  1. Keuchel is the only starter that hasn't thrown to Collins. Rodon has a 0.9 ERA pitching to Grandal in 2 starts. Grandal was injured (any may still be recovering) coming into this season. The Sox laid out a plan to give him a guaranteed off days on a schedule to rest his knee and nurse him back to health. I am hoping this is why we have seen so much Collins against LHP (as opposed to TLR just being dumb). Grandal could have gone on the DL, but instead he basically had no spring training and came into the year stale with the understanding he would get extra rest to start they year. It seems like the Sox are getting him back to his normal playing time, but we lead the league in double headers (I imagine) so Collins is still getting a lot of starts. There is a lot more going on than just looking at the number of games played.
  2. It's really tough to play at the Sox stadium from 330-530 (obviously it varies on the time of the year). The shadows for the pitchers/hitters and the sun in the CF/LF face absolutely affects the game.
  3. LaRussa said he was out of the dugout yelling to take prior the pitch. I was referring to what LaRussa did prior to the homer not after after.
  4. We'll see how the Sox handle it, but I have some hesitancy that the Sox will put Eloy back in LF. I think they might make him DH for the rest of 2021 and regroup after the season. To the original thread question, Mendick is gone I'd think because he's the only one with options. Every other guy offers something unique as well. Leury makes 3.75m so he'll survive the regular season.
  5. Hopefully they keep hanging in there and use some resources to buy a few arms and keep Bryant and everyone else. Then in August their awful pitching is exposed and Bryant walks for free and Cubs start a rebuild on flat feet.
  6. I don't know, if you re-watch the tape Mercedes looks down to third and didn't receive a sign. LaRussa said he was out of the dugout and yelling for him to take. That's not on camera and seems like he was blatantly lying to the media. Pretty weird situation. Glad the Sox got hot to get behind it all even if the board is still going on.
  7. I am open to change but the mickey mouse BS extra innings rule are the worst thing to happen to the game in same time. But I understand Manfred has to market the game to people who don't like it.
  8. Fry threw a perfect inning on Sunday. 2IP, 4K and a BB so far. Obviously we have Bummer/Crochet at the MLB level. Fry probably rejoins the team this week or next. Behind those three, still have Schryver and Turley behind them. LH bullpen options have become a strong spot for the Sox.
  9. Seems like they tarp until around gametime and the rain should pass. That said, if yesterday's forecast is any indication for today, we shouldn't trust the forecast. I think the Sox were going to do anything to get yesterday's game in and assumed they wouldn't get today in. All of a sudden both seem very possible.
  10. I mean you have the "fact checkers" who ruled out this possibility as a conspiracy theory. Declared it false. They are now updating their "facts" to be different. You don't have to be so partisan about it. The media said one thing and said it emphatically, a year later they're saying the opposite. It's not that hard to follow nor does the media deserve you or anyone defending it. It seems they deliberately deceived the public because lying about the truth was better for their numbers.
  11. Without Eloy/Robert, the lineup is kind of a free for all but when this team is right, Madrigal should be in the #9 spot. Players Madrigal is currently outslugging (minimum 100 PAs) - Vaughn, Moncada, Grandal and Eaton.
  12. You should move to China and go visit the Uighurs if China is so much better.
  13. Kade McClure in 3 of his 4 starts: 15 innings. 3 ER. 19K. 4BB. Kade McClure in 1 of his 4 starts: 1.1 innings. 9ER. 1K. 2BB. Kade McClure season ERA 6.61. Baseball is tough but I am sure his 20/4 K/BB carries weight.
  14. This is probably where the Sox are at. Given how dreadful the forecast is for the next 36 hours, I don't know how likely that is. September 2nd seems like it'd be a possible makeup date as it is a week the Sox are off Monday/Thursday and have two at home with Pittsburgh in between the off days. Sox then travel to KC. Baltimore is in Florida facing Toronto and then heads to NY. So it'd be a tough break for the O's but they'll probably be 25 games back by then.
  15. West called it out when Gallegos came to the mound. Gallegos didn't throw a pitch yet when West made him wear a different hat.
  16. Yeah you're right about that. If not the umpires then who? I just don't get why Gallegos is one of the only to get called out.
  17. I was in between on Schlidt's reaction. I feel the fact that it was Joe West that started the drama gives his point a bit more credence. We've definitely seen a lot of guys with crap on their hats all year and no one has said anything or done anything about it. Hendriks has a big brown circle in the middle of his brim. In Gallegos case, it was pretty clearly rosin that caught the attention which is entirely legal. I do think Schlidt's point of there being video of certain pitchers repeatedly going to the same part of their gloves, being unwilling to lick their fingers, etc. (Karinchak comes to mind) and nothing is done and then Gallegos (who pitched great with a substitute hat) gets singled out when he's probably not doing anything wrong. Either way Schlidt was backing his guy. I wish we had a manager who would do that.
  18. Tomorrow's forecast might be even worse. It looks like rain starts today at 2-4 and goes for 36 hours. Sox already have a double header Monday. Could be some scheduling craziness if they can't get one of the next two games in. Engel probably is planned for Monday. Sheets left the game yesterday after falling over the dugout rail making a catch at first base.
  19. I would think Engel joins the team on Monday but a lot can happen roster wise. -If Engel or Kopech don't move well today/tomorrow, either can go on the DL. -If Crochet is now a seldom used mop-up guy, do they send him down? -If Kopech is okay, but not well enough to make the start Monday, is there a roster shuffle to get Stiever/Lopez up? -If Sox end up with double headers on Saturday and Monday, do they make moves to get more arms/fresher arms up here? I think any of Hamilton/Lamb/Crochet/Ruiz/Mendick can lose their roster spot in the next week. Either of Eaton or Kopech can hit the DL.
  20. Some substances enhance grip (rosin, sunscreen, pinetar). Other substances alter spin rate significantly. Whatever happened to Gallegos yesterday was a Joe West work.
  21. When I posted it he had been on base once and had struck out twice with RISP
  22. He doesn't have to respond to every post. I imagine he knows better than you what he can and cannot say re: the CCP. He willingly chose to live there, he always has and I imagine will continue to make his own decisions on what's acceptable to post and what isn't.
  23. This is a jinx. Worst game he's had in a while. That said, he seems to be coming into his prime. It's a beautiful thing.
