  1. Yup it's a DH. Additionally, it's a home game against a shitty team and a date where people get off work. Sox can ease Cease into the MLB with a can of an opponent in front of what should be a healthy home crowd in what has the makings of a great day at the stadium.
  2. Sox seem pretty set on keeping Leury at SS. I feel it's a showcase of sorts letting competing teams know that while he's turned into a nice outfielder, he still has the ability to play the middle infield. They call up Detwiler and Palka today, send Detwiler down for Cease for 7/3 DH, dump Ruiz/Osich/Fulmer for Covey once he's done rehabbing. By the end of the first week of July Sox are rolling with SS Leury 3B Moncada 1B Abreu C McCann/Collins LF Jimenez RF Palka/Cordell/Jay CF Jay/Cordell/Tilson DH Collins/Palka 2B Yolmer Rotation 1) Giolito 2) Nova 3) Cease 4) Covey 5) Lopez Still not good but better

Hey! That's awesome man! Hopefully this company values what you bring to the table better than the last.
  4. 1) Get Varnell to A+ already. Dude is 24. What are we waiting for? 2) Palka's BB% is ~14% this year. Give him another shot. Tilson/Cordell have nothing. 3) Jimmy Cordero is 10/1 K/BB with 1 ER in 8.1IP at Charlotte. He's also racking up the GB. Very small sample size, but if he's going to be on the 40 man, let's let him get the next opportunity in the pen over Viera/Ruiz/Osich crap. 4) Tyler Johnson is back and doing Tyler Johnson things. Good to see. Dude has done nothing but put people down since joining the Sox org. Hopefully up in AA soon. 5) Steele Walker beating the piss out of the ball in W-S is exactly what we needed on the farm. 6) Tiquan Forbes has doubled his career BB% this year settling in at 12.6% and a 113 wRC+. This dude is a real athlete. Great to see his game evolving. Still just 22.
  5. Yeah that's fair. The figurative roadblock everyone not named Madrigal/Robert have hit at AA is pretty scary. Even so, if Walker has Gonzalez's BABIP in A+ he has a better slash than Gonzalez did. Walker still not even above .300 BABIP with recent run. In that same vein, I don't want any of our pitching prospects to go to Charlotte.
  6. Very polished high schooler. Has a starters mix that he can throw for strikes. Keith Law said that if he were to go to college and perform well he would be selected in the front half of the first round. Obviously that's a big IF. Where Spencer Adams is drafted high for his projectables, size and athleticism, Dalquist is drafted high for his ability to pitch.
  7. According to google, yes he hits lefty. Regardless, I think it's kind of silly to pencil Rutherford into a ML spot at this point. Sox have Rutherford/Gonzalez/Basabe/Adolfo/Walker in the outfield and they will all be at AA or above next year. They're not all staying with the club moving forward.
  8. He's going to see a big uptick in performance when he goes to Charlotte. If I am the Sox, I get him there by the end of the year. Pump the trade value in case.
  9. The Sox dont take players 1-10 unless they know they can sign them. Look for Dalquist to sign for $1.9M-$2.2M by the end of the week.
  10. So inevitably they will call up Escobar instead of Mendick right?
  11. He's one of the only prospects outside of Madrigal/Robert that hasnt either A) got hurt B) struggled (in aggregate) C) graduated.
  12. His peripherals are much better than his ERA would indicate in Kanny. He's a guy to watch.
  13. I never said the Sox are going to sit out the offseason. I’m saying they need to plan to break camp with 12-13 arms that make up a playoff caliber staff and then then they will be insulated with depth when they can add Dunning and Rodon to the staff they broke camp with.
  14. There are almost so many that creates an interesting depth factor for us. Obviously the full recovery for TJS isn’t a guarantee. But with the results and recovery getting better with time, the Sox should be in the position next year and in 2021 where they have to plan to have a full healthy staff for the beginning of the year and then get multiple TJS recipients retuning at points in the season.

Giving a little more thought to this, it seems to me that smaller companies seem to have more of these issues where the larger companies don't really have as much "babysitting." I know my gf's mother left a huge company as she's scaling back and moving towards retirement and has experienced a totally different experience. Then with my clients, sometimes we'll be working til 8-9-10 and our client contacts are out the door by 4. It seems like most of the companies I work with, the personnel has a lot of flexibility outside of a few seasons (reporting periods, quarters, etc.).

Jeez some of these stories make me worried about ever leaving my job. I can kind of do what I want when I want but we're more project or task based (as opposed to having a role with recurring responsibilities). I work with a disproportionate amount of young people too. At the end of the day, the nature of our work kind of holds people accountable. The cons of the job are more in the uncertainty of schedule, being subject to the work of others (both your coworkers and the client) and the hours. I will say I've worked at some clients where I am not sure specific individuals work for 60 minutes in a day.
  17. God forbid Gio or even Nova or Lopez get hurt...they have no depth whatsoever.
  18. Yeah, I don't like the way Law acts publicly sometimes but when he's talking baseball he's a great evaluate. In the past, he was off with his analysis on pitchers but It seems like he has evolved away from bucketing pitchers based on their mechanics. I do have some doubt with his draft reporting because a lot of people don't like him but in terms of just evaluating players - with consideration for of his knowledge operations/labor/etc. - he may be the best.
  19. He has the third best FIP/ERA in the league (qualified pitchers). Get him up. There's no reason to have him down.
  20. He obviously has very limited experience/small sample but his ability to take a walk. He's posted some pretty decent OBPs despite some bad AVGs.
  21. MLB.com has always been the "high publication" on Robert
  22. Sox are going to keep him in AA as long as they possibly can aren't they? I would imagine Hahn wants a reasonable argument to keep him in AAA to start 2020. Playing only month in AAA in 2019 may be that argument. That said, this past offseason, with all the extensions and teams like SD calling up Tatis/Paddock to start the year is an interesting precedent. It'll be interesting.
  23. Frazier sent down. He's a douche but have to feel for the dude. He's put up an 843 OPS and was hitting cleanup as recently as yesterday. Now he's in AAA.
  24. Wheeler doesnt consistently underform his FIP though. In a SSS in 2019 he has. The data supports that.
  25. Either this or a 1/14. No need to offer him the QO. Sox really have the upper hand with him. I think he wants to be here and the market won't value him.
