  1. I hope it’s something else but struggle to think what the other roster move could be unless Luis didn’t tell them he was leaving for his kid until yesterday. But in that case sort of doubt Payton would have played yesterday. So it’s prob Eloy.
  2. This is not the way things work. And no one else will play Eloy in the OF more than the Sox have.
  3. Hopefully not a sign that Eloy is actually hurt. Not a whole lot else makes sense assuming this is legit, unfortunately.
  4. I really highly doubt we see Colas until late April 23.
  5. I mean what are they gonna say? You stick a mic in their face and ask about Tony you really think the staff and players are gonna be like “Hope Tony is alright, but fuckina man he’s awful at his job. This is a blessing in disguise!”? I mean cmon.
  6. Rolling gamethread it is…. Gray v. Martin. 710CT first pitch. Tough matchup. Boys are gonna need to score early and often. Can’t win 10 in a row if you don’t win 3 in a row…call me crazy, but the boys showed some life the last 2 days. Something must have changed…
  7. Mods, updates may have resulted in ability to start a new thread. Won’t let me post tomorrows game thread. I get an error message.
  8. Potentially eliminated 33% of the deficit in 6% of the games remaining….crazier things have happened. I told myself I wouldn’t let them pull me back in but another 1 or 2 in a row and I got not shot.
  9. Well, never say never…let’s eat some Twinkies this weekend.
  10. He sure has. Payton actually has an option too. I was thinking maybe they went with Haseley since he can be optioned and they're just going to return him to AAA when Yoan returns, and perhaps if a need arises in the OF later in the month they'd go with Payton. In that case wouldn't make much sense to bring up Payton for 1 start or something over the next 4 games and then DFA on Monday. But nope. Not that DFAing Payton is some loss; there is basically no chance he is in this org next season. I am sure he'd suck if given another big league chance. But as you said, why would a solid AAAA player sign with the Sox if they do nothing but earn a spot all season in AAA and still don't get the call in order to hoard guys on the 40 man that are certain to be removed in November? Hard to make it make sense.
  11. Hahaha, I nailed it. God forbid we give a guy in Mark Payton who has done nothing but earn it in AAA, in order to save the 40 man roster spot of 2-3 relievers who will never step foot in the Chicago clubhouse again. Fucking unbelievable. I am sure Payton would suck, but we already know Haseley sucks and Payton has measurably outplayed him in AAA. In any event, Haseley goes right back to Charlotte on Monday when Yoan returns.
  12. And I've said that's a fair opinion. To be clear, I fully expect Jose Abreu to be wearing a White Sox uni next season. Meanwhile, the Sox will either continue to punt defense and lineup balance or they trade AV for a similar control SP and we watch AV turn into one of the best hitting 1B in the league the next half decade while Abreu falls off a cliff, and we get like 50 starts out of said SP. Just because there are reasons to not trust the Sox to make these decisions the right way doesn't mean they should just avoid the problem and hope it magically disppears. Jose Abreu can still hit; that's obvious. But he's probably a good bet to regress in his age 36 and 37 season, and despite his great bat and decent glove, he's the genesis of the what is wrong with this team defensively because he forces other players to play out of position. Its not really his fault, but its the reality of the situation.
  13. Yeah I get it. I guess I just operate under the assumption that these guys aren’t that dumb even tho history suggests otherwise. If a commercial banker can see that another DH would be asinine add, I would hope a Harvard educated seasoned GM could as well. It’s just not that hard.
  14. I give less than zero fucks about Eloys opinions. He has not earned the right to choose where he plays. Does Eloy want to be a big leaguer? Then DH. I am not saying you burn his OF glove, but he needs to be the primary DH.
  15. If you actually have OFs on the roster that are better fits to play the OF (Nimmo and Colas) and competent management, sure they can.
  16. I mean, this organization is also not in a position to continue to punt OF defense, athleticism and lineup balance. Look where that gets us!!! Nimmo is a way better roster fit than Jose. We have a guy who is already a comparable hitter to Jose than plays his position and is a decade+ younger. Let’s not let emotions get in the way here.
  17. You apparently, since you logged into a Sox message board and entered a winner thread.
