  1. Probably time they change that guidance if they want any chance of meaningful baseball this fall.
  2. Weather.com suggests Sox should have a window to play, but lots of talk on twitter about this one potentially getting bagged.
  3. well that's not ideal for the Sox. I'd much rather face Archer. Hopefully this means we get Archer tomorrow instead of Ryan.
  4. Again, ignoring half of the league's player pool over a couple of poor signings (and truly, that is all it is), is absolutely insane. NL to White Sox doesn't mean you suck. Signing shitty players that are towards the end of their career that provide little value outside of their bat is why this has been an issue for the Sox. But carry on with this crazy thought process if you wish.
  5. So your suggestion is to ignore half of major league baseball due to some silly occurrence that has happened with a few aging players? Brilliant strategy! Plus, Yaz was more than worth his contract in the first 2 seasons so that one doesn't really even hold true. Its really just an Adam Dunn and Adam LaRoache problem. Sign players that do more than just hit (like Nimmo) and it won't be as big of an issue even if there is some adjustment period to the new league.
  6. That really has no bearing on things whatsoever. Nimmo would be a huge step in solving this team's problems.
  7. I'd use the $ towards signing Brandon Nimmo. Realistically, Jose will be back if he wants to play here though assuming JR is still around come December. It is hard to say this team would be better without Jose - I truly don't believe that - but the team is so much better defensively and lineup-balance wise if he's gone. Spend that $ on Nimmo, move AV to 1st (can still play some LF on days when they wanna get Sheets in lineup) and move Eloy to DH fulltime. Anderson SS, Moncada 3B, Robert CF, AV 1B/LF, Eloy DH, Yaz C, Pollock LF, Nimmo RF, Harrison/Leury 2B (would hope they'd improve there, but won't hold my breath with the team option) BN: Leury/Harrison, Sheets, Engel, McGuire/Perez Team defense improves pretty drastically and much more balance in the the lineup. I think Pollock is probably back next year because he's unlikely to opt out on his end for 1/$10-12M, and with the $5M buyout, if the net cost is $5-7M for 1 year, I think Sox keep him around, which is probably fine.
  8. Win the next 2 vs. the Twinkies; take 3 of 4 from DET. 43-41 at the end of the week, likely no worse than 3 GB. Tall task, but gotta start making progress sooner rather than later.
  9. I don't think we'll be seeing Gavin Sheets play full games in RF now that Engel is back, so not sure I agree here. Engel was likely coming into the game regardless.
  10. He was out. He beat the throw but his leg was curled up under him instead of extended. A headfirst slide and he was safe easily.
  11. Yeah, I mean I guess that's what happens when 60%+ your lineup is or has been hurt and/or having career worst years. But Tony gives away so much on the margins that frankly this team just has no room for with how they've played. The move I am referring to is pretty small and frankly I missed it live, but it was highly likely the difference between a win and a loss.
  12. You’re certainly not dead with 1 out of 3. But winning the next 2 is extremely important.
  13. Archer is averaging 4 innings per start and has only gone 5 three times. I think he’s only surpassed 80 pitches one time this season. His last start he walked the world. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him go 6 with Sox offensive tendencies, but they need to be patient with him.
  14. It doesn’t make a lot of sense. If you’re gonna pinch run him after Yoans single, why not beforehand? TLR makes so many small mistakes throughout a game that just pile up.
  15. This was mentioned in the GT, but if Tony pinch runs Engel for Sheets right away Engel is at 3B on Yoan's single and none of this happens and Sox win game 3-2, at least.
  16. Probably as close to a must win one can find themselves in on July 5th.
  17. Great point on not pinch running for Sheets right away. More TLR incompetence that yet again cost us a game.
  18. This. K zone was very pro Twins tonight. I live in MN so had to watch Twins telecast and it was blatant. Sure Jason and Steve mentioned as well.
  19. That one hurts. Next 2 must wins, tbh. Game should have been a comfy lead for Sox after 7.
  20. Brutal inning. Not sure there is anyone I’d prefer to see in there over Kelly without the benefit of hindsight. Guy just has to do better. Can’t walk 2 dudes. Gotta get the next 2.
