It seems like the National Guard presence as really made a difference. A lot better tonight, why weren't they out there from the beginning is beyond me

Yoenis Cespedes traded to Detroit for Rick Porcello
BigHurt3515 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 01:51 AM) Right, but if he DOESN'T resign with us, then you've traded away those prospects for absolutely nothing in return, considering Cespedes won't make us a contender in 2015. I think Mookie Betts has to be the absolute #1 target from the Boston OF. I don't think the Red Sox are looking for prospects for any of their OF's. They want starting pitching I am sure and we don't have that to trade away. I would love to have Betts as well but just don't see them trading a young talent for prospects -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 01:48 AM) At least that makes sense and may get some of those looters/burners killed. They try to burn down some neighboring towns? I wouldn't think that would go over too well with the cops in those towns. Some heads are gonna be busted I bet. They did stuff if Dellwood and on Grand Ave which is not in Ferguson, more in downtown near SLU college

#stlcopd Chief Belmar: We were really hoping for peaceful protests." #FergusonDecision." What a damn idiot and these people did horrible jobs. You can hope for peaceful protests but you have to be more prepared and had to know this was going to happen again..

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 01:34 AM) Should be enough time to burn down ALL the businesses in town and all the vehicles in town. Maybe they'll start burning down their own houses, too. So stupid. By now we ALL know the outrage, people of Ferguson. We know you are sad and furious and ashamed to be living in America after this decision. So unless you want to move, you better stop destroying your own town. You know, none of those businesses are going to rebuild. Most towns want to attract new business; guess you all want to just end the existence of your city. They are already starting to go outside of the city of Ferguson which I am sure they will continue to do

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 01:28 AM) Why would to want Cespedes who is vastly overrated and has 1 year left on his contract? He's not a good fit for this team. I personally like Cespedes and like I said above I think he would fit in great with Jose and Alexei on this team. Just because he only has 1 year left doesn't mean he wouldn't resign with us. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 12:54 AM) I assure you that if they waited until morning to make the announcement, the riots and looting would begin when nighttime rolls around. They announced it at night so that the innocent people who work or go to school would have ample time to get home safely before it began. This will continue for multiple nights, probably a week or longer.

Cespedes with Alexei and Jose could only mean good things. Comfort factor along with hitter friendly park could mean good things from him. I honestly would love him on this team but we don't have what the Red Sox want unless we trade Quintana which isn't happening -
This is just crazy.. Cop car burned. Looting while just taking orange soda. This is just stupid
-
He is pain free but doesn't know if he will play.......

Why does a 12 year old have an air soft gun in a park in the first place?? Some parents suck

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) Where at? I live and work about 20-30 minutes west of Ferguson and nothing at all happened around here when everything first started. I know my work has some safety precautions in place and a few of my coworkers are a little freaked out but I honestly don't think it's going to get too crazy unless you're right in the heart of Ferguson. My family lives around 20-30 minutes south of downtown St. Louis on 55.. I doubt anything will happen around there but you never know.

Being from the St. Louis area and going back for Thanksgiving I am a little nervous about what is going to happen

Seriously? We aren't trading Sale. Why is this always brought up? -
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 10:26 PM) That's why I said IF .Most people would've phrased that 3/36 or put the PER year in there. Maybe we get Pablo now for 3B? Maybe not

Garcia should not be on the MLB roster if we want to compete. Simple as that. He would be a fine September call up for pinch running and such but that is about it.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 12:45 AM) FYI, Madden, FIFA, and NBA 2K15 are all $30 at Walmart this weekend. So if you wanted to pick one of those up at half-price, now's the time. It's better than going during Black Friday. Is it online or only in stores?

Has LaRoche made any comments about signing yet?
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 10:52 PM) Allow me to be frustrated with the LaRoche signing for Christ's sake. Did the dude kill your dog or something??
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) This f***ing sucks. But it's very White Sox. Cabrera is the obvious choice, but we decide to play it cheap and waste $25 million in the process. This is why we're an also ran franchise for most of our history. This is a complete waste of money for a DH who will be lucky to slug .430 next season. Very KW. Very KW. Who am I kidding? This will never f***ing change until JR passes on to the next plane. Are you upset?

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 03:25 PM) For what it's worth Buster Onley ranked the top 10 SS's in baseball in an insider article today. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/buster-olney/post?id=8669 According to the article he ranked them...."Through conversations with team evaluators, general managers and our own statistical analysts" to come up with this list. The list...and I'll put a breif synopsis of why each guy is ranked where they are according to Buster 1. Simmons- Basically he's by far the best defensive SS in the game is still young and fairly cheap. 2. Peralta- He's top 5 in both OPS and defensive runs saved among SS's the past 3 years. 3. Desmond- His combo of speed and power makes him a "dynamic" player 4. Tulo- If it wasn't for injuries he would be clear cut #1 5. Hardy- GG defense and 20 HR power make him one of the best 6. Crawford- Didn't say much....just that he's consistent and saves runs on D 7. Aybar- Consistent hitter who puts the ball in play and doesn't K 8. Alexei- (copy and pasted whole excerpt) He has some value in the trade market (see below). Justin Havens of ESPN Stats & Info sent along this note about his defense and offense: “He may be slipping defensively, at least as measured by defensive runs saved -- he’s gone from +14 to +1 to -4 since 2012. Also, through the end of May, he was hitting .329 with a .479 slugging percentage; after that, he hit .243 with a .370 slugging over a span of 423 plate appearances." 9. Escobar- Likened him to Hardy...consistent all around 10. Castro- shows flashes but his D is bad and isn't consistent enough Well there it is....feel free to pick it apart. And remember to save all rude comments for Buser Olney. I'm just the messenger. Jhonny Peralta is the 2nd best SS?? Haha ok Buster

IF we give up Quintana (Which defeats the purpose of what the Sox are trying to build) we better get one hell of a deal for him. Q is the most underrated pitcher in the game and has such a great contract and only getting better.
-
I don't want to trade Quintana for Bruce let alone Quintana+ Reds have enough damn pitching.
-
At least he closed down the game against the world champs
