  1. Curious decision, to be sure. Sox seem to benefit, for now. Will be curious to see their reasoning that the beat writer alluded to.
  2. Clase has pitched in 5 of this last 6 games and 8/10. That is definitely unsustainable. I was referring to lately, which is far more relevant than what happened early in the season at this juncture.
  3. Big 6'6 righty with a 4.24 ERA across 21 starts in AA/AAA this season. 11.7 K/9, 1.13 WHIP. Made one previous start for the Guardians this year pitching 3.1 with 8 ER (2 K / 2 BB) against Houston in early August.
  4. If they aren't going to play Robert, they need to get Payton the MLB roster and let him back 8th or 9th. I understand Hahn's take on not ILing Robert. You don't want to lose him for 10 days if he only needs 5. But yeah, he's just not useful at the plate right now. Really no one on the roster to cut/option though if you're not ILing Robert.
  5. Alternatively, doing everything we can to minimize Eloy's injuries makes sense. Not letting him play the OF does just that. We also avoid Eloy getting in the way of Robert, TA and Moncada defensively and hurting them, too. Eloy is perhaps a marginally better OF than AV. But he's not good. Sox need him in the middle of the lineup hitting homers and driving in runs. Even moreso next season when one of Pito/AV are gone. Sox need to to flank Robert with real OFs next season. Sign a RF (Nimmo makes most sense), let Pollock play LF until Colas arrives a month or so into the season, and then platoon the two thereafter. Pollock then becomes injury insurance for all of the OF, and Sheets is in AAA waiting for Eloy to get hurt. All of Eloy, AV and Sheets should only play the OF occasionally after this season.
  6. 40% of Cleveland’s current rotation is Konnor Pilkington and Cody Morris. McKenzie has already eclipsed his career high in IP by 25 innings, and Quantrill has also passed his career high already and made 18 pen appearances last year. So yes, Cleveland is very much in that spot already, Not soon. Not to mention Francona is using his best pen arms nearly every night which also isn’t sustainable.
  7. Yeah, makes it so Cease, Lynn and Gio all go against Cleveland next week.
  8. That’s be Cleveland going 5-1 against Halos and Twins coming up. Gotta hope the Twins can at least get 2/5. Need help from them, and ideally Angels tomorrow.
  9. I’ll enjoy it. This is what it’s all about. Hope to be happy at the end.
  10. This is a game we lost earlier in the season. Couple dozen of em, at least.
  11. What happens in game 8 vs. CLE, assuming game 7 is a loss.
  12. Absolutely have to get rid of Abreu, in fact. And he doesn’t have many bigger fans than I.
  13. Sox have to win 3/4 vs Cleveland and go 11-6 or better in their other 17 games if Cleveland goes 10-10 or worse rest of season against non Sox teams. It’s doable, but it absolutely starts with sweeping Rox, beating Cleveland Thursday and getting at worse 2/3 in Detroit this weekend. Then you at least control your destiny with 3 at home vs. Cleveland next week with the chance to pass them.
  14. You’re paying him regardless. He’s a major league player and quite useful on a roster full of dudes that can’t stay healthy. There is O% chance he is DFAd, and it would be a god awful move.
  15. Why in the world would you DFA pollock? Makes no sense. You’re paying him anyway and he absolutely rakes LHP, is a perfect Colas platoon partner and great injury insurance for the roster.
  16. JRam plays so loose. It’s incredible. Such a cool ball player.
  17. Franconia just abusing Clase lately. Gotta catch up at some point.
  18. Yes. Its also 3 games (4 with tie breaker that we haven't lost just yet), not 5 games.
