As others have said, I think Beckham's status as trade bait is why we don't want to move him out of the 2 spot. Likewise, putting Gillaspie in the 2 spot behind Eaton is a recipe for disaster because it guarantees that Gillaspie sees LHP late in games and he is awful against lefties
I feel like keeping him at the 2 hole right now is actually hurting his value..
Gillaspie has been seeing a lefty almost every night already so it wouldn't be much of a difference. I feel like that is an easy cop out reason to keep Beckham there.

Gillaspie bats lower because he has struggled lately and you want someone to bat in the middle of all those turds in the bottom of the order. It also doesn't hurt to ensure Abreu bats in the first inning
Beckham sucks against RHP, put Gillaspie 2nd.. He has struggled a bit but is still one of our better hitters this year.. He shouldn't be hitting that low when you have 2 guys in front of him that can't hit and have struggled way worse then Gillaspie

isn't his knee still sore?
Looks fine to me.. I don't know why that would effect where he bats in the line up. If he is good enough to be put in the line up, hit him where he should be hitting against RHP

Anyone else having problems with MLB.tv? I thought it might've been my internet, but it looks like everything is working fine except for MLB.tv apps - Xbox, ipad.
Yes, was trying to watch on my PS4 but it kept stopping every few minutes.. Working fine on my laptop

That number has already been disconnected. lol
EDIT: Nevermind, maybe it's a landline.
I wonder if it really was his number. Carroll seems like a great clubhouse guy

The latest on a potential trade that could send Jake Peavy from the #RedSox to the #STLCards: http://sbnation.com/e/5645484
Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo 3m
As I reported last year, #STLCards discussed Wacha, Martinez, Wong in trade talks with #WhiteSox for Peavy: http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2013/7/28/4565...inez-wacha-wong …
I'll be pissed if the Red Sox get a bigger haul for Peavy than the Sox did.
Wait the Cardinals were willing to trade Wacha for Peavy??

I would rather have Flowers than Buck. By far. Acquiring Buck would be a horrific move as he's one of the worst hitters in baseball IMO.
I would rather have Phegley, Nieto, or Smith then Buck or Flowers

Well, its expensive, they live pretty far out, traffic, kids, etc......
Abreu doesn't have any money?? What happen to the money we gave him!?
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 11:57 AM)
All we know is that he has seen them once since their arrival.
That is crazy to me.. As much as they mean to him I am surprised they aren't at every home game..

Abreu's family has been in the U.S. for two months (in Florida, one would assume Miami) and will be with him throughout the All-Star game festivities in Minnesota.
Interesting they're not in Chicago for the summer, but maybe they're more comfortable in Florida.
Awesome that his parents will be there! They haven't been to a game yet have they?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 09:22 PM)
Nieto every day would be worse than Flowers at this time. Maybe in a year or two, but right now he would get eaten alive.
I don't know if you can get worse then Flowers.. Nieto starting 3 or 4 times a week can't be as bad as Flowers is
