  1. Saw Kanny drop a game today and will see them again tomorrow, took away some notes: - Eddy Alvarez is probably the fastest guy on the team - Mason Robbins was killing balls the other night and now homered to right, Fish went deep too but was poor behind the plate and on the base paths - Yelminson Peralta doesn't have too much special to him but he was fooling hitters early until one awful inning - Bruening was wild but had a good outing I'll be back tomorrow for the series finale, Lowry on the mound
  2. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) Jacob Morris was a position player last year. Another one of those guys trying to be the next Sergio Santos. Yeah I remember him in RF I believe last year and if I remember correctly he had some cannon throws but I never thought about him converting, especially after a relatively solid season
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) I'm so excited to see where Adams goes after his insane pro debut last year. I don't expect a 17 K/BB ratio or whatever it was, but if he can continue a 5+ K/BB, I'll be very pleased. I like Adams a lot too, his stats were amazing last year, and I like him even more now that I've seen him in person, but I looked at his stats more closely from last year after he gave up 7 hits in 4 innings last night, he gave up 49 hits in 41.1 innings, his K:BB ratio is impressive though last year, he's till one of my favorite prospects and can't wait to see more from him
  4. More notes from Kanny's second game: - Adams wasn't fantastic giving up 7 hits and walking one but he managed to get out of his own jams, fastball was around 90-93 and had offspeed pitches in the low to mid 80s, he's still extremely lanky as expected and could add some more muscle over time, really like his mentality on the mound even in A ball, shows some emotions (he's not even close to Jake Peavy, don't get any ideas) - Although last year I praised Stringer at 2B for his glove, he had a rough night there last night with 2 errors and another questionable play - Alavrez is really struggling at the plate but his bat speed and swing looks promising, even for a 25 year old in A ball, he's a fantastic aggressive fielder as well - Louie Lechich showed off his cannon arm from RF last night on a throw and out at the plate, was a big time throw, he looks pretty big and hopefully has some power - Mason Robbins had a real hard base hit last night and went 2-4, looked sluggish in LF though - Brett Austin had a great night at the plate with two monster triples and another hit, he allowed two passed balls last night but I think he was solid behind the plate, should be able to stay there for at least Kanny and maybe WS - Trexler really impressed me, his fastball hit 93,94 regularly and his offpseed pitches would dip to 74, that really made batters look silly, but just as I said, he is in the 'pen - Jacob Morris was pretty wild hitting two batters but managed to get out of his own jam - Kelvis Valerio didn't have any pitches that wowed me but he got out of his own jams every inning, struck out 3 too - Devon Davis was dominant in his appearance striking out 3, none of his pitches stood out to me but his delivery is wild and looks painful, can't believe he's naturally a lefty (apparently bats lefty too) Look forward to seeing Kanny in two more games this weekend
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) This is great info, thanks! Good to see Guerrero as high as 93, he worked some games last year barely hitting 90. He's got a very good change and a good curve, if he can add velocity and/or movement to the fastball he already commands pretty well, that is great. I'll gather more today, tomorrow, and Sunday And yes, he really impressed me, that one hit he gave up too in the 4th looked pretty foul to me (and Tommy Thompson too), so he really just gave up a double that was bloop fly ball (hard hit nonetheless) I really like how his velocity has such a range and his pickoff move was great too, hope he does well in Kanny, excited for Adams tonight
  6. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) Okay, I'll bite. Who is Plawecki? Mets top prospect, catcher, they have D'Arnuad in Queens so need for both, I could see them shopping Plawecki down the road, soon
  7. I saw Guerrero and Kanny live last night, tough to give an scouting reports since it was Day 1 in freezing weather and borderline snow, but was able to take a few things away: - Guerrero topped out at 93 but had some filthy change-ups (83,84) that he used to make batters look silly - Chris Curley was no Trey Michalchewski at 3B, Trey made some filthy plays at 3B last year while Curley looked lazy, weather may have factored in - Eddy Alvarez is tiny but his thighs are solid (as expected from an Olympic speed skater), he made some nice plays at SS last night and took some nice cuts - Toby Thomas looks like the smallest player on the team, built like a bat boy - Not that this means much as we'll find out shortly but Trexler was hanging with bullpen guys all night, doing jogs with them, he may stay in the 'pen I'll be seeing them all weekend for better "reports"
  8. QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) This has probably been addressed elsewhere, but when is Rodon starting? I thought they'd have him matched up in line with Danks or Noesi....Also is Danish in AA? Very excite for Adams. As am I, hope it doesn't get rained out, I'll bring you guys a scouting report
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) Delmonico is on AA roster. They just finalized their roster. Quick question, Matt Heidenreich, didn't we trade him to the Astros for Brett Myers? Not sure if we traded him for Myers but we did deal him, was once interesting but was released and we re-signed him Hope someone finds Silverio, great glove, above average bat
