Yeah, I mean I'd be cool with Quintana type if he's cheap just so we can skip/control Kopech's innings a bit down the stretch. He's currently on pace for ~140 IP in the regular season, which is probably a little high.
But yeah, not a huge priority IMO.
Well it sounds like a handful of teams are interested, so you're going to have to give up something.
A low level pitching prospect rated between 20-30 in a bottom 5 farm system in the game that is widely considered pretty terrible after the top 15 or so isn't very much.
But yeah, I mean I'd acquire him for less if possible.
I cannot for the life of me believe the that the FO is still buying into whatever the fuck it is Menechino is preaching. Its impossible that they're as dumb as they look at times. For whatever reason they're clearly going to let Frank keep his job thru this season, but he's on the first plane out of Chicago thereafter. No way he's not fired, so I cannot imagine Hahn and KW give two fucks about his opinion.
My guesses:
Gallo, Givens and Matt Moore.
Best guesses at returns:
Joey Gallo +$1M for Kohl Simas
Givens for Jason Bilous + Seby Zavala
Matt Moore for Luis Mieses
I just don't think this team should be prioritizing Montas, or SP in general. A good left handed OF and RP is a far, far, far bigger need than a 6th above average SP.
Its funny cause you'd probably rip them if they sat pat, rip them if they make a big move, rip them if they made a small move. Let's be real, no matter what the Sox do, you'll rip it.
I doubt he’s a major leaguer but I’ve enjoyed following Payton this season. Dude plays everyday and has gotten the job done. I know September rosters aren’t as expanded as they used to be, but fuckina, depending on how the roster looks at that point I’d give him a 40 man spot over some of the trash relievers that somehow are still on it.
Could be taken both ways - he’s back because he’s rejoining the club, or more likely he’s back getting further tests and would need to return to his rehab assignment before being activated.
Perhaps, but he does a lot to help it next season and it’s possible he’ll be ready in September. I also have absolutely zero interest in discussing Conforto further with you.
Yeah, frankly I don’t really even think a SP is necessary. Wouldn’t hurt especially someone like Mahle who is around next year to take Cuetos spot, but we’re in agreement that a left handed stick that can actually hit is more important.
