  1. There is pretty much no chance the Sox cut bait with Yaz catching regularly when he returns unless he physically can’t do it. Nor should they imo unless he comes back and sucks just as bad as before for the rest of the season. With a year of control left, gotta hope he finds 75% of the player he was less than 12 months ago when returning from the IL. It’s not like the other options are fantastic. Hard to say Seby hasn’t earned some PT right now, but there is still some time to see that normalize before a decision is needed.
  2. Pretty tough to carry 2 non catcher bench players with 26 man rosters. Not sure that is realistic for any more than a few days. Sounds like Yaz should be in rehab later this week, and back within 10-14 days.
  3. It is a bit of a conundrum but you probably have to keep Rees. He’s an ideal backup because he’s great at controlling the running game and is a pretty good all around catcher. Seby has been fantastic and clearly Tony likes him, but it’s a SSS and with a larger one last year he got exposed both offensively and defensively. His BABIP is also unsustainable and he’s 29. Seby less likely to get claimed than Rees imo, but he’d have to accept assignment to Charlotte since he’s been previously outrighted which he probably isn’t gonna do. In any event, I’m not too worried about because you still have Perez who is probably better than both longer term.

Have we heard any real update on Yaz recently? Is he nearing a return?
  5. O’s probably like the 4th or 5th best team left on the Sox schedule. It’s that weak. Around half of our remaining schedule is against the dregs of the MLB. But yeah…gotta make hay and Sox haven’t to this point against anyone but Det.
  6. I agree but Sox don’t need more DHs. They should have acquired a real OF that hit LH not those 2. We saw how awful Pederson is in the OF this weekend.
  7. Yeah I mean Burger has hardly played since Yoan came up. AV being unable to play OF right now is certainly part of that. But may as well being Eloy up. Eloy, Engel and Hendriks up with Burger, Haseley and Lambert optioned.
  8. 23.5 year old with an .850 ops in A+ ball? Yeah…I’d say he’s due for a promotion to AA.
  9. Back to the original topic, hopefully Sox move Colas up to AA this week. Social media hissy fit aside, he’s earned it.
  10. Hendriks and Engel for sure today. Maybe Eloy. Yaz should be soon as well but doubtful today.
  11. Sox should really try to get Touki Toussiant and throw him in the pen. Just DFAd.
  12. Went to a concert last night so wasn’t able to watch. Was TLR using Banks as dumb as it looked in the box score? I assume there were a couple lefties coming up and we’re not exactly flush with great pen options atm, but Banks shouldn’t even be in the big leagues let alone pitching high leverage innings.
  13. Just watching highlights and Moncada hit a missile to the track that Mike Yaz made an incredible catch. I would image the xBA was quite high. Sox need Moncada…keep running him out there.
  14. I watch a ton of twins baseball. All my friends are twins fans. I grew up in MN. I know folks in their FO. I know more about the Twins than most Twins fans. This is an outrageous list from ever the most optimistic Twins fan.
  15. Dudes not even a top 100 prospect. Maybe he should pump the breaks a bit if that’s his opinion. I am excited for the guy, but it’s not he’s some can’t miss guy. That said, there are several overdue promotions in the minors and Colas is high on the list.
  16. Twins are a clusterfuck. Thing you love to see.
  17. Yeah, problem is if you grill him you’re never going to get the opportunity again. But I agree.
  18. Its definitely an interesting predicament the Sox will find themselves in this offseason. In my opinion, Jose will be back if he wants to play. Only way he moves on is if he wants to (seems unlikely) or retires (would have said unlikely prior to season, but with his comments in ST, perhaps). It is hard to say this team would be better without Jose - I truly don't believe that - but the team sure falls into place a bit better defensively and lineup-balance wise if he's gone. Spend that $ on a real LH OF - I think I might jump back on that Nimmo bandwagon since he's an impending FA - move AV to 1st (can still play some LF on days when they wanna get Sheets in lineup) and move Eloy to DH fulltime. Anderson SS, Moncada 3B, Robert CF, AV 1B/LF, Eloy DH, Yaz C, Pollock LF, Nimmo RF, Harrison/Leury 2B (would hope they'd improve there, but won't hold my breath with the team option) BN: Leury/Harrison, Sheets, Engel, McGuire/Perez Team defense improves pretty drastically and much more balance in the the lineup. I think Pollock is probably back next year because he's unlikely to opt out on his end for 1/$10-12M, and with the $5M buyout, if the net cost is $5-7M for 1 year, I think Sox keep him around, which is probably fine.
  19. Hopefully he is back in the lineup today, continues to rake and gets promoted to AA next week. Keep the dude happy, we're gonna need him at some point.
  20. Seems like a great day to fire Tony into the sun with the offday. Get Jirschele to San Fran by tomorrow and get this thing pointed in the right direction before the ASG. Otherwise, we're likely dead a week from today.
