  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 09:07 PM) Jimenez out both games....he punch a wall also? Loved Adolfo since before we even signed him but that (in a year where he's an All Star, in playoffs, finally healthy, and being successful) is pathetic and idiotic, Quentin-esque
  2. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 08:01 PM) Guerrero was striking out everyone in the first half but the Ks have disappeared in the 2nd half. Likely a future set up man
  3. I was at KAN's game tonight for my last time until 2018, very few positive takeaways but: - Martinez looked solid - Jake Elliot pitched real well - Rutherford (who I'm not very big on and will likely see in KAN next year) didn't do anything - Adolfo appears to have left the team, likely in Arizona or home
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 11:07 AM) I'd sign some players who we think we can spin at the deadline. We don't have enough arms in the minors ready to sit in bullpen roles. Not to mention, I just don't think it is good for a team's morale to go into the season with hot garbage everywhere. You want to close out the games you are leading (even if there aren't a lot of them) and you can spin those players for assets. Find a vet closer on a 1yr deal or take a flyer on a few guys. Not many openings (I only see a starter spot open) but I agree, keep adding prospects while we're not winning
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 11:48 AM) Shields I imagine being on a short leash and cut as soon as someone else is ready for a promotion. Especially if they see no way he can be traded. Makes sense although I don't mind his as a mentor
  6. Excited to see him in KAN next year
  7. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 12:59 AM) Yurchak 2-2 with a 2b and 3 bb's... Hot damn Excited to see him with KAN next year along with C Skoug, C Hickman, DH Villa, SS Curbelo, OF Frost, OF Dedelow, 1B Zangari, 2B Rivera, LF Gonzalez, and CF Rutherford, team should be interesting Not sure who'll be there pitching there
  8. QUOTE (Sockin @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) Sox players going: Pitchers: Dylan Covey, Jace Fry, Matt Foster, Connor Walsh Catchers: Seby Zavala Infielders: Danny Mendick Outfielders: Tito Polo http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/afl/club.jsp?team_id=454 Would have preferred Covey (starter potential/likely reliever), Fry (future LOOGY), Stephens (back end starter potential), and Clarkin (back end starter potential) with Zavala with Cordell, and Call This isn't a bad group though as all are interesting Polo seems very interesting (future 4th OFer) Would have liked to see Jack Charleston or Mike Morrison as well, maybe even Remillard
  9. Hopefully Zavala does well and really gains atention, would be a huge development for CWS...need more breakout guys with no International spending and hopefully a major FA get next season
  10. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 04:26 PM) Surprised no Alex Call. He was the one guy I wanted to see in AFL...seems like his rib injury set him back, could have been in BIR by now, hopefully ends next year there
  11. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 03:36 PM) Surprised no Stephens or Cordell As am I...rather see them over Foster and Mendick
  12. QUOTE (Sockin @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) Sox players going: Pitchers: Dylan Covey, Jace Fry, Matt Foster, Connor Walsh Catchers: Seby Zavala Infielders: Danny Mendick Outfielders: Tito Polo http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/afl/club.jsp?team_id=454 Covey, Fry, Walsh, and Polo all may see the Show next year Covey may be in the rotation until Kopech is up midseason...Rodon-Shields-Lopez-Giolito-Covey/Kopech
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 08:25 PM) That would mean Anderson was a complete failure, which is not good for this franchise. Mendick is Scottish for Tyler Saladino. That's likely his ceiling, seems like a defensive SS
  14. Firm believer Rutherford starts '18 in KAN (with Frost and Gonzalez), hopefully he makes major improvements and can join Adolfo in WS
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) Michael Kopech will not break camp with the White Sox in 2018. No chance. I do think we see him pretty quickly though. Agreed. A midseason call-up seems probable (June-July). Maybe Shields hits the DL or the cheap vet starter we sign sucks.
  16. CF Leury 2B Moncada RF Avi 1B Abreu LF Delmonico DH Davidson SS Anderson C Smith 3B Sanchez P Rodon Rotation: Shields, Lopez, Giolito, VET FA Bench: C Narvaez, 1B/3B/SS/LF/RF Cordell, INF Saladino, OF Willy Garcia Next Guys Up: 2B/3B/LF Peter, Utility Hanson, P Fulmer, OF Liriano, P Danish 'Pen: Jones, Petricka, Putnam, Bummer, Minaya, Purke, Clarke
  17. Peter has a good shot to be on the SouthSide by OD, likely as a utility as he is blocked by Moncada and Davidson/Delmonico/Sanchez Fry may be a loogy by mid-season next year
  18. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 06:06 PM) Fulmer is likely a bullpen guy, in the majors, but don't move him there until you have to. No point in minor league bullpen work. Let him start. Agreed 100%
  19. Odd you say this about Hawkins as he's hitting .294 in is last 10, I think Hawkins will definitely be back next year for his last chance, Barnum too
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) I'd love to see the Sox sign Rodon before he consistently performs to his ability as well, but it ain't happening in all likelihood. It is good to see SoxTalk respecting what Rodon is. Sox Twitter never has given Rodon the benefit of the doubt he deserves. He has nearly thrown twice as many innings this year than he ever did in the minors before his initial call up. Absolutely ridiculous what the Sox expected from him in 2015. Of course, Boras Corp doesn't do those deals in most cases, but Rodon's fiancee has been blabbing to Sox fans in a Twitter group how they love Chicago but they will see "when we hit free agency." Even so, Sox have him for four more years after this. I think he's the most important player in the organization to the rebuild not named Moncada/Kopech/Jimenez. I can agree with that Hopefully Rodon sticks around and remains healthy
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) Dane Dunning doesn't project as a top of the rotation guy #2 or #3 starter IMO on a lesser team
  22. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) I think there is a way to extend even with Boras. I just don't think they'll be able to get the kind of crazy bargain deal, something more along the lines of what Rodon would get if he hit the open market right now. I don't know what that deal would look like though. I still wouldn't want to for another year, if Avi produces like this again I'd talk extensions mid season '18
  23. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:45 PM) I don't think our 2018 second rounder will be above our 2017 first rounder... I'm a big fan of Burger, and I don't think our next year second rounder will be listed above him. I am as well and I didn't, put them equal to emphasize the value of the top pick or two of the second round
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) I really wish we could convince Rodon to sign an extension. Having a #1/#2 punch of Kopech/Rodon for the foreseeable future would be awesome. Would also be nice to have guys like Lopez, Giolito, Hansen, Dunning, etc. slot in the #3 to #5 spots where they could all provide elite production. I agree but highly unlikely with Boras as his agent. I would wait another year as well with his health. Hopefully JR and Hahn pay him with this empty payroll
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:00 PM) Quality starter? How about an Ace? http://www.dailyherald.com/article/2017082...orts/170829796/ Definitely think Rodon can be an Ace and will have to be next year, he's been unbelievable as of late, just think Kopech will be even better
