  1. Except AV is a good bet to be close to as good as Abreu and you don’t have to ruin his value by sticking him in The OF, and he costs 1/30 as much as Abreu will. It also opens DH for Eloy and frees ~$15M AAV to sign a real OF that helps other team needs. Look, I love Jose Abreu. Build him a statue. I don’t think the org will let him walk. But they absolutely should.
  2. He should play somewhere in IF damn near everyday rest of way.
  3. The calls for Lance being cooked may have been a tad premature
  4. Hopefully soon so we don’t have to worry about him returning anymore. I hope Tony is alright, but this is the most excited I’ve been about the Sox in a while. Tony was awful in every way imaginable and this clubs future is much brighter without him around.
  5. And then sign another SP for more that is probably not any better? You trade Gio, you have to replace him.
  6. Including this year? If so, Conforto is high AF if he rejected that.
  7. I literally just said what I'd do in the post you quoted..... I'd let Abreu walk. All three don't work on the same roster. Its abundandly clear at this point. Trading Eloy for a dime on the dollar just to watch him hit 40 homers elsewhere next year? Yeah, i'll pass.
  8. Yeah, see I am not giving Eloy away. He's worth more to the Sox than anyone else. What I am doing with him is making him the everyday DH and making it such that Gavin Sheets isn't penciled in as an everyday player so when Eloy only play 100 games, we have a built in replacement. Giving up on Eloy makes 0 sense. Just let the dude who is actually a FA and is the root cause of the awful team defense exit the picture before his production actually catches up to his age.
  9. Rosters expand by 2. Its not going to be some large number of newcomers tomorrow. Foster will be 1. Bummer will be back next week. Yoan should be back next week. I hope they give Mark Payton the 2nd spot, but its highly likely to go to someone on the 40 man because god forbid we lose the services of Yoan Ayabar or Anderson Severino. So I am expecting Haseley until Yoan is back.
  10. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2022/08/31/tony-la-russa-white-sox-manager-out-health-heart-tests/7952912001/ For what its worth, Boob's article says it was a heart issue flagged yesterday from a recent visit to the cardiologist and further tests today indicated that he needed additional testing and headed home to AZ to get that done.
  11. Sure. Again, I’m not here to debate that AJP is best option. He’s not. I just think his fire would be a welcome change from the current regime that has zero and has left us with a boring lifeless club. I am not familiar enough with how the guys on this club likes or respects Pierzynski to comment on that. But what I do know is what they’re doing currently is not working.
  12. He’s the opposite of Ventura. I respect the opinion tho. I’d prefer a legit managerial hire like they should have done with Hinch 2 years ago. But if it’s gotta be a former player because that’s the way the Sox do business, I like AJPs fire for this club. Ventura was a bump on a log.
  13. If the Sox go in some amazing run to finish the season that starts after a 2-9 stretch immediately before TLRs “health problems”, there is simply no way he’s coming back.
  14. We tend to generally be on the same page on things. If you keep Abreu, what do you do with Eloy and AV?
  15. Now that TLR is out of the way, can we root for a 15 game win streak now? ?
  16. There is no fucking way man.
  17. Hope Tony is alright, but also hope his days of any affiliation with this organization are over. Its for the best for all parties.
  18. Managing an MLB team shouldn't really be that hard. I just want someone younger and with fire. I'd prefer they do a legit search as well, but if AJP wanted the job, I think he'd be a fantastic fit. He's not a Sox lifer by any stretch and the dude is fiery as AF. I'd bet my bottom dollar these dudes would play hard for him; the nonchalant no hustle days would be gone immediately. What I don't want is some over the hill old goat. We need a younger voice that is in tune with the current game.
  19. IDK, maybe a little bit? Don't see how Renteria is relevant at this point. Again, don't really see any good reason they Sox would hand Cairo the job short of the people just basically thinking they'll make the dumbest decision possible. I get it, but I think Jirschele or even Pierzynski are more likely than Cairo if we actually do get a new manager. That all said, while Cairo would be a poor hire, I'd prefer him 10000000000000000x to TLR.
  20. Why would they give Cairo the job permanently? He's a tony guy, has no ties to the organization, isn't a JR buddy and certainly wouldn't be Hahn's choice. I think its fair to have concerns about the Sox not doing their full due diligence on a new manager (if we get one), but I highly doubt they just had the job to Cairo if TLR "steps down" or is "promoted".
  21. I love Jose, but his numbers are indeed a bit hollow this season.
  22. There is really no sceneries where retaining AV, Abreu and Eloy is a smart. We’ve seen enough dogshit defense havent we? Let’s get three actual OFs in the OF next season. Definitely agree on doing what we can to relegate Sheets to AAA depth tho! He’s got an option left next season; he’ll get plenty of mlb opportunities regardless. Anderson SS, Nimmo RF, Robert CF, Eloy DH, Vaughn 1B, Moncada 3B, Colas LF, Grandal/Seby C, one of the internal 2B BN: Seby/Grandal, Pollock, Engel, Leury That should be the goal for the May offensive roster. Sheets can be on the roster until Colas arrives late April. That team is so so so much better defneisfelt in the OF, has more speed, has more lineup balance, has more athleticism. And it really doesn’t require much additions other than to stop playing guys out of position. This entire plan doesn’t work with Pito around, unless you trade AV.
  23. Also, regarding Gavin: great game last night, but his god awful OF defense still was the difference in the game. What the Sox are doing to their pitchers in the OF is simply unacceptable.
  24. I don't think there is anything easy about trading AV. I am open to it because I know the org will have a very hard time moving on from Jose, and there is no way to balance AV/Eloy/Jose on this roster. But I really struggle to come up with a good fit for an AV trade. I don't want to trade him for SP. A similar aged/controlled LH hitting middle infielder would be a great target. Someone like Andres Gimenez, but that intra-division swap is never going to happen. Maybe the Brian Reynolds swap as cheaper alternative contractually to Nimmo, and go internal at 2B between Sosa/Romy/Mendick/Leury at 2B. Trading AV is going to hurt, especially if he takes off with his new club while we watch the inevitable father time hit Jose while likely paying him more than he's worth.
