  1. Hahaha, I nailed it. God forbid we give a guy in Mark Payton who has done nothing but earn it in AAA, in order to save the 40 man roster spot of 2-3 relievers who will never step foot in the Chicago clubhouse again. Fucking unbelievable. I am sure Payton would suck, but we already know Haseley sucks and Payton has measurably outplayed him in AAA. In any event, Haseley goes right back to Charlotte on Monday when Yoan returns.
  2. And I've said that's a fair opinion. To be clear, I fully expect Jose Abreu to be wearing a White Sox uni next season. Meanwhile, the Sox will either continue to punt defense and lineup balance or they trade AV for a similar control SP and we watch AV turn into one of the best hitting 1B in the league the next half decade while Abreu falls off a cliff, and we get like 50 starts out of said SP. Just because there are reasons to not trust the Sox to make these decisions the right way doesn't mean they should just avoid the problem and hope it magically disppears. Jose Abreu can still hit; that's obvious. But he's probably a good bet to regress in his age 36 and 37 season, and despite his great bat and decent glove, he's the genesis of the what is wrong with this team defensively because he forces other players to play out of position. Its not really his fault, but its the reality of the situation.
  3. Yeah I get it. I guess I just operate under the assumption that these guys aren’t that dumb even tho history suggests otherwise. If a commercial banker can see that another DH would be asinine add, I would hope a Harvard educated seasoned GM could as well. It’s just not that hard.
  4. I give less than zero fucks about Eloys opinions. He has not earned the right to choose where he plays. Does Eloy want to be a big leaguer? Then DH. I am not saying you burn his OF glove, but he needs to be the primary DH.
  5. If you actually have OFs on the roster that are better fits to play the OF (Nimmo and Colas) and competent management, sure they can.
  6. I mean, this organization is also not in a position to continue to punt OF defense, athleticism and lineup balance. Look where that gets us!!! Nimmo is a way better roster fit than Jose. We have a guy who is already a comparable hitter to Jose than plays his position and is a decade+ younger. Let’s not let emotions get in the way here.
  7. You apparently, since you logged into a Sox message board and entered a winner thread.
  8. Except AV is a good bet to be close to as good as Abreu and you don’t have to ruin his value by sticking him in The OF, and he costs 1/30 as much as Abreu will. It also opens DH for Eloy and frees ~$15M AAV to sign a real OF that helps other team needs. Look, I love Jose Abreu. Build him a statue. I don’t think the org will let him walk. But they absolutely should.
  9. He should play somewhere in IF damn near everyday rest of way.
  10. The calls for Lance being cooked may have been a tad premature
  11. Hopefully soon so we don’t have to worry about him returning anymore. I hope Tony is alright, but this is the most excited I’ve been about the Sox in a while. Tony was awful in every way imaginable and this clubs future is much brighter without him around.
  12. And then sign another SP for more that is probably not any better? You trade Gio, you have to replace him.
  13. Including this year? If so, Conforto is high AF if he rejected that.
  14. I literally just said what I'd do in the post you quoted..... I'd let Abreu walk. All three don't work on the same roster. Its abundandly clear at this point. Trading Eloy for a dime on the dollar just to watch him hit 40 homers elsewhere next year? Yeah, i'll pass.
  15. Yeah, see I am not giving Eloy away. He's worth more to the Sox than anyone else. What I am doing with him is making him the everyday DH and making it such that Gavin Sheets isn't penciled in as an everyday player so when Eloy only play 100 games, we have a built in replacement. Giving up on Eloy makes 0 sense. Just let the dude who is actually a FA and is the root cause of the awful team defense exit the picture before his production actually catches up to his age.
  16. Rosters expand by 2. Its not going to be some large number of newcomers tomorrow. Foster will be 1. Bummer will be back next week. Yoan should be back next week. I hope they give Mark Payton the 2nd spot, but its highly likely to go to someone on the 40 man because god forbid we lose the services of Yoan Ayabar or Anderson Severino. So I am expecting Haseley until Yoan is back.
  17. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2022/08/31/tony-la-russa-white-sox-manager-out-health-heart-tests/7952912001/ For what its worth, Boob's article says it was a heart issue flagged yesterday from a recent visit to the cardiologist and further tests today indicated that he needed additional testing and headed home to AZ to get that done.
  18. Sure. Again, I’m not here to debate that AJP is best option. He’s not. I just think his fire would be a welcome change from the current regime that has zero and has left us with a boring lifeless club. I am not familiar enough with how the guys on this club likes or respects Pierzynski to comment on that. But what I do know is what they’re doing currently is not working.
  19. He’s the opposite of Ventura. I respect the opinion tho. I’d prefer a legit managerial hire like they should have done with Hinch 2 years ago. But if it’s gotta be a former player because that’s the way the Sox do business, I like AJPs fire for this club. Ventura was a bump on a log.
  20. If the Sox go in some amazing run to finish the season that starts after a 2-9 stretch immediately before TLRs “health problems”, there is simply no way he’s coming back.
  21. We tend to generally be on the same page on things. If you keep Abreu, what do you do with Eloy and AV?
  22. Now that TLR is out of the way, can we root for a 15 game win streak now? ?
  23. There is no fucking way man.
