QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:54 AM) And todays 110 wasn't stressful whatsoever. Meh, he still pitched well enough to where he should have been out of that inning after 1 run. That ground ball to Lexi had double play written all over it and I still think Kendrick swung at that 3rd strike. The last 20 or so pitches were very stressful and I wouldn't doubt if we here a "we are skipping his next start with elbow soreness" Trust me, I believe that too but it isn't what happened.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 01:02 AM) Outside of Cooper...Who probably had a big say in when he should have been taken out. We simply don't know that.. I assume he would have a lot of say but it is ultimately up to Robin I would assume -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:58 AM) It was definitely a change-up low and off the plate by a couple of inches. Don't know what the Angels' announcers called it a fastball at 86 MPH. Were you the one saying it was a fastball during the game thread?? -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:58 AM) Yes. And right after Alexei's error is where I would have pulled him, although I don't think the bullpen started warming up yet until the run scored on the previous batter. I feel like that moment probably took the air out of Sale, or at the very least pissed him off. Whether or not it affected him, I'm not sure, but i had just had a bad feeling at that moment. Not getting the bullpen going at the beginning of the inning was probably the biggest mistake, IMO. But not sure if that's on Coop or Robin. I feel like I usually see Coop picking up the phone to the bullpen. Me and you have been on the same page.. Actually I would have taken him out after giving up the run. Would have had Putnam up to come in to try and get the DP. But I really had no problem with Petricka being up, just not my preference. -

Ok so: 2 singles with 2 outs in the 7th and gets out of it. Lead off double in the 8th, single up the middle to score a run (100 pitches now), grounder to Alexei's right, does his leg slide thing, bobbles on the transfer to throw it, another single (now bases loaded), Coop comes out and talks to Sale (115 pitches) and then he gives up a home run to Trout on a 3-2 pitch down in the zone -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:43 AM) Pretty close, but actually it was a leadoff double on a bloop down the LF line. Then a single up the middle scored the runner to make it 5-1. Then came Alexei's error on the DP ball and the rest of what you spoke of. Sorry. Thanks for correcting me though. That makes it even worse lol.. -

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:36 AM) Did not see the game. Actually turned on the radio for the Trout at bat. Just wondering how Ventura lost the game? not disagreeing. Just wondering what moves he failed to make: Leaving Sale in too long? Farmer and DJ said Sale threw a bad pitch to Trout -- a change up over the plate after he showed that he could not handle the fastball. At the end of the 7th inning inning Sale let up 2 hits before recording the 3rd out. He was at around 90-92 pitches. He came out for the 8th (no problems), let up a single, Alexei bobbles a sure out at 2nd (Sale is not up to 100 pitches with runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs), Sale then lets up another hit to make it bases loaded, another hit to score a run, and then Coop came out to talk to Sale who was at 115 or so pitches and left him in to face Trout and gave up a grand slam on a 3-2 pitch.... You make the judgement -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:29 AM) I was counting his minor league start as well....He's been healthy enough to pitch for 5 starts now....At what point do you think they should take the kid gloves off and let him go back to being the guy that can give you 110+ pitches on a regular basis? With his elbow issues he has had in the past I don't think he should be going over 110 pitches on a regular bases unless it isn't a stressful 110 pitches.. That isn't really the point with this game. I am not upset he threw so many pitches or even came out for the 8th inning. But after the first 1 or 2 guys reach base he should have been taken out, end of story..

Here comes the downward spiral a week before I actually get to see the team play in person.. And right before we play the Tigers.. Horrible -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:11 AM) And is he brought in Scott Downs people would still probably b****. It's its 5th start since coming off the DL...When do you take the kid gloves off? It was his 4th start off the DL. and one of those starts he only threw 40 pitches because of the rain..
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:04 AM) "Aces" like Verlander, Sherzer, Lee, Hernandez, Price routinely go 110+ pitches. It's not like this is anything new. I wouldn't say he was exactly laboring either, he was still throwing the ball 94-96. It sucked, yes, and Robin isnt a great manager, but it's ridiculous the kinda hate I'm reading. If he hadn't been on the DL for a whole month because of his elbow I would be fine with him throwing that many pitches... it really isn't even about the pitch count. It was about the situation on the field

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:04 AM) 94 MPH?? Stone/Hawk said it was a change up like 3 or 4 times. I never saw the MPH so I just assumed they were right and it looked slow.. Ok De Aza, just stare at the ball

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:03 AM) Q against Angels is a bad matchup not expecting him to win. I feel the same...
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:01 AM) This on the heels of Kershaw loss road trip not going well right now. If we can somehow pull out the game tomorrow we will still be .500 or if we lose, 2 games under which would be heartbreak considering

quick 9th inning I assume.... See, I told you guys. I had a bad feeling about this game..

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:58 PM) Where the hell is Beckham playing on Aybar Apparently to pull..

I can't believe we are going to lose this game... 3 games completely blown in the past 2+ weeks

Fastball high!!

f*** off. s***ty ass inning.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:52 PM) Please don't be one of these God-awful extra inning games where we use up every single reliever and lose in the 12th-14th. Almost rather they take a knockout blow right now. Well, no...can't quite agree to that. Trout was 1-10 against Sale coming into that AB. Cheated on the fastball. It was low, not a bad location. Just Trout was better in that instance. It was a change up low

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:48 PM) Sale should have absolutely started the 8th. All you people yelling and screaming about it AFTER THE FACT don't get any points from me. Were all of you saying he should be taken out after 7 innings when it actually happened? I must have missed that. But Sale should have never stuck around the face Trout, or really any batter after Alexei's error, that much should have been obvious. Agreed. After the first or 2nd guy reached he should have been out.. Pathetic
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:45 PM) Wouldn't be surprised if it was Chris that wanted to go back out there after seeing how pissed he was after giving up those 2 hits...Regardless...f*** STEVE STONE I have no problem with him going out there in the 8th. But like I said after one base runner reached he should have been pulled
-
QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:44 PM) With about 95 pitches through 7 and a 5-0 lead (and a bullpen who really didn't pitch yesterday), I figured he would not have even started the inning. I thought the same. But figured he would get the chance to pitch a clean 8th and be taken out after one batter reached. But what do I know.
-
Seriously.. Why did he not take Sale out when loading the bases?

f*** off Robin/Coop
