  1. I agree with absolutely everything above...some more include giving up Hudson, Richard, Holmberg, Reed, and letting Buerhle walk for Keon Barnum ultimately , definitely a lot more regrets
  2. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 09:47 AM) I had high hopes for Jaye coming into the season but he's moving closer to becoming a non-prospect for me. I feel like he should either be sent down to WS until August-ish and then given another shot in Birmingham as a starter, and then if that doesn't work, have him put on some weight this offseason and move to 'pen for '15
  3. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 12:26 AM) I attended a Frontier League game tonight and Blair Walters started for the Joliet Slammers. Pitched into the 9th too, lost it on a walk off. Just saw that he was cut and not in MILB this year, wouldn't mind signing him, have some success in Indy leagues, even just as org. depth
  4. Well we can either sign prime TJS candidate Rodon and pray he stays healthy and can start by 2015 and pitch outta the 'pen this year or screw Rodon and sign MDO, get the no. 4 overall pick next year, and load up our system
  5. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 08:47 AM) There is no guarantee we get either of the two players and even with adding them (assuming we did) and Rodon and the rest of the 2014 Draft group, there is no way we break the top 20. I hope this is a joke, after Rodon we should already be top 15-20, then adding these guys and next year's picks and signings
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 05:58 PM) Adding Alfaro and Ynoa to the system would be awesome Real happy with the system direction, could be top 5-10 by July, 2015
  7. Can't believe we traded Juan Silverio for organizational depth...look at him now, great move KW/Hahn, kid will make it to the show and be successful before we know, while our return is outta baseball
  8. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) If we can sign de Oca great, but reading on him going into the second day, I really didn't want him at all & there were a bunch of other players out there I'd have rather had. My immediate thoughts were Joba Chamberlain best case, which really isn't anything super exciting even though quality SU guys are great to have. I'm not going to care much if we don't sign this guy but if we do, maybe he's at least trade bait. Just seems like a guy who has about 90% bust potential or better and even if it works out then he's just a reliever. But hey, if he'll take $500K or whatever we can muster up, go for it. Maybe he moves quick & hits the AA level sometime next season. Joba actually was something very special until the NYY organization and the NY setting ruined his career
  9. Last 10: Coats: .400 AVG, 10 Rs, 4 2Bs, 5 HRs, 13 RBIs, 6 Ks, 2 BBs Michalczewski: .412 AVG, 8 Rs, 5 2Bs, 1 3B, 3 HRs, 12 RBIs, 7 Ks, 3 BBs Coats should be moving up soon, definitely by July, and Trey should be in the Sally League ASG easily yet isn't
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) July 2 Think ChiSox will grab Huascar Ynoa and then I don't know from there
  11. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 03:32 PM) Tim Anderson's last 14 games: 3-5 2-5, 2B 2-4, 3B 3-5, HR 0-5, SF 4-5, 3B 1-5 2-4, 2B, BB 3-5, 2B, 2B 0-4 2-5, 2B 2-4, 2B 2-4 2-2, 2B, HR .451/.460/.726 This makes me think he's our best farm position player, then I see all the Es he racks up, lets home he can move to the OF
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:50 PM) I think Adams has higher potential than Danish without a doubt. We have no idea how these groundouts numbers will translate for Danish. Adams stuff is much more traditional and has a great frame to fill out. Yeah I agree, regardless of stuff I remember being shocked when we drafted Danish last year as he wasn't ranked anywhere in the Top 100 prospects. Then I saw how dominate he was in FL HS and how good he is now and became a big fan. Adams was a potential first rounder so I'll say he has a higher ceiling than Danish
  13. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:36 PM) Curious as to how you ranked Montes de Oca as the best changeup, from what I read he has a plus fastball, a curve that could be plus, and he has rarely used the change. Drops significantly down to 87, doesn't use it much but he does feature it, has great 11-5 curve too and powerful fastball, I really hope we can sign him but I doubt it, should be an interesting case
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) You probably might want to change best slider to Rodon Thanks for finding that mistake, haha, too much words and research
  15. Our '13 draft class had serious prospects by the names of Anderson, Danish, May, Engel, Mitchell, Michalczewski, and Goldberg at least at the days immediately following the draft. 2012 offered us serious prospects like Hawkins, Barnum, Beck, DeMichele, Brennan, Basto, Hansen, Johnson, Ayala, Coats, Guerrero, and Throne. In my early opinion, these are our 2014 serious draft prospects: A: 1. Rodon (ace potential, AS potential, fast mover) 2. Adams (future pro starter, 2/3 starter, similar to Danish potential, maybe even higher) 3. Fry (future pro starter, similar to Beck/Mitchell/Hansen potential, slightly less) 14. Montes De Oca (unlikely to sign but ace potential, slow mover) B: 4. Brett Austin (good working with pitchers, speed, good contact, may transition to OF, previously drafted 54 overall) 5. Zach Thompson (potential starter, big size, unused arm) 9. Brian Clark (closer stuff, good size) 10. Jake Jarvis (versatile and determined IF, highly sought after NCAA recruit however he'll sign) 11. Zach Fish (good speed and contact) Highest Potential: Rodon (All-Star ace) Biggest Steal: Montes De Oca (unlikely to sign), Jake Jarvis Power: Ryan Jones, Zach Fish Contact: Ryan Leonards, Jake Jarvis, Lechich Speed: John Ziznewski Baserunner: Ziznewski, Gross, Moore Glove: Jarvis Eyes: Austin Tools: Jarvis, Fish, Ziznewski Fastball: Rodon, Adams, Montes De Oca Change-up: Montes De Oca, Choplick Curve: Cooper Sinker: Montes De Oca Slider: Rodon Most interesting delivery: Brewster (wanna see video, sounds insane) Earliest ETA: Rodon (14 in Pen, 15 in rotation) Biggest Project: Montes De Oca My Favorite Pick: Rodon My Favorite Prospect: Brewster, Montes De Oca, Rodon, Adams, Jarvis My Favorite Position Player: Jarvis, Fish Can't wait to see what this kids can do and who signs, I bet we sign most except for the late HSers. Montes De Oca is a really interesting case and can't wait to see how that plays out. I also think Jarvis signs and signs fairly quickly. Finally, How I would have drafted disregarding the slots: 1. Rodon 2. Adams 3. Fry/ DeCarr/ Greiner/ Cosart 4. Montgomery 5. Jake Reed 6. 7. Joey Pankake (wanted him badly, unbelievable talent offensively and glove, Hahn will regret this) 8. Jeff Gardner 9. Wetzler 9if possible) 10. Jarvis
