  1. And the bolded is precisely why a change in the dugout needs to be made. I agree TLR probably stays the manager through the season, but you cant ignore the clear narrative change the last week or so. Tony has legitimately no one left in his corner besides JR.
  2. You simply cannot give up on Eloy. He is due $10.3M next season, hardly a crippling sum. You just have to hope he can focus on getting in shape over the winter, stay healthy and a new hitting coach unlocks his potential. Its still in there offensively. Trading him for legit pennies on the dollar makes no sense. He needs to be the DH tho, which means Abreu probably has to go.
  3. Ehhh....I don't think its unreasonable to expect all the players you just listed that are under control for 2023 (Yas, Yoan, Eloy, Lynn, Kelly and even Leury) to be better in 2023 than they have YTD in 2022. Wil they all earn their contracts in 23? Unlikely, but I wouldn't be shy to wager they'll all produce positive fWAR in 2023. So while the overarching point is still valid - plenty of poorly allocated dollars - really none of these guys are killing the Sox unless 2022 version of Yas is who we get moving forward. Even Lynn has been FAR better than his numbers indicate.
  4. Yeah honestly another body just gives Tony more options to fuck with. Obviously playing a man short isn’t ideal, but Haseley shouldn’t be playing over Engel, Pollock, Sheets or AV anyway. Plus Tony probably gonna get Leury a start or two in LF.
  5. He wouldn’t and shouldn’t play over the options on the current roster anyway.
  6. Yep. Mostly back to flailing at sliders out of the zone and chopping the hittable pitches into the ground. Would love to see a full season of healthy Eloy with a new hitting coach, but there just isn’t much of a chance of that happening at this point.
  7. My guess is he’s fine. It didn’t look too bad. Perhaps he’ll sit out this weekend but I’m sure he’ll be fine post ASG. Not that his inclusion in the lineup has been a net positive.
  8. There is no point for the Sox to trade him. Just hope he decides to work hard this offseason.
  9. Far from an “albatross”. Not ideal if he can’t play more than a month a season but it’s not really not that bad.
  10. Because apparently they care about Eloys feelings. Stupid AF. Tho he is a ticking time bomb anyway. If it was today, it’d be a at some point in the near future anyway. Sucks but truthfully any positive contributions we get from Eloy during 23 and 24 are gravy and the club needs to proceed as such.
  11. This has been a delightful 48 hours in terms of public skewering of TLR. Absolutely love it. Still don't think Tony gets fired (you can call it a promotion if you'd like, whatever), but feels more realistic than ever he won't finish the year as the manager. I fucking hate waiting until the ASB tho. These next 5 games before the ASB are absolutely critical to getting back into this thing. If they do under Tony's watch, it feels like it could be enough to sway old man Jerry into hanging on.
  12. Lol oh my. That should be appointment viewing.
  13. Montoyo gets fired, but Tony keeps his job. Makes sense.
  14. If anything, he is pulling out of the box too late.
  15. He may be. But my guess is he’s heard it’s at least on the table. Pretty confident statement.
  16. Go back and watch Hahn’s press conference announcing TLR and decide for yourself.
  17. That is precisely the reason why you make a change in the dugout now. Its already probably too late and it should have been done in May. But now is better than November.
