I mean, I don't think anyone thinks he's a #4. But if we're talking about who you'd rather have in your rotation, me thinks just about every club in baseball would go Cease, Giolito, Kopech (in some order, not really sure which they're all nails) before Lynn at this point. That said, Lynn would the ace or #2 in the majority of rotations across the league. I would agree with the OP that the Sox, when healthy, have the best rotation in the game. I don't even care who the #5 is, but Cueto has certainly been a pleasant surprise in his very SSS.

We still have him under control for 2.75 seasons. I don't think we need to worry about the extension quite yet. He'll be 32 in his first FA season....I'd love to keep him around, but he'll be at an age where you cannot really back up the truck. I say at least let 22 and 23 play out and see where we stand then. No reason to extend him right now unless he's willing to take (another) team friendly deal. Doubtful IMO.

I mean, the Sox are not going to let him go from 70 IP to 160+ IP. I agree the Ptatc's 110-120 projection was light if Kopech is healthy, but 120 regular season innings is also not terribly far off - probably only 2-3 starts worth. I agree the Sox need to make the playoffs, and Kopech is a big part of that, but they also need him to be available, and healthy, in the playoffs.

Right. They’re definitely going to do some innings maintenance on Kopech. There is no way he throws more than 140-150 regular season innings.

Making the playoffs is also vital to this team, and we’re staring down m a 6 game deficit 40 games into the season after tonight. TA abso-fucking-lutely should be playing both games today with 3 off days in the next week. At what point to Larussa decide the games matter? Once we’re 10 games back? 15? August? Dudes a clown.

Kind of agree here, tho they should still suspend his ass for a few games. He’s a POS human. But there’s no real proof it was a blatant racial remark as opposed to mocking TA for comparison himself to an all time great. That said, Sox could use something to fire them up.
