  1. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) Would definitely be interested in Matusz as a potential bullpen guy. I think Hultzen is probably done, going the route of John Danks. Just read he's leaning towards retirement, what a shame, I personally favored him to Cole and Bauer in 2011 http://www.seattlepi.com/sports/baseball/a...ers-8412978.php Injuries suck
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) What about lesser guys that are MLB free agents that will likely land MiLB deals? Matusz falls in that category, Al Albuquerque, Emmanuel Burriss, Eric Campbell, Hank Conger, Ramon Flores, Dillon Gee, Jim Henderson, T.J. House, Ryan Kalish, Will Middlebrooks, Daniel Nava, Michael Roth all have my interest in that category
  3. MiLb FAs that intrigue me: C Willians Austidillo, RHP Roman Mendez, RHP Euclides Leyer, OF Kelly Dugan, LHP Brian Matusz, OF Slade Heathcott, 2B Sean Coyle, SS Cito Culver, OF Cesar Puello, LHP Rinku Singh, OF Stetson Allie, OF Mike Baxter, LHP Victor Payano, C Kellin Deglan, LHP Danny Hultzen, RHP Anthony Carter, RHP Neal Cotts
  4. Good chance it's another Top 100 Prospect immediately
  5. If everything goes well I'll assume Hansen finishes the year out in GF, attends fall instructs, and starts the year in W-S. He may be on the South Side by late 2018/2019 realistically...And if Sale/Q stick around: Sale, Q, Rodon, Fulmer, and Hansen make for a VERY nasty rotation
  6. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) Ramos will almost certainly have a QO attached We'll hopefully have a top 10 pick that's protected
  7. Somehow I feel Yasiel Puig winds up on the South Side this winter for better of for worse Personally hope JR pays the other Cuban OF, Cespedes, this winter along with Wilson Ramos and maybe Justin Morneau
  8. Any interest in Brian McCann? I'd prefer paying Wilson Ramos this fall personally
  9. Most hated baseball player for good reason, none of his numbers should count, Yanks should have been docked a fine and draft picks if this was like the NFL
  10. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) Burdi has been absolutely on fire lately. 1.80 ERA over his last 15 IP w/ 5 BB and 22 K. I'd like to see him up in September, Robertson should have been dealt when his value was up, this is a weak FA class n everything except closers, way to go Kenny and Rick
  11. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 02:24 AM) Boston is going to be in big on Encarnacion. He's probably their #1 FA target with Ortiz retiring. I don't see us getting Encarnacion. I think the best we can hope for is two of the following: Cespedes, Trumbo, Reddick, Desmond, Ramos, Wieters. It wouldn't be like the front office at all to sign two expensive FA's though. I'd be ok rolling with Morneau, Cespedes, and Ramos. Me too, but the question is if JR spend and who the manager is, Robin Ventura's managerial career should be read it's last rites
  12. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...lb&sid=milb But at least we have Tommy Kahnle...
  13. I still wouldn't rule them out for MG, Fernandez, Conley, and Cashner isn't really an eye popping rotation
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) May as well trade Q and Sale at that point, as the 2017 is going to be horrible and none of the guys you are acquiring are going to move the needle much at all in 2017, if ever. Frees up money from JR's payroll to go after Cespedes/Bautista in FA or add a guy like Ian Desmond (All guys who can be proven All-Stars in the AL) along with getting younger, and I disagree, I think lots of those prospects will make an impact, some immediate and some large
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) Was going to say the same thing. IF they decided to compete next year and held onto Frazier, you'd have to go: Eaton RF/CF Anderson SS Cabrera LF (if not traded) Abreu 1B Outfield bat for RF or CF (Reddick?) Frazier 3B Morneau DH (try to re-sign to a 1 year deal?) Lawrie 2B (if they keep him) Catcher spot Can't compete with virtually the same lineup, this retooling begins with a new staff (Ozzie, AJ, Willie Harris, Cooper?) and hopefully some young imported talent from this deadline
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:30 AM) Only domestic UDFA I can remember making it for the White Sox in recent memory is Ehren Wassermann (who was signed via an open tryout, believe it or not). Mike Recchia got pretty close. Figured Wassermann was drafted, really must be hard to make it as a UDFA in the MLB
  17. RHP Miguel Gonzalez to MIA for RHPs Austin Brice (MIA #11 prospect) and Cody Poteet (MIA's #17 prospect) RHP James Shields and cash to CHC for RHP Duane Underwood (CHC #7 Prospect) and OF Eddy Martinez (CHC #14 prospect) LHP Zach Duke to TEX for RHP Luke Jackson (TEX #20 prospect) and LHP Andrew Faulkner (TEX #22 prospect) RHP David Robertson to WSH for RHP Erick Fedde (MLB #92 prospect), 3B Drew Ward (WSH #12 prospect), C Pedro Severino (WSH #16 prospect), and OF Brian Goodwin RHP Matt Albers to BOS for RHP Pat Light (BOS #14 prospect) 3B Todd Frazier to NYM for OF Brandon Nimmo (NYM #5 prospect), 2B Dilson Herrera, and C Kevin Plawecki OF Melky Cabrera to SF for RHP Tyler Beede (SF #3 prospect)
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) Well for the record, not every writer had Collins number 1 - in fact Collins had just barely more top votes. So it was a close call. MLB.com's list is primarily led by Jim Callis, who is unabashedly a huge Fulmer fan. I think the questions around Fulmer are about command (which he may never had oodles of) and whether or not he is a starter long-term (I think he is, but some others don't). That latter question, about starting, is huge. May be wise to demote him to Charlotte for 1-2 starts and then call him back up as a starter
  19. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) would you rather have Call or Coats? What's the downside with Danny Hayes? One of the few guys we have with decent plate discipline. Call has a higher ceiling but he's further away, Coats is likely a 4th OFer in the MLB
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:43 AM) Frazier isn't going to get a gargantuan contract (at least I don't think he is). He has power. His D is pretty bad, but the Sox could do better at rotating players around, especially in the DH spot. I might hang on to him and move him next year. Depending on how the rebuild goes and how he looks, perhaps even extend him. Can't take that .210 AVG in the 4 hole, aside from what I believe is solid D and elite power, best Sox 3B since Crede
  21. Plawecki, Nimmo, and Herrera would be a nice return and somewhat realistic in this market.
  22. I'd love to dump Frazier for a nice return but NYM is a bad trading partner for us. I'd love to get young pitching for Todd but NYM really has none to deal. Cecchini/Herrera and Nimmo have my interest. Nimmo could replace Melky when we deal him and Cecchini or Herrera can help solidify 2B for the long term with Lawrie either dealt in the offseason or moved to 3B (Not against an infield of Abreu, Herrera, Lawrie, Anderson).
  23. MLB.com has Collins behind Fulmer by a good margin, not siding with any ranking but curious as to why you have Fulmer behind Collins. The system looks stronger than recent memory so I'm very happy
  24. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 01:03 AM) Aaron McRee, 2016 UDFA: 44.1 IP with Great Falls, 37 strikeouts, 2 walks. Was just realizing there's no UDFAs in the MLB, all drafted or signed internationally, rooting for McRee to break that
