  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) I'm hoping the most for Michalczewski, and then getting Engel would be key as well. I don't think Octavio is a realistic opportunity at all. He'd be our Sammy Ayala signing of last year if we can somehow get that done. Michalczewski would need third round money while Rodriguez would want up to second round money, paying both are unrealistic
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) Ravelo with his 1st homer. There's that. Bout time, really tearing it up since his promotion
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 02:09 PM) As noted by many, we could definitely use a potential impact bat at 3B in the pipeline, even if he's 3 1/2-4-5 years from the majors as a high schooler. Love to have Michalczewski, our top third base prospects are headlined by Buckner, Ravelo, and Grabe, all real borderline top 30 prospects
  5. QUOTE (staxx @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) I think the sox will make sure they are able to sign Michalczewski and then one of Engel/Rodriguez They'd definitely love to sign Michalczewski and Engel, Rodriguez will most likely attend school and raise his draft stock for 2016. I personally believe Michalczewski will be offered around $800,000 while Engel will be offered around $220,000. If Rodriguez is even offered it will be around $800,000 as well. I feel Michalczewski and Engel will sign very late while Rodriguez will be a failed deal on deadline night.

  8. Assuming they sign, which players just drafted will crack the White Sox top 25/30 prospects within a year? I'm saying Anderson, Danish, May, Mitchell, Lowry, and Michalczewski (if signed) will all be prospects by this time next year. Last year's draft produced prospects in Hawkins, Barnum, Beck, DiMichele, Hansen, Brennan, Basto, Barraza, Johnson, Ayala, and Coats, including a few good late performers in Kiser and Grabe, as well as two interesting pitching prospects in Guerrero and Throne.
  9. Coats was just named a 2013 Sally League All-Star starter LF for the North Division, congrats Jason
  10. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 06:46 PM) https://twitter.com/mdgonzales/status/342044246284574721 “@MDGonzales: Could come down to college P vs. HS SS.” Gonzalez vs. Crawford
  11. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) No HS catchers in the first round, please. I actually like Ciuffo, especially with the AJ comparison but it's not likely after being loaded with catchers and just drafting Ayala
  12. Just a thought - If Chicago takes a college pitcher (Gonzalez, Stanek), they will likely place them in Great Falls for a few games and possibly move them up to Winston-Salem by skipping Kannapolis like most of their early selected college pitchers of the past (Lumsden, Broadway, McCulloch, Poreda, Sale). If they take a college outfielder (Wilson, Judge, Ervin) they will likely report straight to Kanny after they sign.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) That's great news. At this point, even a half season at Kannapolis would have to be considered a victory for him. If he stays healthy, he may still pop 15 over the fence for Kanny, if he struggles I'd assume he'll at least start 2014 in Kanny.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 02:04 PM) Awesome. When's Barnum coming off the DL? Aiming for mid-June, after minors All-Star break

  16. After hearing my second Jim Callis interview today on 670 The Score, I'm very confident Chicago will take Alex Gonzalez from Oral Roberts at 17. Seems like a bit of a reach to me.
  17. Just heard on ESPN 1000, the ChiSox are into college pitchers and toolsy outfielders at pick #17. Jim Callis said they'd take Ryne Stanek if he falls or Alex Gonzalez from Oral Roberts who they scouted. Also have ties to Aaron Judge, Austin Wilson, and Phillip Ervin. Stanek is the most unrealistic choice, but he's probably my favorite.
  18. Also, hearing rumors of a future MLB International Draft (against it) and trading draft picks (support if only picks for picks) starting to heat up again.
  19. Latest Mock: 1. Houston Astros - Gray 2. Chicago Cubs - Appel 3. Colorado Rockies - Bryant 4. Minnesota Twins - Stewart 5. Cleveland Indians - Shipley 6. Miami Marlins - Moran 7. Chicago White Sox - Wilson 18. Los Angeles Dodgers - Manea If the ChiSox don't draft Wilson look for them to take Aaron Judge or reach for RHP Alex Gonzalez. The only thing keeping me away from saying that they won't take Wilson is their history with Joe Borchard.

  21. Myles Jaye was promoted this morning to hi-a Winston-Salem. In his first start, Jaye gave up 2 runs on 4 hits in 6.0 innings while striking out 6 and walking 1.
  22. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 12, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) LOL you bring up an irrelevant point, but still post pad by correcting the round. The point remains you don't take a first round pick that dropped velocity. Beck isn't working out all that well right now anyway. He's not striking anyone out to think his success will project well in the higher levels. Beck had one bad outing, his ERA is 2.25, has a WHIP of 1.20, and batters are batting .219 against him.
  23. Kyle Hansen started for Kanny today, bad outing
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) Isn't Phegley ISU as well? No, he's an Indiana Hoosier alum
