  1. Yeah, I guess its just for length today with Martin going, but woof. Tonight looking like another game with long odds for a Sox W.
  2. He literally had a 3 or 4 game stretch where he hit all his homers. He's had 1 XBH since then. Just awful.
  3. Glad to see Sheets gone - long overdue. Hope he gets his swing back in Charlotte. But not sure what Jimmy Lambert accomplishes.
  4. I highly doubt the Sox will trade any assets, let alone ones controlled in 2023, unless they’re 10+ GB in late July. With the Sox upcoming schedule, the Twins upcoming schedule and the rest of the circumstances surrounding those two teams, that seems very unlikely.
  5. Burger has rightfully received plenty of flack around here for his defense yesterday. He did cost the Sox the game and you’re absolutely Correct that spot never happens if he completes the DP, or hurts a lot less if his error the previous inning didn’t lead to 5 unearned runs. He’s simply not someone you can play at 3B regularly.
  6. Yeah, I don't really think trading Abreu for a couple B- prospects is the solution. This division is still winnable. I am not interested in the Sox trading some of their few valuable prospects this summer, but they should be able to find a LH OF and 2B on expiring deals that can help. Drury is good fit and shouldn't cost much.
  7. I just think its funny you went from July 1st, got called out on it, and then switched to July 20. I don't disagree that there is a coin flips chance that Eloy gets hurt again before he makes it back to the club. And even if he does make it back to the big leagues this year, I don't have much faith he'll be a positive contributor. It sucks, but any sort of positive developments we get from Eloy moving forward are going to be gravy. I hope the organization plans that way moving forward. He simply cannot be relied upon.
  8. There is no possible way these guys are that stupid. You don't get to where JR and his partners are in life being a braindead moron.
  9. Quitting puts him in the exact same spot as getting fired. This is a really strange take to hang onto.
  10. I am going to hold out a sliver of hope it happens before then. This season is still salvageable, amazingly. But yeah, that's likely best realistic case scenario.
  11. AV has been fine in the OF as a whole. The first couple weeks in 22 were really bad, but he's been fine out there lately. Robert.....has been disappointing since his latest bout with Covid. That batting stance is so fucked. Hope they rework it cause he's pretty much an opposite field soft singles hitter right now which is brutal.
  12. Touche, though I have to imagine there is a higher likelihood of that than Ozzie ever managing for the Sox again. Its pretty difficult for me to wrap my ahead around the idea that ownership is ok with the way things are going right now. At some point, you have to make a change even if you don't want to. The window is shrinking, and Jerry's losing money by the day.
  13. They aren't hiring Ozzie. I cannot believe people continue to think that is actually an option. Its not.
  14. If you want to use the $8.5M per 1 fWAR calculation I know you love to use, Yasmani was worth $45M in years 1 and 2 of his deal, and was paid $36.5M. Obviously year 3 and year 4 aren't looking so great at the moment, but Yas was a needed signing at the time and has earned his $ to this point. It is unfortunately looking like the last 2 years are going to be rough unless he finds whatever it is he found after his return from the IL last summer. I am also not sure Perez can really be deemed a "solution to the problem". I'd be more than happy to give him a shot at this point - you can't just keep running Yaz out there right now. But Perez has really cooled off after a fast start. The last few weeks he hasn't hit much at all.
  15. Jirschele would be a fantastic interim manager choice and such a refreshing change. I think if they were to fire TLR (they won't), it'd be McEwing though. Which is also fine.
  16. Isn't that literally what free agency is, though? Players go the highest bidder probably 90%+ of the time. That means that all other 29 clubs didn't want to match or exceed that price. If that is your barometer for a good FA signing, almost all of them across the league are bad. *This is not an endorsement of needlessly giving Leury 3 years*
  17. I will always pick playoffs as opposed to not. But I honestly don’t think anyone in the org saw this level of suckitude coming in year 2. Almost nothing had gone right.
  18. Well Boob Nightengale who has always been a Sox mouthpiece said TLR will last the season but is on the hot seat. I think TLR is gone if the Sox miss the playoffs. Problem is, I really don’t want them to miss the playoffs. Definitely concerned that they could back their way in with the soft schedule in the second half with 85-88 wins and JR refuses to move on. A bit of a conundrum.
  19. Really hoped to wake up to some good news….if only we were so lucky…
  20. Maybe he likes his job and doesn’t want to move? I think it’s quite obvious that Hahn never wanted to hire TLR. He’s also not an idiot. While he did a piss poor job this offseason, he’s watching the same shit we are. He knows TLR is a train wreck. It’s just not his call. I don’t necessarily think that makes him a “yes man”, it just means it’s not his decision to make, right or wrong.
  21. What an awful at bat from Yaz. Got a cookie too.
