  1. QUOTE (staxx @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) That's what happens with a Fowler/Jackson signing, and a resurgence from Latos/LaRoche A Latos and LaRoche resurgence would sell me on this club
  2. Dream Early 2016 Mock: 1.10. Bobby Dalbec, 3B, Arizona C.28. Kyle Funkhouser, RHP, Louisville 2.49. Chris Okey, C, Clemson
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) I don't think they would do a full rebuild til at least summer of 2017 in my opinion. But if I had to guess who would get moved if things are bad this summer: maybe a couple relievers, one of the catchers (if they're producing), Danks if a team wants rotation depth for a couple months (looking at a team like the Dodgers or Cardinals if there are injuries to their rotations). If we're not contending in July, Danks and LaRoche are the first to go, LaRoche has been shopped aggressively but I am patient on him still, Danks has been shopped in the past and I do not want him here in '17, so either get value for him or let him walk in the Fall. I'm all for a '17 rotation of Sale-Fulmer-Q-Rodon-Johnson
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) this will be the 2nd yr of a 3yr plan. the real question should be, what would you do as a fan, if the sox does not add any more important pieces to fix this team, come ST??? I'm a Sox fan for life, for better or worse, just painful lately That being said I don't want to add any big money FAs now, no one worthy of a pick or money that's left
  5. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) Seems dumb. We already overhauled the roster the last few years. We're clearly on the upward climb. What's not to like? Mediocrity, rather be 100% rebuilding than stuck right around .500 year after year
  6. Sox have a lot of talent that can net a lot of return (Sale, Abreu, Frazier, Eaton, Quintana, Lawrie, Melky, Robertson) but are in MLB's toughest division with an under achieving cast year after year. If this doesn't change a fire sale should be in discussion as B/R pointed out, saying White Sox are next time to undergo full rebuild. If Sox do start rebuilding yet again this summer, who stays, who goes, and what is the return? Let's hope this isn't where we're headed.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 5m5 minutes ago Source: Cuban teen phenom Lazarito anticipates a decision by Feb. 10. Already negotiating with teams, while a few private workouts remain. Sox better be in on this after wiffing in FA this offseason
  8. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) I really think people are overrating the Tigers. Even with Upton I don't see them as much more than an 81-84 win team right now. Their pitching is hopefully their downfall because that lineup is loaded
  9. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) Jackson and Latos, for me. There's nothing left that I think is worth the Samardzija pick or the $. So, sign some low $ lottery tickets as backup for weak spots, and make those 3 top 50 picks count. Absolutely agree, those 3 picks must be kept at this point and while Jackson and Latos (I prefer Lincecum and his willingness to pitch in 'pen) don't solve anything, they add depth and Hahn can show he wasn't done, may as well go after the Cuban OFer Hernandez too, hit on those 3 picks and I'll be happy After losing out on Cespedes and not bringing back Ramirez and seeing how DET and KC both are, I don't see us being too competitive in 2016, 85 wins at very most Guess we'll have to wait for the arrivals of Anderson, Fulmer, and hopefully a new manager (Ozzie)
  10. QUOTE (KillahPriest @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) Yadiel Hernandez & Doug Fister. I'd love to get Hernandez and rack up some good Cuban prospects too, wouldn't sacrifice a pick for him just not sure if Hahn is in on him, should be after letting us down on Tanaka/Elite OF now
  11. I don't like the idea of sacrificing a pick for Desmond although I also hate Saladino in a starting role, really praying Anderson works out Cespedes was the guy I wanted bad and last elite OF available, can just hope Avi produces like he did in '13 and even '14 because I remain a big fan Also upset Alexei wasn't brought back, even in a lesser role, big miss by Hahn, could have mentored Anderson CarGo interests me as an OF option as does Andre Ethier but only for the right price, Anderson/Fulmer/Adams/Adolfo are all untouchable to me but I'd love to dump Sanchez or Saladino I also like Lincecum for cheap if he shows he's healthy
  12. Mets easily have the best, they have 3 guys who can be #1's plus Matz who may also very well be a ace or #2-#3 and Wheeler who was thought of as Harvey's #2 at one point and even an ace earlier I do like where the Sox are headed though, Sale/Q/Rodon is a filthy trio featuring the nastiest pitcher in the league, a criminally underrated #2, and Rodon who may develop into an ace. Danks is still solid on his best days, but hopefully Erik Johnson pans out like he was supposed to and Fulmer remains a top end starter. I think our Sox may have the best rotation in the MLB in 2017 with Sale/Fulmer/Q/Johnson/Rodon, now if only we had a franchise C to along with that Yes, Navarro and Avila behind the dish worries me that our pitching will slightly decline since Flowers called such a great game for Sale and his familiarity with the staff No, I don't think CWS are legitimate contenders in the toughest division in 2016 baseball with KC and DET as obvious favorites 2017 on the other hand has me excited with this rotation and Abreu, Lawrie, Frazier, Melky, and Eaton all under contract with Anderson coming up and hopefully Avi panning out

  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) If Alvarez does well at AA this year, what's the best-case scenario for him? Not really prospective at his age, maybe a midseason promotion to CHA
  15. QUOTE (staxx @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) I think Adams has a chance to make the jump to AA at some point judging by how well he did in his A+ stint last year. Absolutely, but his ETA is 2018 in my eyes
