For some reason, I’m kind of numb to this one even with the ominous prognosis that generally comes with forearm strains. Perhaps apathy. Losing Liam long term would likely be the kill shot.
I don't hate the idea. Martin can't be worse than the last handful of guys we're throwing out there right now anyway. They may want to keep him stretched out for eventual Kopech insurance down the road, though.
That would be sensible time to use the worst reliever in your pen, instead of high leverage 1-2 run lead spots that TLR loves to deploy Sousa. At least he's Charlotte's problem for now.
Hopefully just one of those deals where he wouldn't be ready until the weekend so they're giving him extra time and getting a fresh arm up. Unfortunately, he's now out until the the 26th best case scenerio.
Just praying this isn't a long term issue.
There is a 0% chance he wouldn't be a significant improvement. Just throw an interim tag on him, if he isn't great, keep him on MLB staff in 2023 as a manager in training and do an actual hiring process for a competent manager from OUTSIDE the org.
You do realize that Sousa was also warming up, right?
Instead he went with Hendriks with 5 run lead to save Sousa for a high leverage spot on Saturday, which he failed, and the Sox lost.
