  1. There are a few things to cover with the lineup that are really in Renteria's hands: 1) Leadoff hitter - Unless the Sox roll with Robert in the #1 hole from his debut, I don't think the Sox have a natural leadoff hitter. 2) Abreu - As SoxAce alluded to, Renteria will likely give Abreu the 3 hole whether he deserves it or not. Personally, I'll give him the #3 spot against lefties and #6 against righties. 3) Moncada - Renteria loved to get cute with him. Let's not do that anymore. Make no mistake, Renteria is going to piss us off this year. That said, we actually have an abundance of talent that makes it pretty hard for him to screw up the lineup. My rules for Renteria: 1 - Tim Anderson does not bat 1st or 2nd unless there is a lefty on the mound. If there is a lefty on the mound go crazy. 2 - Put Yoan Moncada in the #2 hole in permanent marker and just leave him there. This is with the thinking Abreu is handed the #3 spot. Moncada should be #2/#3 in the lineup. 3 - Do not hit Leury Garcia #1 ahead of superior hitters assuming he fills in for Robert/Madrigal and injured players. Put him 9th and feel good about it. I'd rather see Grandal, Moncada, TA, Madrigal or Robert lead off than Garcia.
  2. I really had no idea what you were talking about and clarified my post to get a better understanding with you but that's fine. I'll stop posting then. I really don't have the time to post on here anyways just love the Winter Meetings and the active parts of the offseason.
  3. I am not saying that a deal with Boston can't happen. I am saying the reasons people are freaking out aren't anything to put trust in.
  4. Disagree here. Regardless of a trade or anything like that. Price is a leader. Get the black dude with a big mouth out of Boston and he'll be fine. If he were traded to the Sox I think he would contribute to the clubhouse in a very positive way. Dude's a winner. He's had problems with Boston because the fans shredded him over his injury ridden season and he went at it with Eckersly for ripping him in the booth. I don't think Steve Stone would ever engage with Price on a confrontational level and our fans are too sparse and concerned with hating the Boogie man Reinsdorf and his front office to attack Price.
  5. Was who alerting Passan? On Monday night, Passan basically said, in a forum with minimal exposure, that there's increasing likelihood to a Price trade coming together at the WM. He was speaking vaguely and did not mention the Sox or any teams.
  6. I know that Passan was the first to mention a Price deal occurring this week on Monday. He said it late Monday night on a show and didn't tweet it but I know it got my interest. To be clear, he didn't mention the Sox or any team for that matter. Okay. I don't think the Sale thing is happening. Was told by someone I trust it's "highly unlikely." You're looking too deep into it. Dave was just alerting a friend to keep an eye out for it.
  7. This is accurate enough materially speaking. Pay off my student loans and get me a job to sit on my phone all day like I could do sometimes when I was in college.
  8. Garfien quoted Hahn's GM speak and without context it seemed like he was saying a trade was going to happen. I think some of Hahn's other comments implied a level of confidence that a move eventually gets done but that was a bunch of nothing in my mind. Of course, I guess there are just levels to the chaos. I never said anything was imminent. Or that it's not imminent for that matter.
  9. Hm. Haven't seen that. Had a late meeting and came back to twitter freaking out.
  10. I don't have any reason to believe a deal is agreed upon or imminent or anything like that. That could be the case I suppose, but I am not exactly abreast with what's been going on all day.
  11. I still don't understand what brought this to the forefront all of a sudden. Not because of that fake Cishek account right?
  12. Bowden got that info directly from Renteria who was on his how an hour before the trade went through when the teams were waiting on medicals. What specifically is this in reference to? Hilarious or a dream world?
  13. I was not down on people who thought we wouldn't get Machado. I don't even know what that means. But like with your other claims, feel free to provide evidence or a reference. On the contrary, I definitely was shredded on Twitter one Friday night for saying we wouldn't get either Machado or Harper in the end. I was optimistic at one point as it was Spring Training and the Sox were far and away the best offer. The Sox were incredibly confident as was the media. Then a Maverick GM got his Maverick owner to sign off on a 300M deal the week the team was reporting to Spring Training. Things change and there are nuances to these fluid situations you're not seeming to consider. Regardless, never did I report the Sox were in agreement with Machado. We also had people on here stating he was flying into Milwaukee to sign and that when he visited Chicago he told his agent he wanted to sign before leaving. I just knew the Sox offered over 200M, the Yankees were out, Phillies were focused on Harper and was excited by the premise like most other Sox fans. Seems like you made an assessment of me off of your own misinterpretation and now you're changing your argument.
  14. Thanks Saufley. Hopefully any misunderstood Ferris Buehler quotes I make don't make you reconsider your stance.
  15. The problem with your premise is that I never criticized anyone with regards to Ozuna. Someone said I did at the time after misunderstanding my bad joke and I clarified that I wasn't criticizing. I criticized the idea of acquiring Ozuna because I don't like the risk but nothing to the individual reporter. Also, there's a difference between making educated guesses and speaking to fluid movements than reporting a deal as done when it isn't. So to back up your point, you should provide evidence of A) me being critical of the reporter AND B) proof of transactions that I reported that didn't come to fruition this off season or last. You won't do that because you can't. So ask yourself who's in the glass house here.
  16. Yeah I guess looking back I was not expecting the Sox to fully take the leap on pitching.
  17. Interesting point on Lowire. He's owed $10m. Also was a Brodie Van Wagenen client to complicate things
  18. You can always take a break man. It's not all that serious. I'm not really sure what's sad here.
  19. I deserve a spot here hah - June 6th! I definitely rounded out the the team a bit weak though. Oh well.
  20. I am sure they add someone given the number of guys they are linked to but Kingery has to play somewhere assuming he's not traded.
  21. I think you answered your own question. If Rendon wants to play 1B, DH, 2B, 3B, OF, etc. you cater to what he wants. Moncada has been open-minded to moving positions. Agree across the board.
