  1. I missed that. Game got turned off after the 8 run 5th or 6th or whatever it was. Did Burger get any plays at 2B?
  2. I have low hopes for Eloy. Sadly. Lynn will be nice to have back. This rotation is going to be really good if they can stay healthy. Plenty good enough to get back into things. With how awful we've played, we're still get 1.5 GB of a playoff spot. Not that this team should be striving to back door their way into the playoffs. A three games series in Minny to advance would be fun. At some point the Twins will struggle. Their pitching will catch up to them as the schedule gets harder. But that lead is up to 5.5 GB now....need to cut into it as opposed to it going the other direction.
  3. I am a big Grandal guy, but I am at a loss. He's truly been awful and his 22 play is simply not defendable. At this point, at the very least, he needs to be dropped down to the bottom third of the order. I am also not opposed to getting Perez up here and see what he can do a couple times a week. McGuire is fine back up, but he's not the answer. Definitely don't think we should be running Grandal out at DH much at all once Eloy returns.
  4. Lol. Plenty of guys have been put on covid 19 list without testing positive.
  5. This one feels over already and that sucks.
  6. Where was it reported that Gio tested positive?
  7. Yes. Teams can use the covid IL for symptoms. If a player tests positive, I beleive he needs to sit out for 10 days. If its just symptoms, I believe they need to pass 2-3 covid tests and then be reinstated. I believe some guys have been on it as few as 2-3 days. Even Gio was just on it for less than 10 days, so he never tested +.
  8. Not sure what purpose Burger really serves though. Would have been a nice opportunity to see Yolbert. I imagine Leury will be playing some CF if Luis' absence is more than a few days.
  9. Hopefully this is just a couple day thing for symptoms and not an actual positive test.
  10. Keuchel has been retained simply because we needed the rotation depth and we didn't know what Cueto would bring. Cueto has looked good, but expecting that to continue would be a mistake. I would guess Dallas is gone once Lynn in back. He serves no roll and frankly he shouldn't make another start. We also at least know Davis Martin can make a start or two in pinch. As for the $, you're paying him regardless and he really isn't giving the team much of chance to win his starts. So continuing to run him out there doesn't really solve anything.
  11. Interesting question I’m not sure if the answer to but I’d lean towards shutting him down. He need that arm going full blaze is Sep and Oct. I do look forward to the resident negative nancies losing their minds when these IL stints or short starts come though, even though everyone should know it’s coming.
  12. No. Let Kopech be. Just understand he’s not making 30+ starts and will need a maintenance IL stint or two along the way. VV should go to the pen once Lance is back.
  13. Is it though? I assume Kopech is your 4th SP, but its quite possible he's the best of the bunch.
  14. That offensive is so stacked. Glad we're done with them. See them in October.
  15. I legit lol'd on this one. well played.
  16. I mean, I don't think anyone thinks he's a #4. But if we're talking about who you'd rather have in your rotation, me thinks just about every club in baseball would go Cease, Giolito, Kopech (in some order, not really sure which they're all nails) before Lynn at this point. That said, Lynn would the ace or #2 in the majority of rotations across the league. I would agree with the OP that the Sox, when healthy, have the best rotation in the game. I don't even care who the #5 is, but Cueto has certainly been a pleasant surprise in his very SSS.
  17. We still have him under control for 2.75 seasons. I don't think we need to worry about the extension quite yet. He'll be 32 in his first FA season....I'd love to keep him around, but he'll be at an age where you cannot really back up the truck. I say at least let 22 and 23 play out and see where we stand then. No reason to extend him right now unless he's willing to take (another) team friendly deal. Doubtful IMO.
  18. I mean, the Sox are not going to let him go from 70 IP to 160+ IP. I agree the Ptatc's 110-120 projection was light if Kopech is healthy, but 120 regular season innings is also not terribly far off - probably only 2-3 starts worth. I agree the Sox need to make the playoffs, and Kopech is a big part of that, but they also need him to be available, and healthy, in the playoffs.
  19. They’re going to manage his innings throughout the season and he’ll likely hit the IL a time or two for short maintenance stints. He’s not making 32 starts.
  20. Right. They’re definitely going to do some innings maintenance on Kopech. There is no way he throws more than 140-150 regular season innings.
  21. It was tongue in cheek. Moncada is a far superior player. It shouldn’t even need to be said.
