  1. Also, #6 in profit has plenty to do with the Sox being #29 in payroll in 2018. They're typically profitable, per Forbes, due to their stadium deal among other things, but 2018 will be an outlier year where the payroll was as low as it will ever be in a given year.
  2. If you're going to compare a college draftees A Ball stats to a MLB All Star's stats as if there are is any parallel there I don't know what to tell you. Luis Gonazalez (Sheets' teammate at W-S last year) had a pretty similar slash line to Altuve's stat line last year away from homers. Are they comparable players too?
  3. Sox 2020 Opening Day Lineup C - Acquired Catcher + Veteran backup or Zavala + Collins 1B - Eloy/Collins 2B - Placeholder 3B - Moncada SS - TA OF - Anything goes. Likely the major offseason offensive acquisition is an OF guy. Cordell/Engel/Palka get a chance this year to see if they belong. One or two of Rutherford/Basabe/Gonzalez/Adolfo take a step forward this season and earn a shot. One or two of these guys get traded. I think Basabe takes utility type role playing all OF spots and allowing flexibility with DH & rest days. U DH - Rotating with Collins/Eloy getting majority of the looks. Sox July of 2020 Lineup C - Acquired Catcher/Veteran backup or Zavala/Collins 1B - Eloy/Collins 2B - Madrigal 3B - Moncada SS - TA LF/RF - Anything goes. Likely the major offensive offseason acquisition is an OF guy. Basabe takes utility type role playing all OF spots and allowing flexibility with DH & rest days. CF - Hopefully Robert stays healthy and takes over. LF/RF - Anything goes. Likely the major offensive offseason acquisition is an OF guy. Basabe takes utility type role playing all OF spots and allowing flexibility with DH & rest days. DH - Eloy/Collins/rotate
  4. Comparing Sheets to Rendon is one of the stranger comps I've ever seen.
  5. Who knows how the teams manage service time considerations, the market, extensions, etc. in the not-so-distant future, but I think the Sox came into this season with the belief that Madrigal will play into the starting 2B role in Chicago with the best case scenario coming as him being promoted this time next year. Essentially, right after the service time deadline. In an ideal world for Sox, Madrigal smacks the ball around for the remainder of April and moves to Birmingham in May, is then not challenged in BHam and gets a taste of Charlotte to end the season. 2019 he starts in Charlotte and if he shows well, he quickly displaces whatever placeholder they have at 2B. That's the optimistic take. Obviously Madrigal has to hit and re-find his swing. Robert has far more scenarios possible in his trajectory. First and foremost is just obviously to stay healthy. I think he sees Birmingham soon and if he keeps showing like an absolute freak they Sox will be less likely to promote him as quickly as they will Madrigal. They need to be considering service time scenarios and a more conservative route for a guy with very limited playing experience stateside is very much an actionable plan all things considered.
  6. Robert got paid already coming stateside. Not sure either parties would be interested in an extension at this point. That said, what run this dude is on. We need something exciting.
  7. He campaigned for Kamala Harris in the past. She launched her campaign off of his faux-tragedy.
  8. Cease has elite stuff no doubt. Don’t forget about Dane Dunning. That dude will fight tooth and nail for his spot even if he may be overlooked due to bigger names and his injury. He may be the most complete pitcher even if he doesn’t have the upside of Kopech/Cease.
  9. Her platform was restoring justice after the city bungled the LaQuan Macdonald tragedy. What a joke.
  10. Q the corporate media is awful. Just because you work in media doesn’t mean you have to carry water for it all the time. I’m an accountant and I’m not going to defend Enron and Worldcom as if doing so would validate my career.
  11. CWS is an absolute stud of a poster that we are lucky to have at ST.
  12. Yeah my old man has expressed some of the same sentiment. But you know how it goes, stairs on the way up, elevator on the way down. Just gotta have cash in hand for the down payment when the music stops.
  13. Very cool you're set on moving the family to Nashville man. Everybody loves that place. My folks are also looking to move down there as well. Wait til that RE market gets corrected though! They've had bonanza growth there.
  14. Why did the Sox trade for Nova who makes $8m and moves needle for no one.
  15. I don't see it worthwhile to take personally either.
  16. He failed to mention the grievance of his teammate (which occured when McHugh was with Houston) and the fact that the Astros will inevitably send down the top pitching prospect in baseball in Forrest Whitley (if they haven't already). To single out the Sox specifically when they're subjected to the same rules as everyone else and operating in the same manner as everyone else is questionable.

Wow. Yeah, that's what you would think the government would charge their youth for education loans.

I am aware that people with the same majors have different careers/lives. If you think people don't get their lives ruined by student loans I don't know what to tell you. While they may not leave you with nothing like getting foreclosed on would with mortgage loan, that doesn't mean they're not crippling. It's like you're arguing the cocaine is okay because heroin is worse. It is the same thinking to the housing crisis is what I said. I didn't say the pitfalls are the same. I was using an example and you know that. I wasn't speaking about your career specifically. The current system does not work. If you look at the lowest earning majors Poly Sci is up there. If you would feel comfortable giving an 18 year old loans to get a degree that he/she needs another degree to be successful so be it. I would prefer giving loans to a kid trying to get an engineering degree. But I am trying to look at this in whole as opposed to my specific situation.

So we should all suffer so all the baristas can have a degree while they have anchors of student debt they'll never get out of? This is the exact kind of reckless and supposedly virtuous lending that led to the housing crisis. Making people entitled to things that they will never be able to afford is not helping them.

Whoopdie doo. I am sure the 29-year-old Poly Sci grad making 35k a year can take solace in the education level of the country while they wallow in debt with no foreseeable end as the government benefits off of the decision they made following their prom dance.

This is what I figured. Thanks for confirming. The goods news is you certainly have plenty to gain assuming your credit isn't a mess. I would not recommend going through chase. If you're interested in what I did I can take a look at my folder on my personal computer and send you some notes when I get home. PM me if you're interested. In the mean time, if you have one dollar over the your standard monthly autopay make sure it is going to the the highest interest rate in the Navient account. You've repeatedly replied to another poster saying "complete nonsense" and then post the bolded. The government is making money off of the young people in this country. It is not an investment, it is a cash grab that has lead to tuition prices skyrocketing as a result of them skewing the supply and demand for college. If you're a home owner, do you think the bank that processed your mortgage invested in you?