  16. 1. Rodon 2. Hawkins 3. Danish 4. Davidson 5. Johnson 6. Adams 7. Anderson 8. Michalczewski 9. Adolfo 10. Beck Can't wait to see our depth after International Signings, great job by Hahn and KW rebuilding the system, very very pleased with it
  17. Prospects on MLB 100 Draft Prospects I like: P Grant Holmes P Luke Weaver P Michael Kopech P Jake Cosart 3B Joey Pankake P Jack Flaherty Here's to ChiSox winding up with a few of these guys after Beede, or Kolek, or Hoffman, or Rodon at 3 Past ChiSox draftees on this list include Tim Anderson, Andrew Mitchell, Courtney Hawkins, Keon Barnum, Chris Beck, and Kyle Hansen
  18. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 9, 2014 -> 05:52 PM) Good to hear about Trey M's D. Really hope he can stick at hot corner. Same here, I was really impressed, great glove and range, I know he's young but he should move up hopefully to WS by the summer
  19. Just saw Kanny in NJ last night and can report back on the team, briefly: - Pete Rose Jr. is a real vocal manager, and great guy that really loves his players, keeps it loose and looks just like his dad - Adam Engel has a real nice build and appears slightly bigger than 6'1 but didn't do much yesterday - Tyler Barnette doesn't really have anything special about him but he pitched a great game yesterday in awful conditions - Andrew Mitchell has a great build and was throwing mid-90s in relief - Tyler Danish, who I didn't get to see pitch even in the 'pen seems really short (like not even 6 ft), but seems like he's of high energy - Omar Narvaez has a great swing and a decent amount of pop but a pretty strange stocky build - Danny Hayes reminds me of a skinnier Dan Black, also displayed a lot of pop - Thomore may breakout this season, looked great yesterday and has great stats, not too much power but makes hard contact - Thomore, Hayes, and Engel all have similar builds - Shyrock is real tiny and didn't do much yesterday - Williams has a lazy swing, somewhat half-ass like 2011 Dunn - Trey Michalczewski is probably the top prospect on this team, great hitter, great stats, and played amazing D yesterday, makes play look easy even in rough conditions - Rondon didn't do much offensively or defensively yesterday but looked Alexei-like defensively in between innings fielding - Jose Brito appears WAY taller than 6'0 and about 20 pounds below 175 lbs, real lanky and was throwing real well, strange mechanics and wind-up
  20. If we were contending I'd be all over Beckett but I'd deal for someone young right now... my question is the f*** did we ever trade Danny Hudson for Edwin Jax, imagine if we still had Buerhle too
  21. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 04:52 PM) Hope we sign him. As do I, great guy too, I saw him when he was in single-A and was talking to him a little, at the time he wasn't a prospect but the following year he shot up the charts, I'm just curious as to why he got released over any bum with a 8.00 ERA in AA as a 28 year old? I'll never fully get this business
  22. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 08:23 AM) Jon, I thought I was the only one on the board who didn't like the trade when it happened. Glad I'm not alone here. It's very easy for us to second guess the trade now, however. One of the reasons I didn't like it then was because Arizona had such a good look at him in 2013, and they didn't want him. I always thought they could have gotten more for Reed, or just have kept him. Oldsox, I never even thought of that, I was just upset because Reed was still young, MLB-proven, and had 40 saves on last year's pathetic team and made me comfortable as a fan in the 9th. I didn't hate Davidson at first and still don't, but he's been very disappointing so far. First not even making the team out of camp and now just straight sucking at Charlotte. My hope's of him to be a young injury-free Crede are slowly dying. I'd love to just keep Connor at 3rd maybe just for this year pr until he craps out and ultimately Beckham either at 2nd or 3rd (where he was in his amazing rookie year) and Semein at the opposite. Life without Reed has been way to tough in ChiTown. Plug him in as our closer and see how many games we'd have won and how much better our pen would be with Lindstrom as his SU. Hell, I go to bed every night praying Bobby Jenks has found the fountain of youth and would want a comeback in ChiTown. This pen is awful and should be addressed in the coming weeks.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 07:59 PM) Davidson has been 2011 Adam Dunn bad in AAA. Didn't like this deal when it happened, his stats aren't helping his cause now, total bust (hopefully not), couldn't hit Zach f***in Stewart last week, I've loved Reed since his days in Kanny where I saw his velocity in action, much rather have extended instead of deal him for this bum, hopefully he proves me wrong
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 08:47 AM) Now there is a hell of a dark horse pick. I like his upside in a sense, but my god is he freaking raw. I'm on the bandwagon though.. I just think he will shine next season, however. still has a few years to break out too
  25. Just a few quick...Engel, Michalczewski, Rondon, Ayala, Guerrero
