freshman year form would be a major get for CWS and likely more safe than a HS prospect (Turang or Rocker) and addresses a system need unlike Singer This would have been a good year for a comp pick
  24. Pretty funny how Paddy's a step up from the previous schmuck...A strong International influx is important, especially in today's game Robert was a huge get for CWS as was Adolfo (underachieving) but they need to hit on smaller signings (whiffed on just about everyone else from Martinez to Cruz to Mota to Rodriguez) Sox top 5 INTL signings under Paddy have been Robert, Adolfo (who I notice was ranked ahead of Devers and Torres), Tatis Jr. (Sickening), Nunez (whiff), and Alfaro (likely whiff) Fun Fact: The top 8 prospects in baseball were International signings (Moncada, Rosario, Torres, Devers, Robles, Vlad, Jimenez, Acuna) Of those 8, yes, 6, signed for big money but Robles signed for just 200K and Acuna for 100K (#52 prospect RHP Sixto Sanchez signed for just $35K(!!!!) Hopefully Robert finds himself that high this time next year
  25. Can not wait for Kopech in Chicago, wow