  16. Had no idea Lincecum was a FA, if he's gonna be back mid-season I think we owe him a look, CWS desperately needs a RHS, especially if Johnson doesn't pan out or god forbid an injury to a lefty, hopefully Fulmer will be ready to go in August/September
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:02 PM) Alexei isn't getting more than a 1 year deal or a 1 year deal with an option / buyout for year 2. Still want him back on the South Side, glad to see him wearing his Sox jersey in Cuba today
  18. Aside from a luxury OF pick-up (Cespedes, Gordon, Upton), I think CWS needs to brings Alexei back, something like 3 years 15 M (still a useful backup in future), he wants to reitre on the South Side and still offers a plus glove and range with veteran leadership and a decent bat at best, hopefully when he returns from Cuba he returns in 2014 form and with an offer from CWS, Saladino offers more as utility... On a side note, CWS really is depleting the system to compete now, I'd say CWS's only top 100 prospects now are Anderson (playoff addition in '16/starter in '17) and Fulmer (Middle rotation starter/closer potential), I'm fine with this though as the high draft pick and 3 in the top 50 will help replenish a competing team A depth chart of: C: Navarro, Avila 1B: Abreu, LaRoche 2B: Lawrie 3B:Frazier SS: Alexei, Saladino OF: Eaton, Cabrera, Cespedes, Garcia, Shuck Rotation: Sale, Quintana, Rodon, Johnson, Danks 'Pen: Robertson, Duke, Jones, Jennings, Putnam, Webb, Petricka, Kahnle Looks WS ready to me
  19. My Realistic Wishlist for this Offseason: 1) Let Shark walk in FA, receive compensation pick 2) Resign Alexei to a 2 year deal $12 million deal with a $3 million team option for '18 (Ramirez made it clear he wants to stay and retire on the South Side) 3) Go after Matt Weiters and lose out on him courtesy of ATL on a lucrative deal, settle on a 1 year deal with AJ Pierzynski worth $3.5 million with a $2 million dollar player option for '17 4) Sign Garrett Jones to MiLB deal, depth in case of Abreu injury, could have a Dan Johnson-type year with Charlotte 5) sign Dom Brown to a MiLB deal, depth in case of Melky/Avi injury, All-Star in '13 6) Hire Rick Renteria as bench coach, seems to be popular choice among fans, managerial experience 7) Sign Juan Uribe back as 3B depth, veteran clubhouse presence 8) Sign Shaun Marcum/Bronson Arroyo as a RHS, Shark is gone and a vet RHS is needed, should be cheap 9) Sign Neal Cotts as an extra reliever, solid statline 10) Hopefully this is the South Side's final year with a protected first rounder for a LONG time, could make a splash with Weiters or go safe route and bring in Howie Kendrick for 3 years/42 million, KW loves him 11) Deal Courtney Hawkins, Spencer Adams, Carlos Sanchez, Jacob May, and Chris Beck for Todd Frazier and lock him up for big money, hopefully our long term 3B 12) Trade Saladino for a promising young C (Plawecki or someone of lesser magnitude like Andrew Knapp) A '16 roster of: C: Pierzynski, Flowers 1B: Abreu 2B: Kendrick, Johnson 3B: Frazier, Uribe SS: Ramirez DH: LaRoche LF: Cabrera CF: Eaton RF: Garcia, Thompson Rotation: Sale, Rodon, Quintana, Danks, Montas 'Pen: Robertson, Duke, Jones, Jennings, Webb, Putnam, Petricka Looks promising
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) Ha! One would think. Not even funny, since Crede and Rowand, our biggest homegrown bats have been Josh Fields and Gordon Beckham
  21. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) If the #WhiteSox don't sign any free agents with a qualifying offer they'd have 3 picks in the top 50-55 players in the 2016 draft. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/662707171218612224 I'd be happy with 2 and Weiters
  22. Plawecki/Norris and Frazier are my top trade targets for CWS with Hawkins, Sanchez, Saladino, Erik Johnson, May, Nieto, Beck, and Coats all being available to deal (Montas, Fulmer, Rodon, Thompson untouchable). As much as I would love Weiters on the South Side, his price isn't right and ATL will almost surely lock him up. Flowers isn't the answer and the hopefully contending Sox have no answer on the farm. A young C like Plawecki or Norris would be the answer for CWS. I could see 2-3 (Erik Johnson, Engel, Sanchez) prospects getting these deals done. Todd Frazier is a pipe dream that CWS has virtually no shot with (I'd offer Adams, Michalczewski, Hawkins, Beck for). Danks and LaRoche both off books. My dream 2017 WS Champion CWS: C: Plawecki, AJ 1B: Abreu 2B: Johnson 3B: Frazier SS: Anderson, Ramirez (diminished role) OF: Eaton, Melky, Avi, Thompson Rotation: Sale, Montas, Quintana, Fulmer, Rodon Pen': Robertson, Duke, Jones, Webb, Putnam, Albers, Danish, Jennings Lineup: Eaton, Anderson, Melky, Abreu, Frazier, Avi, Thompson, Plawecki, Johnson
  23. Engel is easily the most impressive CWS prospect in the AFL, 5 SBs to go to an awesome offensive statline, Glendale's catcher Andrew Knapp is an interesting trade target for s, AA catcher with some pop and a solid bat, he's in the PHI organization jammed behind Alfaro now, should be available
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) Sox are so good at this. I still like to point at Tanner Mendonca in a similar fashion, as I've never seen a more dramatic turnaround. Check this out... 2013 Rk League (age 21) with MIN: 23.1 IP, 24 H, 22 ER, 37 BB, 23 K 2014 Rk League (age 22) with CHW: 21.1 IP, 16 H, 9 ER, 6 BB, 41 K I mean, look at the K/BB numbers. That's insane. He went back to GTF this June and was doing the same great stuff, but for some reason hasn't pitched since 6/30. Still on active roster. I'll have to send a note over there and see what's up. But regardless, that is a ridiculous turnaround. I really wonder what they see in these guys that they like or think they can fix, Tago wasn't the first and won't be the last...CWS might not be able to develop any sort of productive hitter but they always pop out quality arms