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) My biggest surprises who weren't assigned to a full season team (could be hurt, could be going to Rk, who knows): Ben Brewster Terance Marin Aaron Bummer Tanner Banks Peter Tago John Ziznewski Zach Thompson There are others too, but those stuck out. All but one are pitchers, they really seemed to just run out of room. Delmonico and Silverio stick out tome as well
  11. I'll be watching Kanny all weekend, pumped to see their pitching (Guerrero, Adams, Peralta, Lowry), I'd assume Trexler and Martinez round out their rotation, they should be competitive under Tommy Thompson this year with that staff and some interesting hitters Off topic, but where in the world is Juan Silverio? I know we signed him back over the winter
  12. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 01:16 AM) Don't know if anyone seen Fox Sports predictions. Nats over White Sox in World Series. Had us beating Blue Jays and Mariners on our way to the Series. Wish you had a link, everyone is staying too low on us, interestingly enough I have our Sox over WSH in the Series, didn't think about who we'll play but i think we win the division, so will Boston and LAA, WC might be DET and BAL
  13. QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) Hahn has tried to address the catching situation for two offseasons now. I think something like Sanchez, Danish/Montas/Adams, Beck/Fry + a live arm like Guerrero might get it done, while leaving the sox depth and some of their upper level talent. i wouldn't mind it either, just about anything is an upgrade on Flowers's offense
  14. - Abreu wins Batting title - Sale wins Cy - Danks gets traded in mid-June - Matt Davidson gets called up in June - Micah bats for .285 - Abreu hits 27 HRs, Avi for 22, LaRoche for 22, Melky for 15, Ramirez for 15 - Robertson winds up with 49 saves - Ventura appears less s***ty - We end the year with a deep post-season run and talks of a Sale-Shark-Q-Buehrle-Rodon rotation for '16 - Sox acquire Wieters at the deadline for Danish, Flowers, Anderson, and Beck -Sox win '16-'19 World Series
  15. Runs Scored/Runs Allowed (full season) +85 Record at the All-Star Break (88 games) 48-40 All-Stars Sale, Abreu, Robertson, Eaton Games started at 1B by Adam LaRoche 53 Games started total by Gordon Beckham 12 Total Team Homers 164 Carlos Rodon Debut Date and Role June 6, starter Will Matt Davidson play for the Sox this season? Yes or No. Yes Samardzija contract- Signed in season, traded in season, unresolved on October 4 Signed in season Will Micah Johnson play a minor league game this season? (rehab assignments don't count) Yes or No. No Will John Danks be on the Sox on August 1? Yes or No. No Name a player the Sox will trade for in-season. Matt Wieters
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 06:08 PM) Yes. Rather add a safe college arm
  17. Sox fans, if he's available at 8 (which I think he absolutely will be) this June do you take him? I know I wouldn't, but I'm just curious, I saw fans of deeper systems hoping he falls
  18. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) Right. If the Sox can get rid of Danks at some point he might be a decent option. You'd think that even if they can't retain Samardzija they'll dip into the top-end starter market, though. That might preclude a back-end signing. I'd love to see Mark back at home, to this day I regret paying Danks 5/65 and letting Mark leave for less, a Sale/Shark/Q/Buehrle/Rodon rotation sounds awfully nice in the future
  19. Sox obviously had a great off season for the MLB team but their depth moves and acquisitions of prospects need attention too, Penny, Albers, Crain, Soto, Kottaras, Onelki, Ynoa, most exciting offseason for Sox since the Rios, Quentin, Dunn, PK, AJ, Peavy, Buerhle, Sale disaster, still remember that explosive offense for the first week, and that was it
  20. Don't get wrong, huge fan of our offseason, I'd say we are the early offseason winners, and definitely our best offseason in YEARS, but: Things I love and praise Hahn for: - Grabbing LaRoche for so cheap - Giving up very minor prospects for Samardzija, a star - Grabbing a legitimate MLB (Jennings) arm for a potential prospect (Rienzo) Things I don't love but I'll get used to: - Paying Robertson so much, but I'll love this when he performs - Paying a cheater so much, but I'll like it when he performs - Paying Zach Duke 15 MIL, that's a joke What's left: - Sign Michael Roth - Sign Dustin McGowan - Trade Danks for prospects to replenish our system
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) Let's get grindy... right guys? MLB Transactionist ‏@MLBTransactions 10m10 minutes ago Chicago, IL OAKLAND ATHLETICS: Released infielder Nick Punto. http://j.mp/1zG3Nnc Grab him for the bench and Michael Roth for the 'pen and call it an offseason (Maybe deal Danks for prospects)
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 10:40 AM) You still need depth. If LaRoche goes down, he provides at least some sort of upside to the position. If LaRoche goes down, he's a DH, wouldn't want Andy Wilkins DHing for me in a trillion years
  23. I'd swap Wilkins for AAA bullpen man, no room for him here
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) He really doesn't hit lefties that well. I'm still all for adding him for piss cheap if we don't grab some significant bench players
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) I would love if they traded Viciedo and Danks and used that money for Bonifacio and a guy like Morrow/Beachy/Medlan I'm all for dumping Danks for a prospect bundle and signing Morrow
