Looks like Brady Shoemaker will miss the rest of the entire 2013 season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. http://www.wthitv.com/dpp/sports/high_scho...ry#.UY-wXcqG4eo http://www.sycamorepride.com/showthread.ph...rgery-%284-3%29

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2013 -> 10:22 AM) It didn't stop us from drafting Beck. Also, Chicago has a fascination with Indiana State products over the last handful of years. (Omogrosso, Zaleski, Petricka, Shoemaker, Van Skike)

QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2013 -> 10:45 AM) I read in an old BA that one of the top scouts of the Sox has a close connection to Aaron Judge. Definitely seems like a solid pick, when will we hear who their scouts have been viewing?
-
I still personally feel Chicago will take either Austin Wilson or Aaron Judge.
-
IF I was making the first ChiSox selection, my players of interest would include: Colin Moran Sean Manaea Kohl Stewart Ryne Stanek Ryan Eades Aaron Judge Austin Wilson Bobby Wahl Kevin Ziomek Tom Windle Jonathon Crawford (possibly second round)

QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 11, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Peterson and Denney might be around. Moran won't be. Agreed, I might take Peterson if he's still around or might look for another 5-tool player that KW likes. I'd also consider taking a LHP or a HS RHP. If Moran falls to 17, he is a must take, the fall is unlikely, but he has phenomenal skill.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 11, 2013 -> 06:18 PM) Mitchell was a well received pick too. I remember being happy as I watched him a good deal during LSU's title run that year. I believe he was the CB Championship MVP as well. Unfortunately, Mike Trout was the next pick. Absolutely, most exciting draft pick I could remember in years, I remember he was the NCAA's MOP in baseball and then I saw him a few times with Kanny. That was pre-injury when he was flying.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) I'd love Stanek. He was considered a top 5 pick early this year. Stuff has been down a bit and some command issues, but he probably has the highest upside of the college arms that might be available at 17. Similar things could be said about Manaea if he fell that far. Rogers reiterated today that the Sox would love for Trey Ball to fall to them. I'd echo that sentiment, but kid has some major helium lately. I'd love for Stanek to fall to 17, formerly the top talent of this class, goes for Manaea as well, I feel that if they both fall to 17 (unlikely), Chicago takes Manaea.

How was the draft process? were the ChiSox a surprise team?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 9, 2013 -> 09:11 AM) I saw the return-by-mid-June info, but, has someone said he's headed for Kanny? Probably is, just wondering if you heard that from someone. I've read from multiple sources that Barnum will be sent to Kanny, that was pre set back however.
-
Barnum to return from DL and report to Kannapolis by mid-June
-
Hawkins to return from DL in 3-4 weeks
-
Just read tat Webb has been hitting 100 MPH this year, improved velocity along with numbers this season

Saw a handful of guys Chicago might be interested in at 17: If They Fall: Manea, LHP, Indiana State (hard thrower, possible future closer, falling slowly but doubt he falls to 17) Moran, 3B, UNC (Power hitting 3B with great defense, not sure if he's falling) Stewart, RHP, TX HS (Top 10 talent who's likely to fall due to 2-sport commitment to Texas A&M) Just Right: Eades, RHP, LSU (Hard thrower, questionable durability) Risers: Judge, OF, Fresno State (huge outfielder, big power bat) Wilson, OF, Stanford (athletic right-fielder) Also, I feel like they will be into CA HS 3B Ryan MacMahon in the second or third round, has QB experience as well and is committed to USC, very strong with huge upside

Anyone know if there are any prospects on the DSL team? Any new international signings either? Over the past handful of years, who from the DSL team has made it to play full season in the states?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 7, 2013 -> 09:49 AM) There's a guy who puts a lot of videos up for both Kanny and W-S (and other SAL and CAR league teams) on YouTube, FS talks with him regularly. He was there yesterday for the double-header. I'm very curious to see the video on Cose - he converted to a sidearm delivery, scrapes 90, his stuff moves a lot, and it has been working for him. When I saw him pitch in early April he didn't throw side-arm, must of converted very recently. I did notice he hit 90 and that his pitches had good movement though.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 7, 2013 -> 12:21 AM) Very encouraging first appearance. To add to his profile as a prospect, Hansen was a top 100 draft prospect last year despite being picked in the sixth round. Probably why he was signed for over slot?? Yeah, looks like ChiSox got draft steals in Beck, Hansen, Johnson, and Coats in 2012.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130506 Cose the hard-luck loser in the early game. Still has a 2.14 ERA, though. Also saw Cose only got 1 run of support in his last 13 innings, fits right in with the Major League club
-
Hansen debuted tonight for Kanny in a closing role pitching 2 innings, striking out 4, walking one, giving up 0 hits, and earning his first full-season save.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2013 -> 09:46 PM) Kyle Hansen with a great outing Interesting to see that he's in a relief role, thought they would let him at least attempt to start games in the lower levels.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 6, 2013 -> 09:39 PM) Micah Johnson--25 bags. When I saw him play live about a month ago, it wasn't even that he had amazing speed, he had very good speed but was a very smart base-runner. If he continues stealing bags, will he eventually be a Top 20 ChiSox Prospect?

Jirschele demoted to Kanny (no surprise), will take on utility role

Your formula interests me quite a bit, I'd still rank them prospective wise, but I like the formula.
