  1. Leury has had consistent playing time all year and has a .495 OPS. He had a multi homer game last year in his 16 games. He's barely sniffed being league average outside of that 16 game season. If Goodwin is healthy I think he should get the majority of the starts in CF over Leury. He's more proven on both sides of the ball and Leury on the bench affords more flexibility.
  2. I hate Mike Sweeney. Nothing personal but he owned us. His numbers during his era aren't that good though. I like Goldschmidt for the comp without Goldschmidt's speed from earlier in his career.
  3. Yeah I mean I can't disagree with you here. If Meyer is able to build a good culture right away, I feel like players would take to Tebow. I could be wrong though. I've just heard 100 people talk about Tebow and they all praise him unless they're talking about his ability as QB or a thrower. To me, he's like another coach. Coach of moral or something like that. All that said, this all probably fizzles out as we near the start of the season.
  4. I guess I am kind of assuming Goodwin gets a shot soon too. Lamb is at least left-handed and the Sox clearly like him. If you pencil in Vaughn in LF, Garcia/Goodwin/Engel in CF and Eaton in RF, it's kind of hard to have Hamilton on the bench with two of Garcia/Goodwin/Engel on the bench. Especially if the Sox trust Mendick in RF. I like Hamilton as a guy/teammate. He's obviously quick and good outfielder but this guy is absolutely useless at the plate. He makes me yearn for Leury.
  5. I don't necessarily disagree with you but I would think Hamilton goes when Engel returns. There is no reason to have them both on the same team.
  6. I don't know, I would be surprised if Tebow makes the team. That said, Urban Meyer has a bunch of new players coming in and a new star QB, I think he's bringing in Tebow to get a leader to help everyone buy in to the new Meyer regime. People who work with/play with Tebow rarely have a negative thing to say about him. The guy is a hardworking, inspiring, stand-up dude whether he deserves a spot on the final 55 or not.
  7. I could ask you the same. But you said you haven't been to Wrigley in years. Up until the end 2020, I lived in the city for the last several years. I go to a bunch of a Sox games, 2-3 Cubs games and 1-2 Bears games every year. Believe me, you are alone in thinking Soldier Field isn't a complete mess to get to and from.
  8. Grandal has been 38% better of an offensive contributor and has a 10 year track record. I don't know why you want to put your name next to this argument.
  9. Really? It's every season since 1945. So think of a player that qualified for a full season and they are included. I am sure Grandal is not the first slow guy with pull tendencies since 1945.
  10. From a financial standpoint, it makes no sense for the Sox to let the city in on their concessions and everything else. For the fans, it's much better to keep the city out of the Sox business as much as possible. I go to ~15-20 games a year. That would absolutely change if the Sox played at the Soldier Field site. Wrigley sucks ass but at least I can get an uber to drop me off down the street or take the redline and get off close to the stadium. The Bears are basically on an island without actually being on an island. I used to live at 14th and Michigan and would walk to Soldier Field and it would still take 45 minutes to get to the game. It's awful for everyone involved. Looks nice on TV. That's about where the good stops. Wrigley is awful but nowhere near as inconvenient as the Soldier Field. The Roosevelt red line to Soldier Field is about a 30-40 minute walk on gameday and probably 45+ after the game to get back to the station.
  11. The lowest BABIP over a full season is .196. There have been a total of two under .200 since WW2. Grandal currently sits at .119. I am going to guess Grandal's BABIP improves from now until September. https://community.fangraphs.com/the-ten-lowest-babips-since-1945/
  12. They will also balance out with Abreu hitting again, Giolito pitching like a TOR guy, Hendriks not giving up a HR every 3rd flyball, Foster having an ERA that is in the same universe of his peripheral performance and Heuer's BABIP not being one of the highest of any reliever in the league. They will also balance out when the Sox have one of the four outfielders they expected to break camp with healthy.
