  1. Nat's complete their third trade since lunch acquiring Hunter Strickland from the M's who has one appearance since March. They acquire Hudson, Elias and Strickland. They're out on Colome. Rizzo always support his winners but they'll still choke in the playoffs. Sad.
  2. I don't know I almost feel like Sox have to keep Nova for mercy on the rest of the rest of the staff. Who replaces his innings? If you're not going to get anything for him might as well save your bullpen from a complete asswhooping if he's replaced by Nicolino or Despaigne
  3. Yeah there's no real comparison otherwise. Burr had success in A+ at the time of acquisition and was a pretty well-known college prospect at ASU. This kid is relative unknown with very little playing experience.
  4. Nope. Per Passan and Rosenthal it's Ray Black and Pomeranz. Questionable trade for Stearns good get by Zaidi. I can't imagine the Brewers are done in the pen picking up a glass figurine and a AAA flamethrower.
  5. Jack getting a head start on the complaining today I see.
  6. Braves, Dodgers, Phillies still in need. Possibly Nats and Brewers as well. Nats have acquired 2 relievers but have been said to want to acquire 3. Brewers just traded Dubon to San Fran for what is probably reliever in either Smith or Dyson.
  7. Not sure. Looks like Nats getting Elias though. Can't imagine they trade for three relievers so that would rule them out.
  8. Nats #4 prospect Wil Crowe was going to be the Sox pick if Gavin Sheets didn't make it to them in the 2nd in 2017.
  9. At the end of the day, this move is completely and entirely inconsequential but the optics are bad.
  10. Yeah that was my point - Phillies would still be in the market for a relief arm.
  11. Nats have Doolittle, a nice arm in a guy named Suero and a whole bunch of garbage. Good god is there pen bad.
  12. Does Hudson really take Nationals out of Colome? I feel Colome is a full tier above Hudson. Did the Phillies get someone other than Parker?
  13. I wasn't even considering the offseason. Just illustrating the point that they could hypothetically go to that lineup right now.
  14. After letting it sit a little, I think I understand this deal. I gave the Indians 8.5/10 as they acquired five players for 1! (!!!). I don't know much about the prospects (other than Allen if he still qualifies) but they're diversified. Puig helps them now. Reyes helps them now and in the future. Allen the jury is still out on but if they make him a quality #4 they should win this trade handedly. The other two prospects are just gravy. I guess the one knock would be they didn't even acquired the top prospect in the deal. I give the Padres 6.5/10. They took on some risk here if Trammel never takes the next step forward but neither of these players fit with them. Reyes is a god awful outfielder and Allen doesn't sniff their future rotations. Given the amount of org depth they have this is a great risk for them. I give the Reds 3/10. They just do whatever they can to get better in the short term but have hurt their future in the process. Trading Puig and Trammel for Bauer is a probable improvement for this year and a big improvement for next year. That said, they better win next year. If they're trying to compete annually I think they would've been better served trading Trammel for someone with more control or keeping Trammel. They're an interesting team though.
  15. Hypothetically swap Collins, Mercedes, Robert and Madrigal for Wellington, Reed, Jay and Sanchez RF Leury CF Robert (21) 3B Moncada (24) 1B Abreu LF Eloy (22) SS Anderson (26) DH Collins (24) C McCann 2B Madrgial (22) Bench: Mercedes, Engel, Goins
  16. It's being written now. I don't think a date has been put on it yet but within the next two weeks.
  17. You have to give Antonetti credit. He has plenty of constraints but he's creative and seems to put things together.
  18. Reyes scares me. I didn't realize how awful the Indians lineup is/was. Even with these two they could still use a replacement for Kipnis. SS Lindor, CF Mercado, 1B Santana, 3B Ramirez, DH Reyes, RF Puig, 2B Kipnis, LF Luplow, C Perez
  19. Lineup looks so much better than it did a week ago but the construction is still bad. I would go... S - RF - Leury R - SS - Anderson S - 3B - Moncada R - 1B - Abreu R - DH - Eloy L - LF - Jay R - C - McCann S - 2B - Yolmer R - CF - Engel
  20. Sure, but it's just too granular to get into at this point. We don't know who's going to get hurt in ST or who comes back slow. That said, Fulmer could probably get a spot that way but with the way relievers are used now I'd imagine it's a good bet the Sox recycle some relief arms with the flexibility prior to calling up Robert/Madrigal at the end of April (assuming that's the course of action).
  21. I think there's a better conversation in here. To steer it back, looking at the 40 as is, let's see who can stick around for OD 2020. I think there are 5 guys you can count off immediately in Detwiler, Nova, Osich, Castillo and Jay. From there, who are the near locks? **This is all assuming Colome is traded and no one else is. Obviously things change/happen and players can be traded but I am looking at them as locks for point of exercise. Both Rodon and Burr will miss the first half and more so they can be shifted to 60 day IL after Spring Training. Lets just put Madrigal and Robert in their place for ease of exercise. Then I have 5 guys that will be gone for sure in Detwiler, Nova, Osich, Castillo and Jay. The next tier is coin flip or better guys. This group is 6 deep. 22. Pretty amazing Rondon was picked up by the first team that had the chance. I do think the Sox set him up for failure and there is some natural ability and upside with Rondon. Wish him the best. Maybe the O's are just the shit show to get him some (almost) everyday looks.
