  1. Huh? Moncada's glove grades out exceptionally well. Yoan is a wizard at 3B. Moving him off 3B to put a lesser defender there and downgrading two defensive positions on a team that is poor defensively is.....quite a take. Yoan's contract is very bad. He has no trade value. He is, however, an exceptionally talented player that does a ton of things well that this team is very poor at. He also has significant untapped potential. Let's at least ride out 2023 with the new coaching staff and see what it does for Yoan. I am expecting a very different player (and attitude).
  2. I am still not buying this $180M is the hard limit. I sure JR would love to see it shake out that way, but I doubt its a hard and fast limit. Also, Sox payroll including Clevinger's full $12M and counting the already paid buyouts as 2022 commitments, the current payroll is $168,900,000. Even if $180M is the hard limit, they should have $11M to spend. Obviously more if Hendriks is traded.
  3. I think it is also important enough to note that in Fegans latest article covering Liam coming up on trade talks, he specifically noted that the reports he has heard are that other teams are asking about Liam versus the Sox actively trying to trade him.
  4. See things are bright and chipper in here this am
  5. They won’t pay up for him. But paying Rodon $30M to make a handful of starts for them would be crushing to that franchise. But yeah, he’s nasty when he pitches.
  6. Id love to see the Twins back to the brinks trunk for Rodon. Los is a dude, but his next deal is going to be an awful one.
  7. Diaz is better and younger. That’s why I projected he’d get 63% of what Diaz got. But the fact that there are no premium relievers on that FA market AND Liam’s contract is extremely reasonable, he should have a good bit of value. I wouldn’t trade him myself, but the value should be there.
  8. Agreed now is not the right time to sell TA for many of the reasons stated. He would still return FAR more than a back end top 100 prospect + some “minor throw in piece”. That’s crazy talk.
  9. It’s not tho. Some scrub reliever just got 2/$14M from LA. Diaz, the closest comp to Liam, got 5/$102. Liam would smash 2/$29M if he was a FA. At least 4/$65M range. He should have plenty of surplus value.
  10. Well, there are no elite closers available and one Carlos Esteves just got $14M guaranteed across 2 years, so there very well may be a long line of suitors for Liam.
  11. Bleh. Really don’t like the idea but if the return is good enough I guess….very much one step backwards, to hopefully take one step forward (use the $ towards a real OF) type move.
  12. 2/$13.5M for a pretty meh reliever. Arms are not cheap.
  13. It makes absolutely no sense. I think he’s mad people are “blocking” his dream of acquiring James Outman.
  14. What’s the chances that each one of them is @Orlandoand @adammaloney just echo chambering themselves? I’ll go with 99%.
  15. They need at least two OFs. Colas is 1.
  16. If the Sox salary dump Yoan, I think I would lose all faith in the direction of the Sox. From a player profile standpoint, Sox need more guys like Moncada, not less.
  17. I think Brantley would be a perfectly acceptable 2nd move, like you suggested. If you bring in Conforto + Brantley or Gallo + Brantley, it makes much more sense because if/when Brantley gets hurt, now you have Colas to fill the gap. If Brantley is the primary addition, he's like option #6 or #7 for me. I also would be shocked if the Sox signed two FA OF to deals > $10M AAV.
  18. Yes. I hate Tony with a passion. He was quite literally as bad as possible. I am convinced some middle school baseball coach with a decent knowledge of the roster could have done a better job managing the team. Was not meant as defending Tony in the slightest.
  19. He has already said he wants to just release Grandal. Just dumping Grandal makes little sense unless you can offload more than a few million of his deal on someone else. If you're paying Grandal $18.25 (or close) regardless, you may as well bring him into ST and see if he can be productive and healthy as a part time player. While you can never put too much stock in offseason puff pieces, it does sound like his knees are doing better and he's working hard on getting healthy.
