QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 08:51 AM) Matt Cooper did it again. 11th save, 2.2 innings, no hits, 6 K's. Why are we thinking this is a fluke? He's obviously somewhat prospective at least

Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal
ChiSoxJon replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 06:49 AM) 3/45, don't like it or can get more, congrats. I was thinking 3/48 yesterday with an option, if not I'm perfect with a comp pick -
Don't really like any of the above, if I had to pick one I'd take Braun, him and Avi can split RF while the other DH's, Napoli is probably my favorite player of the above, but no need now...AJ Pierzynski, Junichi Tazawa, Koji Uehera, Martin Prado are all more fitting

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) Zangari is also having a pretty good year down in AZL Heating up his AVG which is good to see, hope he does well in instructs and maybe goes to Kanny in April

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) Yes he is! I made that point in the Hahn thread in reference to the value of a comp pick. I love how Adams pounds the strike zone. Wonder if the Sox will go after Wieters, seems easier if Shark leaves and we get a comp pick

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) Serious question. When was the last time that a guy who was a reliever already at a lower level made it to the majors and contributed for the White Sox? I mean we are talking about Addison Reed, Bobby Jenks, and who? Danny Webb too, there's a good amount actually
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) Considering how bad he was before, Peter Tago (now in AA) has been pretty damn good this season. Former high draft pick, statline is terrific

Several ChiSox prospects will be playing in the AFL this fall, who do we want to see? Rosters should be out in about a month and Kanny pitching coach Jose Baustista will be our affiliate's pitching coach I'd personally like to see RHP Montas (ETA:September), RHP Adams (ETA: 2018), Michalczewski (ETA:2017), Hawkins (ETA:2016), Barnum (ETA:2018), May (ETA:2016), and Austin (ETA:2018) Montas likely won't go due to MLB service this year, Adams I'd like to see against other top prospects, Michalczewski I'd like to see develop power, Hawkins I'd like to see have a good AFL and gain back high end prospect form, Barnum I feel is turning things around and can use extra time in Arizona, and Austin is a project-type C but has a great arm and a solid bat when hot

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 01:42 AM) Radio guys in this town know nothing about the White Sox system. I think White Sox are somewhere between like 16-23 as far as systems go. Has to be the most loaded it's been in forever, curious to see FutureSox's top 30 because MLB.com is a little off, i noticed our top 3 prospects are all flawed too Anderson with fielding, Fulmer with size and mechanics, and Montas may be a reliever, guess people can find negatives in everything
-
Saw Kanny live again, nothing too big but Almonte pitched very well, and Brito did too, fun team to watch, definitely need to shake up the roster a little bit
-
QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) Well, he's relatively new to catching after transitioning from the outfield so that may be why he's behind the curve a bit. It looks like he has some potential with the bat, so might as well see if he can stick behind the plate and he always has the outfield as a fallback plan. Understandable, hope he moves quickly through system
-
Love the new list, Anderson, Fulmer, and Montas are a great trio of top 100 prospects, best our system has been in ages, very deep

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) Cooper hit 93-95? Scout gun or stadium gun? Because I had him more 90-91, tocuhed 92, on scout guns in May. You also echo another report I got on Martinez, that his FB is legitimately now 93-94, T95, his command has improved dramatically, and the change is getting better. MiLB featured this game and said some similar things. Big leap for him. Stadium gun And yes Martinez looked, he was getting hit but nothing big, he was throwing hard in the 'pen before the game too, didn't even get to 100 pitches

QUOTE (wsiskel @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:10 AM) Had best raw power on Kanny team (in May) – big project at catcher, not competent at all. I'm a big fan, just wish he wasn't already 22, he should be in W-S by now with that age
-
Zach Fish, Tanner Banks, and Evin Einhardt were named Pioneer League All-Stars, all way too old for the level but Fish has some real impressive numbers, also youngest of that trio at 22
-
I saw Kanny live, very quick game as both starters (Luis Martinez for KAN) worked quick, saw Tommy Thompson and Brett Austin ejected too -Martinez has a tall mound presence and looks bigger than earlier this year, would hit 93-95 and had offspeed from 83-88 -Cooper would hit 93-95 but had off speed that varied from 78-88
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Anyone have a scouting report on Cooper stuff? Quick google search didn't yeild much info. If he pitches Monday or Tueday I'll see it in person and report it here
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 07:04 PM) Did I miss something? Why did Adams get promoted to Winston-Salem and is now back in Kanny? Should have left him with WS, saw him with Kanny last night and he was anything but sharp, I like his fastball (93,94) though while his offspeed hits (86-88), he also worked well in jams he caused, Peralta was also throwing a fastball that reached anywhere from 94-97 but was getting hit hard, never knew Peralta threw so hard, looks like his time as a starter is up The only noticeable defense I can report (again) is that Lechich has a cannon from RF, makes it look effortless like Matt Stafford Offensively they were quiet, but Austin had a nice homer that kept carrying (in a park that is very tough to hit it out)

I saw our Sox want 4 young pieces for Shark, this is unrealistic but how about Garcy Sanchez, Eric Jagielo, Dustin Fowler, and Ty Hensley from NYY? Franchise C, starting 3B, a TJ battled starter/former high drat pick, and lefty hitting OF in high A/29th ranked prospect
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) You would need a good back up since he hits the DL regularly. I'm all for it but with Boras, he may want more than he deserves right now. absolutely, Russell Martin netted 5/82 last year, but franchise Cs are tough to come by (been stuck with s*** since AJ left)

I know BAL may be selling him this deadline and I don't wanna pay the price for him in a trade, but our current .468 winning percentage is in a huge bunch up for draft picks 2-16, as PHI is far ahead in the race to last, but a top 10 pick is protected (like it was with Fulmer, Rodon) and could make a FA splash without giving up a high pick. Obviously this team is lacking, particularly a franchise C and a starting 3B. While hopefully Shark can net us a 3B this deadline (hopefully Jagielo with NYY), we'll still be lacking a franchise C. Matt Wieters, an upcoming FA, is our answer to this. Coming off TJ surgery, his numbers and usage are down but he's still a dominant switch hitting franchise C. BAL likely can't and won't resign him and may even shop him this week. I know Hahn/KW/JR don't like Boras clients but franchise catchers are tough to come by and Wieters is one of the best, if we have yet another top 10 draft pick, why not add a missing piece to the puzzle? Tyler Flowers is a whole lot more likable as a back-up

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) Trey's season as such a young player in that league is probably underrated. Good k rate, good walk rate, just have to hope he develops more power. Definitely has some pop, bet next year will be big for him
-
Shark, Danks, Soto, Bonofacio, should all be traded out this week
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 05:06 PM) Jon, I don't see what is so special about those two Yankee prospects, considering how valuable Shark should be to any contender. Just going by stats, of course. Sanchez should be a franchise catcher, got off to a rough start but is absolutely on fire right now, Jagielo is a former first rounder with 9 dingers and batting .284 in AA, I'd pull this trade in an instant, both long term starters for us
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) We have a guy in the minors who probably will be better than Jagielo. Trey Michaelczewski. And I hope you're right on that, love Trey, saw him play in person many times but Jagielo is more MLB-ready, big bat, not sure of him in the field
