I am not sure how much longer he has but I am fine with giving him a 3 year deal at this point with a team option as the 3rd year

Aren't we worried about every pitchers health? IF they have had problems in this past it is "oh he is injury prone." If he has had been injury free for 5 years it is "His elbow is bound to burst at some point" Injury risk is there for every single pitcher. It is just the nature of pitching

I highly doubt they wait that long. My guess is they want to sign before the end of the year or maybe first couple weeks of January at the latest
