  1. Hope Getz's press availability - if he has one - is better covered than the last one.
  2. I would say a 4/$70M deal would be fairly notable, at least for the Sox. Off the cuff, I believe that would be the 3rd largest guaranteed contract in White Sox history. Obvious its all relative with the Sox. Its probably pretty much set in stone that JR isn't going to spend that kind of $ on a pitcher, any the top of the FA class for position players is Soto, Bregman, Alonso (maybe Bellinger), and then a pretty stark drop off. I wouldn't be totally shocked if only 4-5 position players cleared that kind of money next offseason. I doubt the Sox will be one of the teams that make those signings.
  3. How can watching Martin Maldonado not bum you out? A toddler would only have 6 less hits. I am not unconvinced a middle of the road high school player would have similar offensive results.
  4. Still chuckling about the victory lap his biggest fan took here after a 2 hit game. He's been awful offensively, awful defensively, and the Sox pitching is bottom 5 in the league in pretty much every category. Tough to discern what exactly he is accomplishing. If he's such a great guy to have around, make him a coach. That said, Sox don't really have anyone else to plug in until Stassi returns from injury (and his 60 days are up end of month), so best case scenario we still have a few weeks of watching him look helpless.
  5. Fair enough - I don't see Robert moving this coming offseason. But I do think Getz will be more willing to listen. The Sox would be hard pressed not to make any notable signings this offseason, though. Their payroll could be sub $50M without signing anyone.
  6. Yes, but he does need a 26 man spot and Remillard is the obvious guy to go down. Suppose they could option him until the spot is needed, but point remains.
  7. I think Remy was the choice simply because he’s an easy DFA when Mendick comes back in a few days. Don’t really think you can demote Ramos just yet based on his SSS.
  8. I’d say Robert is fair game by next July and that’s a pretty significant asset to trade.
  9. Bummer is a pretty good pitcher. But he's paid like one too. The Sox did fine in this trade.
  10. This. Soroka was a worthwhile gamble on for a bad team that needed MLB pitching. He's been terrible, but it was good process. Had he shown glimpes of his early-career self, that is a very nice trade chip. Just didn't work out that way. Shuster and Shewmake were perfectly reasonable secondary pieces to take back, and Gowens was a fine longer term tertiary piece. Lopez was questionable, but obviously we all know the Sox 2B history, and even though his arb figure is about $2M too much, he was also a fine enough bounceback candidate and he can play some D. He can't hit a lick, but his defense does make him a major league. But he'll be a no brainer non-contender for 2025 at the current arb price.
  11. Sure. Getting a guy who might contribute to the Sox bullpen yet this season for Grossman is a win. Wonder who gets the newly opened roster spot.
  12. I feel like we have be near the end of the road with Soroka. He’s been terrible and it doesn’t appear he’s close. His stuff won’t play in the pen. It was a worthwhile gamble, but you’re just not going to be able to turn him into a meaningful trade asset at this point.
  13. To be fair, the Sox weren’t exactly trading a major asset. Bummer was horrific last year and hasn’t been much better in 24. He’s currently sporting a 1.7 WHIP. I still think the idea behind the trade was solid.
  14. Brett Phillips did not play for the Sox.
  15. Sox won’t release Moncada during the season. He is one of the few actual big leaguers on this roster. He is also not tradable. In the unlikely scenario where Ramos grabs ahold of 3B in the next two months, they’d probably move Yoan around the diamond for the rest of the season. It’s just tough to do that because he’s far and away the best defensive 3B in the org.
  16. My guess is Mendick is hurt and they don’t want to call up Sosa again and therefore Ramos is really the only 40 man option. I bet he’s only up for a couple days until Getz can acquire another 32+ year old looking for a job.
  17. I honestly couldn't have more confidence that he'd be a better manager, and I know absolutely nothing about Sizemore post playing career. But he was a great player, is young, is likeable, seems like he could connect with the players. This roster is bad, but I just don't get the lame duck BS with Pedro. Everything he has preached hasn't worked or come to fruition. Quite the oppose in fact. If you don't want to pay for a new manager, just give the job to Sizemore. You're paying him anyway. I'd like that way more than Montoyo - let him stay in his role.
  18. Pretty sure Keller literally walked the first two batters he faced the other night.
  19. Give Grady Sizemore the job. Because why the hell not.
  20. I’ve seen enough DeJong. Send him to the moon. If he can’t field his position he is worthless.