  13. https://nypost.com/2021/05/09/bears-rb-tarik-cohens-twin-electrocuted-to-death-police/ I saw Tarik post about him missing the other day. This is Cohen's twin too. ☹️
  14. I feel you're first on every ascendant prospect every year ?
  15. After today we have 10 games in 9 days.
  16. Early returns on Detroit's rebuild are brutal. Hate to see it.

    Rodon

I just love the way Rodon is commanding his FB but still not going full bore early in the starts. After Rodon turns the lineup over twice, the hitters get more comfortable with him like anyone else, and then all of a sudden he's pumping 98. Hahn deserves credit for sticking with him. Katz deserves credit for getting him in the right routine this offseason. Rodon deserves credit for finally putting the work in. If season ended today, no way Rodon doesn't get a playoff start. Just a brilliant development for the Sox.
  18. Trammell has never hit above A ball. I would let him hit in the minors and have the superior player in the MLB.
  19. So you can't be mature about the whole thing and ignore me is what you're saying? I don't know why that's so much to ask. The rest of your post is just deflecting and efforts to steer it personal as you do. I just know that your grating and unrelenting personality offers nothing of value for me and what I go to SoxTalk for. Look at your post history it's all anger-filled and going at it with people. I am trying to read/talk about the Sox. You're trying to teach people and "get" them. And while you do go at everyone, you absolutely have a personal obsession with me given your past pot shots and irrelevant knocks. Inflated sense of importance? I asked you to stop responding to my posts as I have in the past. What does that have to with importance? But if you insist on annoying me, that's fine I guess. Says more about you that you outright refuse to honor some random on the internet asking you to leave them alone. You're like the guy at the bar that just keeps hitting on the girl in the friend group that is clearly not interested. They never learn.
  20. I have an adblocker on both my computers. Fangraphs is one of the sites where it is basically impossible to use with an adblocker. Like the Tribune or other sites that won't let you read their content without turning off your adblocker. But if anyone doesn't have an adblocker, as stated above, you should get one.
  21. It's almost as if we were better off having the game played the way it's been played that last 100+ years... And to be clear, LaRussa and his staff should still know the rules. No matter how dumb they are.
  22. Caulfield I am talking about Kelenic - the subject of the thread. You want to talk about everything Mariners but Kelenic. My point is still - what is holding this guy back from being on the MLB roster.
  23. You disagree or mischaracterize with most of my posts. You alone take exception to my Sox posts more than the rest of the board combined. In fact, I am surprised I got to post 4 or whatever it is today without getting one of your lessons. Your responses almost always exude arrogance and they typically lead to a personal attack from you. You clearly you have some strange personal thing with me and I am not sure who you are or if you used to have a different username, but it's pretty strange. So how about, adult to adult, we agree not to respond to each other's posts? I will certainly hold up my end if you hold up yours. PS If you pay attention - people don't like when you take over threads with your pissing contests and arrogance. I, like many others, come here to talk Sox and your daily personal battles tend to distract from the SoxTalk. Almost like how the ads on FanGraphs make it more difficult for me to get to where I am trying to go. For the betterment of the site, I will gladly stop exchanging with you. I know it's probably tough for you to imagine that I could through my day and be so ignorant about the Sox without your jabs, but I am confident we can both grow from this. And plus, since I am asking for this, you can play it off like I am too scared and tell people I couldn't cut it with you. You can have more internet victories - and that's really why you post here right. Let's see if we could both be mature and just ignore each other. Please confirm you can do that.
  24. I touched on three different topics and you repeated something that I said in response to the situation which I said explicitly "I am not sure." Not all of us are the all knowing like you. Hopefully one day I can reach your level enlightenment. Until then, if you could just never respond to my posts so I can learn on my own that'd be great.
  25. None of this applies to my post. -They don't want to trade Haniger. -Rodriguez is in A ball I believe. -Paxson has nothing to do with their outfield I just feel like they had the PR issue and now they're just keeping him down to validate the approach as something other than clear service manipulation. They're saying they're competing, so make your active roster the best roster you can make it. They have already passed the service time threshold. No reason Kelenic isn't in the bigs.
