  1. I doubt Sox will go a pitcher short and a 5-man bench. Still could play 60-day IL games with Davis Martin, if they wanted to burn the service time.
  2. I am having a real hard time finding 47 wins on the schedule. Especially after anyone of value sans Robert (and maybe Crochet) is moved in June/July.
  3. I think he'll be up tomorrow. They've already said he's playing in AAA today. I am sure he'll handshake away the optout for a day. Mentioned this in the fresh blood thread, but with Fletcher sitting 2 straight days against RHP and Pham playing CF in AAA, I actually would put my money on the Sox sending Fletcher down and keeping all the vets. Would have to find the 40 man space for Pham somewhere other than Pillar or Grossman tho, which could get interesting. Watch the Sox DFA Sosa to keep all these washed vets.
  4. With Fletcher sitting two straight days, Pham playing CF in AAA today and seemingly set to come up tomorrow, it looks like this could in fact play out.
  5. The twins have been simply terrible this year. Sox were just what the doctor ordered.
  6. Benintendi fucks it again in LF. I’ve stated here several times last couple weeks that Sox need to stick with him due to their future commitments to him, but he’s making it tougher to justify by the day. He’s just an awful OF.
  7. I mean, he has a 3.86 FIP, 2.86 xERA, 34 SO/6 BB and is 4th in the league in Ks and likely will lead the league after tonight. I think he's pretty good.
  8. Benintendi's ass should be on the bench. Where is the accountability you preach, Pedro!?
  9. That is my thought as well. If you have Pham, Benintendi, Fletcher on the roster, Pillar feels like a better 4th OF than Grossman. Grossman is not a good defender and while he does hit LHP well, so does Pham. I just don't feel like Grossman has much of a role once Pham is on the roster. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see them send Fletcher down for Pham and keep all the washed vets because White Sox.
  10. Well one of Grossman or Pillar will need to go for Pham, who is probably arriving later this week. But that doesn't really solve the too many over the hill veteran problem.
  11. He just like casually jogs after balls. It’s wild. That one in the 9th was a very catchable baseball. I don’t get it.
  12. The umpiring has been insanely poor for the Sox this season. Maybe things just feel exemplified cause they can’t score any runs and I’m sure that part of it, but they sure do get bagged a lot on both sides of the ball. Also Maldonado just needs to go away.
  13. I mean I can’t imagine dude would even out himself in the lineup!
  14. Eloy! Don’t see balls land in that spot too often at Target Field.
  15. If the Sox had anyone worth a s%*# on the beat, this would be asked of Getz at the beginning of the next homestand.
  16. Right, but they need to field a major league roster. They have a bunch of bad players, but don't really have that many no brainer DFA candidates. Its the downside to signing to many shitty veterans. No one is going to lose sleep over DFAing Lopez, or DeJong, or Grossman, or Pillar, etc., etc., but they also don't really have anyone in the upper minors to replace these guys either.
  17. Perez is no longer a catcher. Don't believe he has caught a single inning in AAA this year - playing 1B. They could just call up Robinson I suppose and then DFA him when Stassi is ready. I doubt they want to put Hackenburg on the 40 man yet because its already fairly crowded and he's at least mildly interesting. With all the vets on the 40 man, its makes the 40 man fairly inflexible.
  18. I really don't think its a motivation issue for AV. He might look like he doesn't care, but I think that is just him. He has to know that if he doesn't pick it up, he's a non tender candidate and looking at a cheap 1 year deal, or maybe even milb if he really keeps sucking. I am sure its eating him up inside. I really think a month or so in Charlotte makes a ton of sense for AV. From a roster construction standpoint, Pham can replace AV. Sheets plays 1B. AV can play 1B daily in AAA - its currently being played by a catcher. It also will give the Sox another year of control of AV, which gives them more flexibility with him moving forward. But being arb eligible already, he's making $3.25M this year - so he's going to have to show some life for that extra year to even matter.
  19. What’s the wait? While Montoyo is a step in the right direction, I’d much prefer something more drastic and new. Jirschele obviously makes sense. Sizemore would be interesting just as a fresh voice in charge, but obviously has no managerial experience. I don’t think JR will approve going out of the org mid season.
  20. I am all for sending AV to AAA. But he did hit the ball hard 2x yesterday. .570 xBA on that bases loaded line out to Kirilloff. Baby steps.
