  1. Nothing about this lineup makes sense, but this takes the cake. I'd way prefer AV in RF over Sheets. Only possible explanation is that AV has looked a tad hobbled lately as well.
  2. I watch a lot of random baseball, and especially a lot of the Twins, and every team does this TBH. FFS 2 TEX OF almost killed themselves a week ago against us.
  3. For some reason, they've been waiting until the spot is needed to do it. strange for sure, especially with a torn ACL.
  4. I don't really think that one is on the coaching staff TBH. It was probably Haseley's ball and he should have called everyone else off, and he's hardly even been in Chicago. The plus side here that that if TA was playing, that was him.
  5. Feel for Danny. I don't think this really hurts the Sox all that much, but it hurts him alot. Really shitty for a guy that's been awesome for the Sox and is a super easy dude to root for.
  6. What the big deal if this happens? Just send him back to AA/AAA then when Mendick gets back. I'd love to see him play more than 3-4 days a week, but they are not going to glue Harrison and Leury to the bench, and yoan should be back next week sometime further crowding the IF picture.
  7. Lol I am blind. It was VV that was missing.
  8. That for some reason don't include Reylo. edit: i am blind; meant to say VV
  9. He sure does look gimpy, but I don't think there is a shot in hell he's going to IL. Dude wouldn't even take a day off yesterday when he effectively had a peg leg. Also, hope we see Yaz back soon. Pretty sick of our catcher situation atm, not that Yaz has been any better but woof.
  10. Update fangraphs odds as of today: White Sox to win division: 38% White Sox to WC: 20% White Sox to Playoffs: 58% Guardians to win division: 51.8% Guardians to WC: 18% Guardians to Playoffs: 51.8% Twins to win division: 28.1% Twins to WC: 18.4% Twins to Playoffs: 46.5%
  11. Shrug. Got to get to the playoffs to a win a world series. This team isn't winning 95+ games at this point, just have to hope they're playing their best ball of the season come mid-to-late September.
  12. Gotta see some movement today I would assume. Knights can hardly field a team right now.
  13. Not really. Sox a 4.5 GB having played under .500 ball 42% of the way thru the season. 85 wins legitimately could win this division. Sox remaining schedule is easiest in the league, and gets a whole lot easier in 10 days. A 15-5 stretch would be great, but its not necessary.
  14. The man already retired a decade ago. I think there is a decent chance he walks away or is asked to walk away if the Sox miss the playoffs or lose quickly in 1st round. He is definitely not getting fired midseason tho, no matter how much we all want it.
  15. Montgomery has gotta be a top 75 type prospect on the updates yah?
  16. I do. Neither are very good and if we can't beat them nothing matters anyway.
  17. Gotta get 3/4 here. Next 2 series in Cali will be tough again. And then we get a longgggg schedule breather.
  18. Assuming this is all going down, and it certainly appears to be, it will be interesting to see the roster moves today. I don't think they're going to insta-60 day IL Mendick, but he's obviously hitting the 10-day. Which means a 40 man spot will need to be opened. Assume one of Aybar or Severino gets DFAd. With Sheets getting scratched last night, he's likely headed up as well, likely to fill in for Engel hitting the 10-day as well. Which means one of Burger and Sheets is going to DH most nights and AV back to RF. Probably some Leury in RF as well with AV DHing and Burger at 3B. I don't think Sheets played any RF down in AAA. Losing Mendick and Engel while we're so banged up is going to Tony some scary defensive bad combos to work with. Should be some shuffling down on the farm too. Charlotte hardly has enough position players to field a team right now.
  19. Where are you getting this Engel news? Jumping to 60 day IL based on news we have on Mendick at this point seems a tad premature.
  20. Yep. There has been plenty of waiver wire pitchers Sox should have grabbed over last month or two as the pitching was struggling. Our pen is a disaster. Try some fresh blood!!
  21. I sincerely hope Danny is alright. He’s an awesome story and has been playing his best ball in the big leagues the last month. But the Sox will be just fine if this happens to be a long term injury; he isn’t a difference maker in the bigs and a sample size regression was coming very soon. Sucks he went down when he was playing great tho, really does. At least Harrison is showing a pulse lately.
  22. Agreed, but the Sox have seemed to really hold on tight to the fodder at the back of the 40 man the last year or so. FFS it took them a year to cut bait in Yermin when it was obvious his days in Chicago were over. That said, no one is going to lose sleep over DFAing Markel, or Severino or Aybar.
  23. I was sort of kidding; he's apparently the emergency catcher. But yah..didn't age well.
